View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to sync my iPhone (3G, 3.1.2) through Rhythmbox on my newly installed Lucid Lynx. While I can access and transfer music files to my iPhone, upon unmounting the iPhone doesn't update the library nor show the music. If I remount it in Rhythmbox, I can play the files from there. In my file manager I can access my iPhone, but I can't either see the iPod_Control directory nor find anything in Music or Playlists folders. BTW, on Karmic Koala I was able to update music on my iPhone, though it would not always update library.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've noticed there are a few threads started not only here but on other forums asking about gtkpod in KDE I was in the understanding that an iphone cannot sync with KDE as KDE detects it as a camera or an I missing something if so what packages do I need to get it to work in KDE.
View 9 Replies View Relatedive spent days figuring out how to sync my iphone 3gs firmware 3.1.3 in ubuntu 10.04. my laptop can detect my iphone, i can actually browse its folder. (i can see photos and music from my phone, i tried to paste some photos in a certain folder and went well, just in ONE folder).
i tried almost all instructions i can find on net, but nothing is working well. i even freshly installed my ubuntu, thinking that i did something wrong in my first attempt. still cant sync music and photos.
i transferred songs already to my phone using itunes in windows (on another laptop). they said that doing this can initialize my iphone, but it didnt work.
I wanna update my iPhone please help me with the root commands for this simple task.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSince we both run ubuntu, we've run into some problems; we can't get any music on the iPhone. I've installed ifuse and can browse the contents but i cannot transfer any music in a way that the iPhone frecognizes it and is able to play it. I've seen a couple of comprehensive (very long) guides to sync iphone wireless w ubuntu, however im only interested in connecting the iPhone with usb and copy music to it is there any quick/easy way to do this? (Rhytmbox is compatible w iphone it seems, it recognizes it as an iPod but cant sync)
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a rather strange problem and it surfaced just recently. Most likely it has something to do with switching from Ubuntu 10.04 to Ubuntu 10.10.
When I upload music to my iPhone 3gs with iOS 3.1.3 (7E1 it shows in iTunes, however the phone skips over the music. This does not happen to songs I uploaded via rhythmbox two weeks ago.
For a test purposes I deleted the old songs from the iPhone and tried to put them on again. Now I cannot listen to them as well. At least I know it has nothing to do with the used mp3 coding.
I even can use the iPhone as a harddrive for that music and play music from their through rhythmbox.
The song list shows the right sizes on the iPhone.
It is save to say that the data is transfered and the music database is updated. So there must be a strange error in detecting the length of the songs which would point to a problem in updating the iPhone database. However, I cannot be sure, because the phone is not reporting any errors.
syncing my iPod with Ubuntu. I have already imported all my music from my iPhone to Banshee..:
1. What media player is easiest to sync your iPod with? I've tried doing it in Banshee but it always messes up.
2. new media player or banshee and instructions how to sync my iPod with it?
So I've seen all the buzz about the new libimobiledevice supporting iphone well enough to get it working with rhytmbox "out of the box".
I've achieved photo sync, internet tethering, and ssh access, but I don't know about music access.. there doesn't seem to be anything happening between rhythmbox and the iphone.
Rhythmbox regocnizes the phone and plays the music on it... but I can't seem to make any changes to that music.
The phone occasionally says "sync in progress" but I haven't pushed any "sync" button as there doesn't seem to be any or any settings for automatic syncing...
This is not directly for me since I don't have an iPhone. it opens automatically with DigiKam he said and that's the only available option in the device manager. All he can do is download photos from the phone. He is running openSuse 11.2 with KDE 4.4.2.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have just got a new iPod Touch 4th generation, currently running iOS 4.1. I am having difficulty syncing it with Rhythmbox (or any application!), as it seems to go un-recognised! It currently is not jailbroken.
Is there any way to mount and sync music with this iPod? My old nano used to work just fine in Rhythmbox.
I am having a few problems concerning my mp3 player: (I thought a long time about posting this in the hardware section, but in the end it comes down to the fact that this is still an mp3 player - I know it's still piece of hardware - which indicates that's it is some sort of music device... doesn't matter)
1. The system somehow doesn't recognize it and doesn't handle it the way it handles external hard drives. However, the device is recognized by amarok. How do I change this circumstance or if this is normal, why?
