I'm looking for a good video editor for after I make a video. I'm currently using gtk-record desktop, and I don't have a problem with that. It's when I use Pitivi that I actually can't edit the video or render it correctly. How to render the actual project. I'm using 10.04.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed Suse 11.3 a couple days ago. I have been using Ubuntu for the last 2 years and wanted to try something new. Everything has been working great so far except the widgets.
To add a widget, I click the icon on the right of the toolbar, click "Add Widget", and drag the widget to the desktop. When the widget appears it is stretched to the full width of the display and everything is scrunched vertically. A screenshot of the problem is below.
I am using emacs+auctex for latex editing now, I want to change the default viewer for dvi files, since xdvi doesn't render correctly most of my documents; okular works perfectly, though I cannot make it the default viewer I went into the AUCTex manual, and there is a tex-view-program list that should contain the list of viewers, but I cannot find the way to customize that variable.

View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone have a solution that actually works for creating video DVDs from beginning to end? My requirements are pretty simple, I would think. I need to take video from an NTSC DVD (which I made from 8mm analog tape), edit it, create a menu, and burn it. It doesn't have to be fancy. It just has to work. The total project is a little over 1 hour of video. I have reasonable computer power for this.
That doesn't seem like such a difficult task, but it actually requires using up to four different mutually incompatible programs, each of which has nearly infinite options, a huge number of intermediate file types, and infinite ways to fail. If there are intermediate files to be written, I need to know EXACTLY what files and formats to use, and what packages must be installed to use those formats. I don't care if the programs are KDE or Gnome (even a command line might work if the procedure is clear-cut).
The task consists of four parts:
* Rip or import an ordinary video from DVD. (This was made by a hardware DVD recorder).
* Edit videos. Create clips, cut, past, move, fade.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure this is the cause, but after I changed the properties of gstreamer, by following a fix on VLC freezing during video playback, I cannot control my desktop anymore.Luckily I can still switch windows thanks to docky. Unfortunately I cannot change the tab in the gstreamer-properties so I can reset my change. I changed the video from default to X11.How can I edit it manually from the command line?

I made a mistake editing the fstab folder for mounting a new partition, and now I can no longer boot. I attempted to use a live disc to edit correctly, and did so, however I still get errors on boot. I tried exporting a frame with Kino, editing with GIMP, and then re-inserting it into Kino, but Kino rejected the attempt.
Will Kino do this, or do I need to be using something else?
i've used ubuntu as main system from a few months to now and i'm finding my first big problem. I can use games and see movies without any problem, even using wine i can play wow at 40+ fps with medium/high options. Recently i've downloaded and instaled ogre and found that, if i try to render the sample modelit slows down. It says it is showing about 2kfps, but the model moves as if it was at 1 or 2 fps. By chance, i saw that if i open wow and then render the model of ogre, suddendly it goes smooth. Trying to find the problem, i went to the system test option of ubuntu11, when i arrieved glxgears test, it showed a really slow performance. Tried with wow opened and... magic!, it runs like hell XD. Then i tried calling glxgears from console, it says 9k+ fps, but again it went really slow! don't know whats happening.

Although I am an obsessed Ubuntu user, I am also a realist. When I have to give a presentation, I often have to use someone else's computer, and that system invariably runs windows. So when presenting via Powerpoint with embedded video on a default windows install, I need to be certain that the video format will play correctly. It is hard to convince windows users that Ubuntu is better if your videos/slides/documents etc don't play nice with their setups.
I have used kdenlive before (on OpenSuse) and it has a wmv export profile which works, but I was really hoping to sort this out using Ubuntu.

I realized what I could have done wrong. I added deb-multimedia.org as a repository and installed mythtv and avidemux. I also did an update with aptitude and an upgrade with aptitude.
Why is the font rendered so small on this site? C++ Shell? Before having Debian Stretch as a dual boot, the fonts rendered much better in the VBox VM after installing infinality.

Tried installing latest NVIDIA driver (NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-180.29-pkg2) from NVIDIA website for this video card, and the display was not appearing correctly. There was a lot of garbage at the top of the monitor. Half of the desktop screen was missing.
Is there a video editor that also allows me to edit the audio. For example I have 2 videos and want to take the audio from one clip and add it to the other clip. I have tried Avidemux and Pitivi but these don't seem to have this ability.

Here is my dilemma. I have a Kodak Playsport video camera that can record in 720p @ 60fps for action/sport type stuff. I have used it many times and am able to preview, import, and make movies/edit the video in Windows 7.
I tried doing the same in Ubuntu 11.04 using PiTiVi a couple of days ago. When I try to preview the clip, I get sound perfectly, but the video plays more like a slideshow with very big gaps. What can I do do rectify this?
Just installed the LXDE spin of 13 onto my acer aspire netbook. Couldn't make a usb boot stick, finally succeeded with an external card reader and unetbootin. Anyway, GXine isn't working, though it says its configured correctly. I'm very new to fedora and linux in general, played a bit with ubuntu 9.10.

I recorded someone using a VCR (tape) camcorder-it was all I had available. I've now recorded/transfered the tape to DVD format, so it's now digital instead of analog. I want to edit the file and separate it into smaller files. What's a good program to use?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI had my Lenovo T60 laptop working on Ubuntu 10.10 with visual effects and everything except for one thing the screen would flicker constantly I began to fiddle around with the Xserver trying to fix the flickering but I somehow regressed and am now unable to use visual effects. The Xserver fails to load any devices when I try to start it. Included is a copy of my xorg.conf file.
