The "AAMOV4.avi" file and the "AAMOV4.srt" file worked fine in "MEDIA PLAYER".
Okay running on 64bit karmic 9.10 i have been trying to get this .ts file to play nicely on vlc, but no success of getting it work nicely what so ever. It actually starts under VLC and gives image and sound but not the way i would prefer it. I don't quite get it but when i start it with vlc it actually displays it with lower resolution this is HD file, as its a stream capture from tv but it outputs it with much smaller resolution about 320 x 180. Tried it with other players too but the only one that accepted it nicely was xine "but problems ahead again" it outputs no sound? the image though was and is what it should be.
Tried it with Totem too and it did accept it too actually "hurray! but with the same symptoms as VLC + it doesn't output any sound out from the file only the image is what gets generated out from the player. I ran VLC from the terminal and it outputs following data when i start to play the file:

so if any ONE knows what should i do, feel free to step up and advise me would be appreciated (thanks in advance) If this has value if's mpeg2 ts file. And no...the file ain't corrupted that much i know, but what could generate this problem. If it ain't broken? Seeking works nice etc... except the low resolution display.
I have recently found a strange problem with my VLC Media Player, as it only has sound is certain file types, but on others it doesn't. I have tried to run .AVI files, and it plays sound, also tried .flv files, but with no luck. I am running Ubuntu 10.10.

View 3 Replies View RelatedKernel 2.6.21.5, Slackware 12.0 When I click on some audio stream links in my web browser (Mozilla Firefox), the stream comes in a URL ending in .pls, usually listen.pls. As I want mplayer to play it and not the default player, I intend to make the first the default one. In Firefox (2.0.0.4) I can do Edit>Preferences>Content>File Types>Manage and change the actions associated with each file type. However, if the type is, say, PDF, I can can only change the action if a PDF file has anytime been downloaded. So, the same goes for a PLS file.

The Download window not having open itsef, the PLS type does not appear in the window Edit>...>File Types>Manage leads to. And so, I cannot change the action. I tried to use Totem and Rhythmbox to play an mp3 file but it fails because of a missing decoder. I have found a solution that solve the problem through a repository. Unfortunately, the PC I'm using doesn't have internet connection so I'm looking for another approach. I couldn't find any rpm that would work for CentOS I could copy the my Linux system?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy .jar file needs and uses some files in the same directory it's in (everything, including the jar was unzipped into said directory). It runs perfectly when I do java -jar file.jar in the command line, but there's trouble when I double-click the file when running from the file system manager. I've tried a custom command under properties ie java -jar, but the problem is that the .jar file doesn't seem to be able to use any of the files in the same directory. When running, the jar can't find any of the files that it needs.

I have a logitech dinovo wireless keyboard with those extra multimedia keys on it like Volume Up, Volume Down, and Mute. They didn't do anything so I installed KeyTouch. I was able to select my keyboard from the list in KeyTouch, and if everything was working right then at that point all my extra keys would work. But they still didn't do anything. So I went into the Keytouch editor to make my own custom profile. You click add to add a new key and then it asks you to press a key. So I press the key (Mute) and it recognizes it, and then you select what action you want it to do. I did this for Mute, Volume Up and Volume Down. But yet they still don't work!
Now obviously it detects my key presses (keycode) just fine when I added the new key. So it should do the assigned action when I press that key. What I *want* it to do is mute or change the volume of the Headphones. But as I said that wasn't working at all for some reason. So to narrow it down I instead set the Mute key to simply launch firefox. But it still doesn't work. So there is some disconnect... in the keytouch editor it's detecting the key just fine, but afterwards when you press Mute it doesn't do the action it's supposed to.
I've media files like mp3, 3gp ..ect .. I was trying to run them from the application listed in video and sound ... such as movie player ammarok .. ect non of them was able to run any file... there is no error msg.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had screwed up a unsolvable Ubuntu install, so I had to reformat and reinstall. I did all that, installed my apps, but then saw and was convinced to upgrade to 10.10. It took forever, but it downloaded and installed the upgrade package. Since then, I have had a few issues that I had never had in 10.04. The other ones are in their own threads though. So, now when I either close my laptop lid or hit suspend, I can see it do some things, then either A. It goes to sleep. Or B. It just freezes.
No HDD activity, just those messages it displayed for suspending like it does when it works. I have screenshots attached of that. Also, in the default applet that provides you with the sleep option and shut-down, etc, sometimes the option Hibernate disapears. Now, I have seen how the menu is without it and like it that way. I think I need to be looking for a prefrence file for it, because I would like the option Hibernate to be removed from that menu.
1. How can I get the machine to go to sleep properly? This is mainly because I hate loosing what I am doing.
2. How do I remove the option "Hibernate" from Indicator Applet Session 0.4.6?
I installed Ubuntu 11.04 and then I installed WICD using Synaptic and then uninstalled Network Manager. WICD worked fine until I rebooted. Then I could not connect at all. Wicd displayed the wireless lans and even authenticated OK. But wicd was not able to obtain an IP address.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI love how totem handles using mousewheel up/down to change position in a media file. VLC doesn't do it the same way by default so I've been trying to find a way to replicate that feature. I found the appropriate actions and assigned mousewheel up/down for both the hotkey and global options. Unfortunately when I try to seek it only works if I mouse over the position bar or lower half of the application. If I am moused over the actual video the hotkeys don't work. In fullscreen the hotkeys don't work at all and I can only seek by holding my mouse over the position bar.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just installed Debian 5 and KDE. All works fine. I wanted to add in a 200GB IDE drive and all worked fine except when I use Konqueror to look at the drive contents it is unmounted. I can mount it o.k., but my question is:
Where do I put the mount command so that the drive mounts at startup? Do I have to set permissions as well and if so can i do this so that the drive is r/w accessible to me as a non root user? My system is just a desktop machine running Openoffice and Internet access.

I have a Z_Star webcam, which used to work perfectly well with OpenSUSE 11.3. At some time after updating to 11.4 (Tumbleweed, in fact) the device wasn't recognized any longer. Skype and Kopete both show that I have no available webcam device. The lsusb command (see below) shows the camera is there. What am I missing?

In Installed Fedora and the network did not mount or establish a connection. I installed and uninstalled over the last three days, ClearOS, Ubuntu, OpenSUSE all packages installed the network with any issues. View 2 Replies View RelatedHow do I get vlc to start at a specific time in a media file. I can do it easily in mplayer2, mpv but not vlc. Let's say the media file is named abc.avi (file format,container not important for this example.) Also the running time is around 2+ hrs. In mplayer2 and mpv I can simply do :-

When ever i'm playing a file in any player, Rhythmbox, Exaile, Totem... and i mean a sound file, i can't listen to my 5.1. Actually... when ever i choose from Sound Preferences -> Output -> Profile: 5.1 I can listen to the Bass kicking, and all my speakers works. Now, when i change manually the song, or automatically... or even when i Stop and then Start again the playback, i loose the Bass and not all my speakers works as intended. When i go to Output Profile again, 5.1 it's still selected. I have to change back to something else, like 4.1 or stereo and then back to 5.1 so the Bass and all speakers work again as they should.
