i decided to go ubuntu all the way in my laptop... it's already a week and freaking happy, however i'm new in linux so i wonder if someone can tell me how to add pictures to my iphone.

View 2 Replies View RelatedRunning Ubuntu 10.10 along side Windows7 on a 64-bit HP Pavilion dv7 Laptop. Everything works in Windows. Everything works in Ubuntu, except for 2 things.1) I can live with not being able to enable/disable wifi.) I cannot read photos from an SD card plugged into the laptops SD card reader. When I open the SD card in Ubuntu, I can see the file name, but the thumbnails show messed up pictures. Usually, the bottom half of the photo is solid green, and there are usually lines running through the photo, or it is divided into quadrants with one quadrant being ok, but the rest having the green and/or lines.I assume the driver for the card reader is not correct. Card reader works fine in Windows. So I have to reboot into windows, copy pictures from reader to a folder, then reboot into Ubuntu and I can see and open the photos just fine. Just cannot read and copy them from the card while in Ubuntu.

I know that it's possible to create panoramic photos very easily with hugin. But I would like to create a script for nautilus where I select my picture and then create a panoramic without any questions.I guess it's possible but I can't find on google, each time I find something about hugin.Is it possible to call from the command line and hide the interface during the process ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedUbuntu 10.10. All things have been working well and as expected until tonight. I was updating some flac files using easyTAG (AAC), adding pictures and changing things a little, then dropping them into a Sansa Fuze+. All things I've done with this setup before and with no problems. I close easyTAG and try to open: Places/ Pictures. Instead of the normal brouser up pops easytag at the pictures directory.
I test all other Places. For each Place selected easyTAG opens instead of the usual brouser. I go to synaptic and remove easyTAG and then restart the system. All is now normal again (except that easyTAG is missing). I reload easyTAG and once again it has put itself as the preferred tool to view directories. How do I restore things to normal and what have I done?
When I go in a file with pictures and right click on it I tell it to arrange pictures by modification date but when I start viewing the pictures and click on next then it shows them to me in Alphabetical order.I am using Eye of GNOME 2.32.0 to view picturesHow do I get this application to show me the pictures by modification date

I am just asking because i want to be sure, that sensitive data can not be extracted from my computer unencrypted, using cached files. For instance i would not want my girlfriend's picture to be uploaded to some random site, whereas it normally stays on an AES encrypted volume, but i viewed it once, so it was available in some cache folder, unencrypted - yea, sadly, it happened in windows -.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI use an android app (Exif4film) for recording EXIF data (only aperture, shutter speed) when shooting an old analog full-manual film camera.
Everytime i take a shot, i dial in the app the shutter speed and aperture settings. Later i want to see if my settings were right.
The app exports an xml file. What software should i use to extract the exposure settings and to put them on the corresponding picture?
I have this problem, however the solution given there is outdated- There is no such menu entry (I tried to see if it was disabled, but it wasn't in the menu editor either).
So how would I do this in Karmic?
Edit: I found it. As a reference: Open Nautilus, go to Edit-> Preferences -> "Media" tab -> Photos -> Your choice.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to sync my iPhone (3G, 3.1.2) through Rhythmbox on my newly installed Lucid Lynx. While I can access and transfer music files to my iPhone, upon unmounting the iPhone doesn't update the library nor show the music. If I remount it in Rhythmbox, I can play the files from there. In my file manager I can access my iPhone, but I can't either see the iPod_Control directory nor find anything in Music or Playlists folders. BTW, on Karmic Koala I was able to update music on my iPhone, though it would not always update library.

I've installed ifuse and can browse the contents but i cannot transfer any music in a way that the iPhone frecognizes it and is able to play it. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a rather strange problem and it surfaced just recently. Most likely it has something to do with switching from Ubuntu 10.04 to Ubuntu 10.10.
When I upload music to my iPhone 3gs with iOS 3.1.3 (7E1 it shows in iTunes, however the phone skips over the music. This does not happen to songs I uploaded via rhythmbox two weeks ago.
For a test purposes I deleted the old songs from the iPhone and tried to put them on again. Now I cannot listen to them as well. At least I know it has nothing to do with the used mp3 coding.
I even can use the iPhone as a harddrive for that music and play music from their through rhythmbox.
The song list shows the right sizes on the iPhone.
It is save to say that the data is transfered and the music database is updated. So there must be a strange error in detecting the length of the songs which would point to a problem in updating the iPhone database. However, I cannot be sure, because the phone is not reporting any errors.
I use rhythumbox for uploading songs in to my iphone and getting my pics from my phone is also not a broblem , but how to upload videos from ubuntu 10.10 to iphone .
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just received my iphone 4 16gb, I had already looked into a work around for the whole itunes inside linux issue and instead opted for gtkpod ipod manager which works a treat for my music however I have no way of converting and putting movies on my phone.
Previously I would have used Handbrake to do my video conversions however the new version download on their site doesnt work with 10.10 for some reason and both handbrake and gtk gui are missing when I look in the ubuntu software updates.
I want a program similar to Windows Movie Maker that can record audio and import pictures that I made with GIMP and put them on a timeline so that I can make an animation.

What's a good program in Linux/Ubuntu to convert any video file to .mp4 for an iPod/iPhone?
I have an iPhone 3GS with Firmware 3.1.3 and I'd like to sync the music over rhythmbox in lucid (64bit).
The phone does mount in nautilus and I can also mount it with ifuse to use it witz gtkpod. However it does not show up (it only blinks and disappears) in the list at the left in rhythmbox though I have MTP and iPod Plugins enabled.
I thought I'd ask after having waited several weeks and none of the gvfsd updates changed anything
I was wondering if it would be possible to set up a server on my desktop that has a folder of videos converted to iPhone formats that I can access with my iPhone over the internet to stream videos to my phone?I started by setting up a server and used no-ip2 to create a domain name so I didn't have to worry about my dynamic ip changing.Then I tried unsuccessfully to transcode a DVD to iPhone format using Arista, Transmaggedon, and Avidemux, none of which I could get to properly work.
Finally I used iUI (URL...) to create a site that would appear as a simple menu to search through my movies on my website and stream them.This failed in that every time I set a static link it would change it to URL...

I've achieved photo sync, internet tethering, and ssh access, but I don't know about music access.. there doesn't seem to be anything happening between rhythmbox and the iphone.
Rhythmbox regocnizes the phone and plays the music on it... but I can't seem to make any changes to that music.
The phone occasionally says "sync in progress" but I haven't pushed any "sync" button as there doesn't seem to be any or any settings for automatic syncing...
I am trying to get video streaming working to my iphone. I have everything working fine using Handbrake to convert to .m4v. I takes a 2.2gig and compresses it down to about 550 megs. Then I am just posting a link to a web page for now for the iphone to open.
It all works but after about 4 - 5 mins of video it needs to buffer. Is there anything I can do when encoding them to help? or is there some kind of video staging server that can be used?
