It is recently I tried to put some music into my hand held media player, and not matter what I do, the file will just not gonna copy into the player memory. What I found in the system log is this

Any other rpm's for installing the VLC media player or let me know how to resolve this error.
Okay running on 64bit karmic 9.10 i have been trying to get this .ts file to play nicely on vlc, but no success of getting it work nicely what so ever. It actually starts under VLC and gives image and sound but not the way i would prefer it. I don't quite get it but when i start it with vlc it actually displays it with lower resolution this is HD file, as its a stream capture from tv but it outputs it with much smaller resolution about 320 x 180. Tried it with other players too but the only one that accepted it nicely was xine "but problems ahead again" it outputs no sound? the image though was and is what it should be.
Tried it with Totem too and it did accept it too actually "hurray! but with the same symptoms as VLC + it doesn't output any sound out from the file only the image is what gets generated out from the player. I ran VLC from the terminal and it outputs following data when i start to play the file:

so if any ONE knows what should i do, feel free to step up and advise me would be appreciated (thanks in advance) If this has value if's mpeg2 ts file. And no...the file ain't corrupted that much i know, but what could generate this problem. If it ain't broken? Seeking works nice etc... except the low resolution display.
I have tried to download vlc media player but the file type is a .exe file which is a windows file, and that wont run or even open on the linux system. How to find a compatable vlc for linux!

View 2 Replies View RelatedKernel 2.6.21.5, Slackware 12.0 When I click on some audio stream links in my web browser (Mozilla Firefox), the stream comes in a URL ending in .pls, usually listen.pls. As I want mplayer to play it and not the default player, I intend to make the first the default one. In Firefox (2.0.0.4) I can do Edit>Preferences>Content>File Types>Manage and change the actions associated with each file type. However, if the type is, say, PDF, I can can only change the action if a PDF file has anytime been downloaded. So, the same goes for a PLS file.

I tried to use Totem and Rhythmbox to play an mp3 file but it fails because of a missing decoder. I have found a solution that solve the problem through a repository. Unfortunately, the PC I'm using doesn't have internet connection so I'm looking for another approach. I couldn't find any rpm that would work for CentOS I could copy the my Linux system?

BUT, I found a problem: I can't play ANY media with ANY player; however, I can hear system sounds but music. I've tried several media players (Exaile, Amarok, Audacius) but none of them can play a song. The format of all my music library is MP3. In the pre-installed Rhytmbox and Totem it says something about codecs and searches for them, but finds none.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI tried so many times to configure vlc on fedora 11 . But all are failed things that tried are listed below:
Yum install vlc error-> no package found
Downloaded rpm for vlc and try to install but dependency errors
Downloaded mplyer and try to compile but ended with errors, compile with various combinations of parameters but errors are still there.
vlc media player seemed having trouble opening bigger files, say more than 400MB. And it would openavi files.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed VLC on F11 and it worked but after i updated F11, the video was smooth but the audio from VLC seems to have screwed up. I went to ..... and tried some vids, nothing's wrong and F11 still plays the usual system sounds. I have deleted and reinstalled VLC but to no avail. Unforunately, i did not know what i updated as there were just too many updates and i just acepted them all, maybe i shld not do that next time
View 3 Replies View RelatedBefore upgrading from Fedora 13 to v.14, VLC Media Player (v1.1.9) worked perfectly. But under Fedora 14, when I try to use it to play .AVI files that played perfectly under Fedora 13 (with the same hardware), VLC opens, stalls for a second, then closes. I've tried several files -- all of which play under Movie Player (and DID play on VLC under Fedora 13), so I know the files themselves are valid. I'd like either to have VLC work under Fedora 14, or revert back to Fedora 13 and permanently block any future upgrade to 14. easy way of rolling back to v.13 without losing my configurations or any of my installed software? Would using a Fedora 13 CD do it?
