Ubuntu :: How To Burn MP3 Music CDs

May 31, 2010

The applications normally installed, like Brasero or GnomeBaker, seem to know just to burn audio CDs. I found in Package Manager three other applications with promising names (mp3burn, mp3roaster, mp3cd), but they also burn audio CDs... from mp3 files. What I want is to burn mp3 CDs playable on stereo systems, using mp3 files, or even converting from audio CDs or files (like for instance with Nero in Windows). Is there any solution?

Software :: Burn A Music CD In DAO With K3b

Mar 7, 2011

I'm trying to burn a music CD in DAO. I use k3b v. 2.0.1 and cdrdao v. 1.2.2 . The music files are in WAV format. I start up k3b v. 2.0.1, I pick cdrdao v. 1.2.2, I get my WAV files in order, I insert a blank Imation CD-R, and I pick "burn". But nothing happens. I only see "Writing-- elapsed time" and "Preparing write process....0%". The overall progress remains also at 0%. I wait, wait some more, and wait even longer but nothing happens. The lights on my CD-DVD burner don't even blink and the unit is quiet. What could be wrong? Here's the debugging info from k3b:

[Code].....

Kindly tell me if you know what's wrong and how I can fix this. [I usually have no troubles with k3b when not in DAO mode. But now I'd like to burn a music CD with DAO selected and have some problem I don't understand.]

Ubuntu :: Can Use To Burn CD's Covering Everything From Data To Music?

Apr 29, 2010

I'm running UbuntuStudio 9.1 on my Toshiba Satellite laptop, and all other aspects of the operating system and software are fantastic - absolutely love it!I am having a serious problem with Brassero though for recording to CD. I can erase any of my re-writable cd's just fine using it, but when it comes to trying to burn a cd with it - Brassero goes through all the motions of putting the info onto CD, finalizing and then briefly displays the box saying "completed" but then immediately goes into "creating image checksum" and keeps busy doing that into forever - last time I stopped it after 35 minutes! that's absurd.

Maybe it's because the laptop has a CD/DVD combo drive, not sure, but I need CD burning software, and that is for sure. Can someone recommend a different software package that I can use to burn CD's covering everything from data to music?(or possibly help me fix whatever is wrong with Brassero?)

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Burn Music To An Iso Rather Than A Physical CD?

Oct 1, 2010

The reason I want to do this is simple- I spent a good day or two converting my mp3s to oggs, both to save space and because I prefer the codec for listening. So, as you would lose audio fidelity by straight transcoding, I loaded the mp3s in Audacity and exported them as OGGs to retain quality.Of course, this takes forever, and isn't very practical.A common way for people to strip DRM in Windows or on OS X is to burn their collection from the DRM program to a fake CD drive which a secondary program simulatneously rips back into another format.I'd like to use this same method, to burn all my mp3s at once to a massive audio CD image, an iso, then somehow mount it and rip it all back as a different format in one fell swoop. However, I'm unaware of any tools that can do this, or if it's a simple matter of mounting a fake CD filesystem.

Slackware :: K3B Can't Burn Audio CDs?

May 28, 2010

I had this issue in Slackware64 13 but I had hoped that it would have been fixed in 13.1. I have my permissions setup correctly, I can even burn DVDs just fine, but every audio CD I try to burn in k3b gives me an unknown error with regard to cdrtools (254). It gives me this error at about 200mb of writing every single time, even when simulating the burn. Here is the error log that k3b puts out.

OpenSUSE :: K3B Audio CD Burn Fails

Jan 7, 2009

I recently installed OpenSuse 11.1 (i586) on a new laptop (HP 6710b) all has been going well, until I tried to burn audio CDs with K3B using .wav files in a directory in the format 01.wav 02.wav 03.wav etc. To burn the audio CDs I have been running K3B as root to avoid any potential permission issues. I now have a stack of cd 'coasters' with only one lucky success using the command line, which when the exact command was repeated failed again. I have successfully burnt 2 data DVDs using K3B, one as root the second as user, both without problem - so maybe it is not a permissions problem?

I am using K3b 1.0.5 in KDE 4.1.3. (it runs under KDE3) I have not been able to run k3bsetup it is not part of the installation. However permissions appear correctly set-up I also added the appropriate users to the group disk.

