Software :: VLC Media Player In FC6 - No Such File Or Directory
Jan 18, 2010How to install VLC media player in Fedora Core 6. I tried to find out in the net, but all went in vain. From google I got this link [URL]. But if I follow the instructions given for FC6 in that link, am getting the following error.
# rpm -ivh [URL]
Retrieving [URL]
error: open of <!DOCTYPE failed: No such file or directory
error: open of HTML failed: No such file or directory
error: open of PUBLIC failed: No such file or directory
Any other rpm's for installing the VLC media player or let me know how to resolve this error.
Fedora Hardware :: File Will Not Copy To Media Player?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: VLC Media Player .ts File And Error?
Jan 1, 2010Okay running on 64bit karmic 9.10 i have been trying to get this .ts file to play nicely on vlc, but no success of getting it work nicely what so ever. It actually starts under VLC and gives image and sound but not the way i would prefer it. I don't quite get it but when i start it with vlc it actually displays it with lower resolution this is HD file, as its a stream capture from tv but it outputs it with much smaller resolution about 320 x 180. Tried it with other players too but the only one that accepted it nicely was xine "but problems ahead again" it outputs no sound? the image though was and is what it should be.
Tried it with Totem too and it did accept it too actually "hurray! but with the same symptoms as VLC + it doesn't output any sound out from the file only the image is what gets generated out from the player. I ran VLC from the terminal and it outputs following data when i start to play the file:

so if any ONE knows what should i do, feel free to step up and advise me would be appreciated (thanks in advance) If this has value if's mpeg2 ts file. And no...the file ain't corrupted that much i know, but what could generate this problem. If it ain't broken? Seeking works nice etc... except the low resolution display.

Jun 11, 2011Kernel 2.6.21.5, Slackware 12.0 When I click on some audio stream links in my web browser (Mozilla Firefox), the stream comes in a URL ending in .pls, usually listen.pls. As I want mplayer to play it and not the default player, I intend to make the first the default one. In Firefox (2.0.0.4) I can do Edit>Preferences>Content>File Types>Manage and change the actions associated with each file type. However, if the type is, say, PDF, I can can only change the action if a PDF file has anytime been downloaded. So, the same goes for a PLS file.
You have an example of the kind of link I talk about here: [URL] In the case of a radio broadcast audio stream, I am not downloading it, I think. At least, the Download window does not open. The Download window not having open itsef, the PLS type does not appear in the window Edit>...>File Types>Manage leads to. And so, I cannot change the action. The action would be 'Open them with this application': mplayer.

Jul 23, 2011I get an error when trying to convert a .avi file to a .iso file using Devede. If I leave the "Create a menu with the titles" option as is I get no error. But I don't want any slideshow so I untick that option. I then get this error when the process is almost done; Failed to create the DVD tree Maybe you ran out of disk space I do have enough disk space so that can't be the problem. Anyone know what to do about this problem?

Jan 26, 2009I'm looking for a tool that can directly convert mp3 file to a swf file. Tried ffmprg - 'ffmpeg -i master.mp3 -ar 22050 -ab 32 -f swf -y -vn new.swf', output is as follows:

I found a way to perform this task using ffmpeg to convert the mp3 file to a wav file, and converting the wav into a swf file using swftools (wav2swf), although this is not a good option because the output swf file size is very big - for a 12mb input 320kbps stereo mp3 file, the swf file is 25mb. Also downloaded a free direct mp3 to swf conversion software, which had an output swf file - with the same 12mb mp3 file - of ~400kb.
The requirements I have from the tool are:
1. Can be ran from the shell.
2. Direct conversion, or an indirect one that will produce a small output swf file.
3. Suport for multiple file conversion is a plus.

Feb 18, 2010In a project I'm working on with a few other people, I got the task of writing an assembler. The last thing I do is convert the commands into a binary representation, and jam it into a file. Now one of my teammates said he'd like to be able to "reference" the code within another program. He said he'd be able to do this if the file I output is a Linux object file. I'm thinking it'd also work as an executable. Anyway, he said he'd like to be able to grab the file and reference the binary by address. I'm still fuzzy on this, and if you're confused with what I said here, please tell me so I can ask him for better details.Anyway, I'm aware that gcc can compile files to ".o", but that's only for C/C++, and my file is just binary. I'm also aware of "ld", but I haven't seen any use of it to help me. I'm happy to hear suggestions as to what I can do. If anything, I think I'll implement a few functions to grab the bits and hand them to him in an array or something.
