View 1 RepliesRunning Ubuntu 10.10 along side Windows7 on a 64-bit HP Pavilion dv7 Laptop. Everything works in Windows. Everything works in Ubuntu, except for 2 things.1) I can live with not being able to enable/disable wifi.) I cannot read photos from an SD card plugged into the laptops SD card reader. When I open the SD card in Ubuntu, I can see the file name, but the thumbnails show messed up pictures. Usually, the bottom half of the photo is solid green, and there are usually lines running through the photo, or it is divided into quadrants with one quadrant being ok, but the rest having the green and/or lines.I assume the driver for the card reader is not correct. Card reader works fine in Windows. So I have to reboot into windows, copy pictures from reader to a folder, then reboot into Ubuntu and I can see and open the photos just fine. Just cannot read and copy them from the card while in Ubuntu.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have spent some time in photoshop. And I remember a useful feature in it, where Photoshop can tell you info about the image, by pressing on the properties or something. Photoshop can say what the picture was taken with (mobile / camera) and what date.

I know that it's possible to create panoramic photos very easily with hugin. But I would like to create a script for nautilus where I select my picture and then create a panoramic without any questions.I guess it's possible but I can't find on google, each time I find something about hugin.Is it possible to call from the command line and hide the interface during the process ?

View 2 Replies View RelatedUbuntu 10.10. All things have been working well and as expected until tonight. I was updating some flac files using easyTAG (AAC), adding pictures and changing things a little, then dropping them into a Sansa Fuze+. All things I've done with this setup before and with no problems. I close easyTAG and try to open: Places/ Pictures. Instead of the normal brouser up pops easytag at the pictures directory.
I test all other Places. For each Place selected easyTAG opens instead of the usual brouser. I go to synaptic and remove easyTAG and then restart the system. All is now normal again (except that easyTAG is missing). I reload easyTAG and once again it has put itself as the preferred tool to view directories. How do I restore things to normal and what have I done?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have done this in the past with little effort using a easy to use GUI picture editor. Now I can seem to find the function in any program I have installed. I have digikam, fspot and gthumb image viewer. I am now not sure if I lost the program that I had been using in an update or if I am just looking in the wrong place.
In short, can someone suggest a simple way to group together jeps as a video with audio in the background. I want to be able to upload these to ......
I am just asking because i want to be sure, that sensitive data can not be extracted from my computer unencrypted, using cached files. For instance i would not want my girlfriend's picture to be uploaded to some random site, whereas it normally stays on an AES encrypted volume, but i viewed it once, so it was available in some cache folder, unencrypted - yea, sadly, it happened in windows -.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use an android app (Exif4film) for recording EXIF data (only aperture, shutter speed) when shooting an old analog full-manual film camera.
Everytime i take a shot, i dial in the app the shutter speed and aperture settings. Later i want to see if my settings were right.
The app exports an xml file. What software should i use to extract the exposure settings and to put them on the corresponding picture?
I have this problem, however the solution given there is outdated- There is no such menu entry (I tried to see if it was disabled, but it wasn't in the menu editor either).
So how would I do this in Karmic?
Edit: I found it. As a reference: Open Nautilus, go to Edit-> Preferences -> "Media" tab -> Photos -> Your choice.

View 4 Replies View RelatedDVDs will not play with any app., however, all play fine in Linux Mint (dual booting here) with a straight install.
VLC gives me the following error message:

VLC cannot set the DVD's title. It possibly cannot decrypt the entire disc.
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'dvd:///dev/sr0'. Check the log for details.

Again, I'm not trying to rip or decrypt anything, just play. All DVD & players give me the same results in Ubuntu, but all play fine in Linux Mint.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI can't get the microphone to work in any application (Sound Recorder, Audacity, Skype, etc.) It's been this way for a while and didn't bother me, but now I need to use Skype for work so I desperately need to fix this over the weekend. View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to launch CoverGloobus (a fantastic little album art and current song display) and Rhythmbox simultaneously through a BASH script. Problem is that when I attempt to run the script the first time, CoverGloobus doesn't launch, but Rhythmbox does. Here's my script as it is right now:
Code:
#! /bin/bash
#Opens Rhythmbox and CoverGloobus
rhythmbox && covergloobus
done
I've double-checked the commands in gnome-terminal, and they're the right ones for launching the applications. Here's where it gets odd, though. The second time I run the script, CoverGloobus and Rhythmbox launch simultaneously. I've reproduced this scenario multiple times.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a hda-intel soundcard which is working perfectly with alsa on Kubuntu 10.4. The only problem is the microphone.
Apparently I am not able to make it capture any sound or the sound is horrible:
- it works only in QArecord after I check the "Capture" checkbox.
-it doesn't work at all for Flash even if I Allow Flsh to use my mic
-it doesn't work at all for vmware player (I have a winxp guest os)
-in Skype for Linux it works only if I set Microphone boost to 100%, but the sound is too weak and distorted.
In alsa mixer I have enabled all 3 Capture sliders to 100%, the Mic is at 100%, Input sources are all 3 set up as Mic.
The microphone doesn't work at all for any application if I use FrontMic instead of Mic.
Being able to use the microphone in Skype and VMware player is very important to me and it's the only thing keeping me from using linux as my main OS.
Note: I have tried Slackware and I have the same issues there too.
I have a laptop running Ubuntu hooked up to a TV via a VGA to S-Video converter with the VGA-out through an external monitor, and I am trying to find a way to set vlc or mplayer to open fullscreen in the external monitor by default. Eventually I want to be able to hit enter on a video file and have it play on the TV without any dragging to the external monitor. I have googled around a bit, checked the monitor settings options, and looked through the media player options but so far can't find anything.
