View 5 RepliesI used dvgrab to pull the video off of my Cannon HV30 HDV camcorder. Now I have a bunch of 5 minute clips at about a gig each. I need to edit these together and use a better file type. What should I convert to, and what program should I use for encoding and editing?

Anyone know the proper syntax in Mencorder to convert a video just to audio? Or any other program I can use that won't cause this much trouble?

Here is my dilemma. I have a Kodak Playsport video camera that can record in 720p @ 60fps for action/sport type stuff. I have used it many times and am able to preview, import, and make movies/edit the video in Windows 7.
I tried doing the same in Ubuntu 11.04 using PiTiVi a couple of days ago. When I try to preview the clip, I get sound perfectly, but the video plays more like a slideshow with very big gaps. What can I do do rectify this?
I am trying to convert AVI video to MP4 for a PSP.
I have tried both AcetoneISO and Mobile Media Converter... both fail.
The error message from AcetoneISO is:

This was from using the "Convert video for PSP" option under the "Video" menu.

View 4 Replies View Relatedwhen i had windows xp i used to convert almost any videos video into audio (the whole video into audio) by going to [url], downloading vdownloader and just inserting the url in the box provided; waiting for a couple of minutes and having an mp3 format file at the location that i want it to be in the desktop. when i searched for something similar for linux, because vdownloader was an .exe file and obviously wasn't going to work on ubuntu.
i found that i could get a video downloaded from videos but not an audio - i wait for the video to finish buffering; click on places; computer; file system; tmp; then rename the video folder and copy/relocate it to where ever on the desktop. ending with this video format "flash video (video/x-flv)". my question is: is there a linux program where i get to convert the entire video format to an audio format, possibly mp3?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI saw numerous posts here on different programs people like to edit video and some of them are able to create slide shows. What slide show software is best on ubuntu? I cant figure out how to use them. It seems like they are embedded in the video programs. I understand the video stuff, but I dont see the slideshow options other than fade in/out/etc.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI wanted to make a video and edit it all together with special effects and all that good stuff, bells and whistles, I want something like Windows Movie Maker, or better, im not a pro at this, back when I was 16 I was pretty damn good but its been a while, I have downloaded a few different editing softwares that I have come across and im not happy with any of them, such as:
Avidemux
Pitivi
LiVES
now Pitivi comes standard with the newest install of ubuntu, but it sucks, sorry, its has nothing, or im missing something, and for LiVES I just cant seem to get it to do what I want, its very confusing, I just want something with a simple UI like WMM or something along those lines, it doenst have to be linux based, but if your going to give me something that doenst work fresh install,
Does anyone have a solution that actually works for creating video DVDs from beginning to end? My requirements are pretty simple, I would think. I need to take video from an NTSC DVD (which I made from 8mm analog tape), edit it, create a menu, and burn it. It doesn't have to be fancy. It just has to work. The total project is a little over 1 hour of video. I have reasonable computer power for this.
That doesn't seem like such a difficult task, but it actually requires using up to four different mutually incompatible programs, each of which has nearly infinite options, a huge number of intermediate file types, and infinite ways to fail. If there are intermediate files to be written, I need to know EXACTLY what files and formats to use, and what packages must be installed to use those formats. I don't care if the programs are KDE or Gnome (even a command line might work if the procedure is clear-cut).
The task consists of four parts:
* Rip or import an ordinary video from DVD. (This was made by a hardware DVD recorder).
* Edit videos. Create clips, cut, past, move, fade.
[code]....
I'm looking for a good video editor for after I make a video. I'm currently using gtk-record desktop, and I don't have a problem with that. It's when I use Pitivi that I actually can't edit the video or render it correctly. How to render the actual project. I'm using 10.04.

are there a good video and audio converters?
I have many video files that I'm trying to convert from *** to .mp4..Currently I'm using Handbrake which does a good job but getting it started is very tedious. In Handbrake I need to confirm and add to queue all of the files. When there are over 200 files at a time it takes way too long. If there is a way to not confirm all of the files please let me know. What program can I use to just add a folder and have it automatically add all of the files to my queue?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a linux application to convert video over a network/grid of computers. I currently have 4 new desktops that are just sitting around, all with the latest build of mint linux installed. My network consists of a 10/100/1000 switch, all desktops have matching NIC's. The videos i have are rather large in size and i would like to be able to have a "server" that will send out bits of the video, with a job to each desktop and have it converted and recompiled back to the server, and if it could convert these videos to a dvd that would be great. the videos i have now range from 8GB-11GB a piece, 33 videos all together, and it would take a single desktop ages to do anything with it. (also this is a nerdy way to do it )
I've done grid computing like this with Vegas Studio and After Effects on Windows but me and M$FT dont get along anymore .
