Debian Multimedia :: How To Add EXIF Data From XML To Pictures

Mar 30, 2015

I use an android app (Exif4film) for recording EXIF data (only aperture, shutter speed) when shooting an old analog full-manual film camera.

Everytime i take a shot, i dial in the app the shutter speed and aperture settings. Later i want to see if my settings were right.

The app exports an xml file. What software should i use to extract the exposure settings and to put them on the corresponding picture?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Cannot Pull Pictures From SD Card. Pictures Half Green Or With Lines?

May 1, 2011

Running Ubuntu 10.10 along side Windows7 on a 64-bit HP Pavilion dv7 Laptop. Everything works in Windows. Everything works in Ubuntu, except for 2 things.1) I can live with not being able to enable/disable wifi.) I cannot read photos from an SD card plugged into the laptops SD card reader. When I open the SD card in Ubuntu, I can see the file name, but the thumbnails show messed up pictures. Usually, the bottom half of the photo is solid green, and there are usually lines running through the photo, or it is divided into quadrants with one quadrant being ok, but the rest having the green and/or lines.I assume the driver for the card reader is not correct. Card reader works fine in Windows. So I have to reboot into windows, copy pictures from reader to a folder, then reboot into Ubuntu and I can see and open the photos just fine. Just cannot read and copy them from the card while in Ubuntu.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Rename All JPEGs In A Folder By EXIF Date & Time Stamp?

Feb 24, 2011

In the Windows world where I came from, Irfanview freeware easily renamed a large folder of JPEG photos by EXIF time & date stamps, appending a unique number if the time and date stamps were the same. Is there an equivalent rename-by-EXIF information batch command in Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid? For example, change (based solely on EXIF information): FROM:DSC_0001.JPG TO:20110224_09:34:56am.JPG

Debian Multimedia :: Evince - Entering Data Into PDF Files?

Oct 15, 2010

Some PDF files have a functionality that text and amounts can be filled in some parts of the file, after which it can be printed (most of the times NOT saved). Our tax authorities have these files as well, you can download them, fill in text and amounts, it even counts it for you, and you can print and send.

Unfortunately, I can't use that functionality in Evince (running Squeeze). I tried this with Adobe (also in Squeeze) and it didn't work either. In Win it does work, but of course I would like Debian to be "allround" Can it be that some application must be installed to use this function?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Pictures

Dec 13, 2010

Ubuntu 10.10. All things have been working well and as expected until tonight. I was updating some flac files using easyTAG (AAC), adding pictures and changing things a little, then dropping them into a Sansa Fuze+. All things I've done with this setup before and with no problems. I close easyTAG and try to open: Places/ Pictures. Instead of the normal brouser up pops easytag at the pictures directory.

I test all other Places. For each Place selected easyTAG opens instead of the usual brouser. I go to synaptic and remove easyTAG and then restart the system. All is now normal again (except that easyTAG is missing). I reload easyTAG and once again it has put itself as the preferred tool to view directories. How do I restore things to normal and what have I done?

Programming :: Searching Recursively By Exif Date?

Feb 20, 2010

I have searched diligently but can't seem to find a way to search by exif date. Most of my searches turned up commands to manipulate EXIF data not just search by it. I have found some likely tools but suspect that I don't know enough bash to recursively find a .jpg file by it's exif date. For example, exiprobe and exifgrep look promising (see examples below).

I have made some progress. At first, I couldn't associate the file name with the date given but learned that the "n" option forces each output line to start with the file name. Now, I need to make the command recurse but can't seem to manage it.

Ubuntu :: Image Viewer Sort By Exif Date Taken

Jan 31, 2011

I've tried what feels like at least a dozen different image viewers and I'm still hunting for one that handles viewing by date taken. The trick is that I'd like to just click the jpeg as they come off the camera and then browse through all the photos in the order taken... without having to load them into a photo management application, sort them in their, then start viewing from there. Too many extra steps for too many pictures when you're looking at a collection that is already organized (using the file system, i.e., nested directories) back to 2000. I need (ideally) a viewer where I click the jpeg, then go next next next through them in the order in which they were taken. Does anyone know if this sort of thing exists?

May you, please, write a script which does that job for multiple files?Exiv2 seem to reduce more weight than Jhead so I'll use the command exiv2.That's, generally, what I want the script to do:Retrieve the (Modified) date of a file.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: How To Format Data Dvd+rw

How do you erase/format a Data DVD+RW? I had originally burned some folders aka data onto a DVD+RW disc using Brasereo. The burned worked fine but now when I try to burn someone else on it, it won't let me. I tried using the "Blanking" option but all it does is make a burning sound and doesn't stop. Once it tries to blank the disc I can't stop the process except by pressing the power button on my computer. The DVD+RW is not corrupt because I can still read from it and copy working data on it. Ubuntu Multimedia :: RhythmBox Is Not Getting CD Data

Aug 13, 2011

I have a lot of CDs and I've been uploading them onto the computer via RhythmBox to be played on RhythmBox. At first, it would get all the song titles and the artist name and the album name and all that stuff. I stopped uploading music for a week or two and started again, but now it's stopped doing getting the info, and I have to enter everything manually, and I've been doing that, but it takes a while.

What's the problem and how to I fix it? It seems it might've been related to Musicbrainz, which apparently gets album data. Did that site stop working, or did I have some free trial which ran out?Did I just happen to upload CDs with the data built in at first, and now am uploading Cs that don't have that? Not even sure it works like that.