/dev/cdrom lrw-rw----root disk (just points to /dev/sr0)
/dev/sr0 -rw-rw---- root disk
/usr/bin/cdrecord lrwxr-xr-x root root (just points to /usr/bin/wodim)
/usr/bin/wodim-rwxr-xr-xroot root

K3b uses the executables in /usr/bin/x11/ which are just the same. I have not put suid on anything. I tried running cdrecord as a user, however the burn failed.I checked the .wav files and they play fine in kaffeine. I am using the same brand of blank CDs as the DVDs.I have not had the occasion to try a data CD I've run out of blank disks for the moment.

K3b detects my DVD/CD burner as:

The system device is /dev/sr0
interfaceGeneric SCSI
Vendor HL-DT-ST
DescriptionDVDRAM GSA-T40L
FirmwareKC07

I tried burning audio CDs in both TAO and DAO mode, neither with success.

Here is an example shortened K3b output:

scsidev: '/dev/sr0'
devname: '/dev/sr0'
scsibus: -2 target: -2 lun: -2

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Unable To Burn Audio CD With Ogg Files Using GnomeBaker?

Apr 4, 2010

For the longest I have been unable to burn an audio CD that contains ogg files with GnomeBaker, and have always had to decode to wav manually. Well I'm tired of doing that, so want to get to the bottom of the problem. Upon adding an ogg file to the file list, the error I receive is:

"The plugin to handle a file of type audio/ogg is not installed." I have all the gstreamer0.10-plugins-[base|bad|good|ugly] packages installed. I can play an .ogg file with rhythmbox.

Using gconf-editor, /system/gstreamer/0.10/audio/profiles/cdlossy is "active" and the cdlossy profile is listed in /system/gstreamer/0.10/audio/global/profile_list At a loss on what I need to do.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Streaming Audio / Music Without Flash

Jan 7, 2011

Have any of the main music streaming sites (ex. Pandora, Rhapsody, Grooveshark, etc.) made it possible to stream audio without using flash, (other than via iPhone apps)? Have any of them made any strides with regard to implementing html5 functionality?

I know html5 will make more options available for streaming audio over the web, but I have not seen or used html5 for anything yet. The only method that I know of for streaming audio without flash, although I haven't tried it, is via html5 video on ...... This is certainly a suboptimal method for streaming music since the audio quality cannot be guaranteed and is likely mediocre. Nonetheless, I've heard that it works. Also, as a second unrelated question, are there any open source flash players that you guys have used to stream audio from these music sites? I tried a group of different players like Gnash about 6 months ago and failed to stream Pandora or Grooveshark.

Ubuntu :: Listening To The Audio Then Recording Using Rhythembox Music Playeetc.

Feb 14, 2010

I have an audio source that I want to listen to through my PC speakers. My computer has both a mic(rophone) and a line-in audio connector. I am able to use the "gnome-sound-recorder 2.28.1" under Karmic Koala to record from these sources and then I can play back the sound.

However, I'm more interested in listening to the audio then recording. Though, recording would be nice if it where available too. Using Rhythembox Music Player, Movie Player and Audacious2 I am able to play CD(s), Pod Cast feeds, Files and possibly other sources I'm not seeing anything to handle hard wired input to my sound card as an option.

Do I need to open a device as a source? Do I need an extension to one of these players?

Hardware :: Audio Stops Shortly After Starting Playing Music

Nov 10, 2010

I have a computer that serves as a mp3 playlist for in the kitchen. I just installed it, and now the sound is not playing correctly. When playing a song with rhythmbox, it will crash after about 40 seconds. When I play it with Amarok, it produces sound for about 40 seconds and then the sound stops, although Amarok keeps playing.

I did the following to the system:

- I put an other computer completely in an other case (Motherboard, harddrives, memory, CPU, Power source (you know the box that powers the motherboard and harddrives, etc.) (Yes this has to be done )

- As for the front panel of the old case, the wires could not be attached to the motherboard, so I only attached: 'HD led' and the 'Power button', but I could not attach the front speaker to the motherboard.

- I reinstalled debian etch

- The motherboard had onboard sound in the back, so I didn't install an audio card. However, when I first booted with debian, there was no sound coming from the port. Therefore I installed an audio card in 1 of the PCI slots.

Fedora :: F11 Audio Volume Changes Everytime When Switch To New Song In Any Music Player?

Sep 2, 2009

First of all, this is not a rhythmbox issue, but a pulseaudio one. Everytime I click on next song (in rhythmbox or amarok), the master volume drops about 25 percent. Once the volume goes to 0, the volume cannot be modified without going into sound preferences and unmuting the volume for the application. This is *very* annoying. Basically, it means that everytime I click on next song, I need to follow that with 2 or 3 hits of up volume.