2. How do I synchronize music to it, using Amarok?
I often listen to SiriusXM and find songs I like and will download them right to my iPhone. So, I also have an iPod which I use regularly in the gym and car and want to get those songs onto those devices. The issue I have is that gtkpod, or any other manager for that matter, can see the purchased song. I have to pull them off manually, rename and edit the ID3 tags. This is a royal pain in the rear. Anybody get around this? I'm at the point of wanting to write a Perl script to do this for me.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWell I've read that 10.04 was supposed to be able to detect and sync to iPhones. It doesn't.
9.10 would sync photos but 10.04 won't even detect it.
I have an iPhone 3GS and Ubuntu 10.04 x64 machine. When I plug in the phone it appears on the desktop.GTKPod opens automatically. When I close it and open RhythmBox, the phone disappears from the desktop.Looking at /var/log/messages, I see nothing about the iPhone being mounted. As an aside, I updated from 9.10 x64 to beta 10.04 x64, then upgraded to release 10.04.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to sync music on my iPhone 4 (version 4.3.3) with Ubuntu 11.04.
Is there any working way to do that?
I've already tried Amarok, Banshee, and iTunes on wine. None of them work.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have my iPhone synced with iTunes like the rest of the world. I played music music from my iPhone with rythmbox, nd now iTunes doesn't know that my iPhone is even there, and therefor won't sync. Would mounting it to Ubuntu have anything to do with that?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm an ubuntu user since a year ago. It is the best thing I did no doubt. But, as always, there is some costs doing this. Specifically, My 3G Iphone can't sync correctly with rhythmbox. Though it says that is synchronized and in rhythmbox appears that indeed it is. But when I go to the 3G's play list do not appear anywhere. p.s. Currently I'm using Maverick.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was searching on google for syncing my iphone 3gs in linux. I have seen many forums which say that Rhythmbox and gtkpod are able to sync iphone but I did not find any of them to be very helpful in my case. Any Way syncing iphone in linux so that I don't have to boot to windows.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to get my iphone 3gs to sync with banshee. I had it working before upgrading to 11.04. It recognizes the phone but when I try to sync, I get "the mp3 format is not supported by the device and no converter was found to convert it" I've never run into this problem. I thought the iphone supported mp3 files since that's what worked before.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI am thinking of using rsync to sync my Music folder to another folder called Music on an external USB drive. I will be using the Scheduled Tasks front end to schedule the syncs. What should the syntax look like when I put it in Scheduled tasks. I want this to be as simple as possible.
View 8 Replies View RelatedSince installing Lucid LYNX LTS on my Netbook. (See: [URL] [#136]). Via USB, I can connect my iPhone 3GS. It gives me two simultaneous choices:
Open F-Spot and Open Rythmbox.
In addition, I can also "Open / Browse Folder". As such, I can view / import photos and videos made on the phone, as well as video PODCASTS. I can also play my music files
What I cannot do:
1) Play / find my purchased audiobooks [decryption not supported]
2) Locate the mp4 videos / movies (NOT encrypted) that I transferred to the phone via iTunes on my MacBook.
3) Send a file via bluetooth to the phone [the Indicator Applet does allow me go go as far as select the file. It gets to the point of "connecting" then "unknown error occurred"
I cannot sync the addressbook, calendar, or notes on the iPhone with my netbook. I have the following libraries installed:
ifuse
libmobiledevice-utils
libmobiledevice0
libplist++1
libplist1
libusbmuxd1
python-imobildevice
usbmuxd
NOTA BENE: This phone is NOT jail-broken.
Anyone got iPhone 3GS to work with Evolutions calendar in Ubuntu 11.04? I googled for this, but couldn't find anything that is up to date.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI know a few months ago no one had figured out how to add music to the new iphone with linux. Anyone have any luck on this yet?
View 6 Replies View RelatedOK I have a problem, well I think it's just ubuntu because this has done this in 9.04 and 10.04 and still in 10.10. When I go to drag and drop the music files from iPhone to my music folder, the files transfer, but they don't transfer with the name of the song. They get transferred with a name of 4 digits like this "BVFG.MP3" (example).
I am not going to go through all 1,200 of my songs and rename them one by one that's ridiculous.
Here's a screen shot. That is actually More by Usher, but it doesn't say Usher obviously.
Iphone 4.2.6 and ubuntu. I have upgraded to natty and have Banshee running and am able to mount my iphone and see my files etc in a file browser. I can even see my music on the iphone inside Banshee. It lets me copy music from my machine to the iphone but never shows up on the ipod on the iphone. I can browse the folders and find the music but its saved as libgpodxxxxx.mp3. The xs are numbers. They are all in folders on the iphone called itunes_controlmusicfxx where x again are numbers. They play fine from the iphone if you highlight them in the file manager or in banshee.
