I have just installed KDE 3.5.10 on Kubuntu 9.10
I found that kmymoney is not working and after inspecting the packages I found the following

I'm able to open up kmymoney and create a new file, click on the new accounts, enter data, etc. When I try to open an existing file, it opens fine, however as soon as I click on any of the accounts it freezes. I ran the consistency checker and it resolved 10 errors, but still will not open.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the latest packages for kmymoney and kmm_ofximport installed on my system, but the 'file->import->ofx' menu item is not showing up as the kMyMoney manual leads me to believe it should. I do have the menu to 'map to online account' when right clicking an account, but it is not enabled for some reason. The plugin (KMyMoney OFX) is in the plugins list under the configure menu, so I'm kind of stumped.

I tried removing the programme and reloading via the software centre but no joy. If I re-name my date file to a different file type the programme loads normally but of course asks to start a new account.
It would seem that my data file is corrupted in some way?
I was wondering if anyone uses kmymoney? I am trying to setup an online account but I get errors when I try to map to an online account.my bank is M&T bank and quicken 2007 is no longer supported.

AqBanking 5.0.5
Gwenhyfwar 4.0.9
KMyMoney Plugin (kmm_kbanking) 1.0
I used to believe, that the plugin wasn't needed anymore in recent version of KMyMoney, but it seems, that I was wrong. With src2pkg I was able to compile AqBanking and Gwenhyfwar:

Then I used the SlackBuild script from SlackBuilds.org, modified the version to 4.5.3 and started it with ARCH=x86_64. Compilation ran through smooth, and I installed the package. However, HBCI support is disabled.
After some web research I came to the conclusion, that the KBanking module is still needed. So I grabbed it from the original source. Unfortunately I can't properly compile this one. Although I installed KDE3 and Qt3 compatibility packages from Slackware64-13.1 I get:

Has anyone managed to get through the whole process and to activate HBCI support in KMyMoney?
I wanted to try LibreOffice out. I found a PPA for it, so I added the source, tried it out, didn't like it, and noticed that openoffice now won't work. Which isn't too big of a deal, but now I can't even get the software center to install it. It gives me some error that you can read in the screenshot. What can I do?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI decided I didn't like unity all too much and I liked gnome 3 when I previously tried it, so I followed these instructions [URL] On how to install gnome 3, the next time I turned my computer on, I was greeted with a bright blue screen as the background of the login screen, and the only options are 'user defined session' and 'recovery console'. An error message that I can't recall came up with just a prompt to log out, now when I turn my computer on, the screen doesn't even come on (laptop with broken screen connected to external monitor, normally works perfectly) the screen won't come on at all an I can't get onto my 10.10 livecd
View 3 Replies View RelatedI changed partitions (partition X is now partition X+1) and can no longer boot. I get thrown into grub rescue. But even if I get past that, it still doesn't boot. (I can't see why because it's using an unsupported graphics mode by default, but that's another gripe). I would prefer an installation which is not fragile to changes in partition numbers or drive numbers. It's not 1975 any more, can't we use meaningful names instead of 0, 1, 2?
View 2 Replies View Relatedi used klamav to scan for virus. yes, klamav from the repository. the scan said it had found possible virus. ok so i removed them from /usr/lib. then i realized kalmav just removed important components to be able to boot 9.10 properly. my desktop is broke!! so what do i do? use klamav to scan another install of 9.10 and try to move the removed components from the new install to the broke?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI was having a problem with cairo dock, asked on the board how to resolve was told to reinstall the visual driver for my monitor since I have an ati vid card since with the updated kernal u have to reinstall those drivers(didn't know that, I'm new to opensuse). I thought I did that before so I completely uninstalled it so I could then do a fresh reinstall but I wasn't paying attention and my laptop was unplugged for a while. I stepped away while the install was going on and my laptop died.
I tried plugging it in but had to restart my laptop when I did I got the command line rows and when I tried to start GDM it wouldn't start, I did so as SU. Attempted to connect to the internet via networkmanager and couldn't get wifi or wired to work. Anyway I can access my desktop visually just so I can start yast and install the driver or will I have to reinstall 11.2 or use the cd to repair? If so how do I use the cd to repair?

It seems like this error is related to some handbook or translation documentation? Is there some dependency I'm missing? (There shouldn't be according to SB). Or is there a way I can block compiling this documentation in the build script? I tried commenting out "set -e" in the build script, but the resulting packing wouldn't run after I installed it.
I just downloaded the most recent version of the updates for Ubuntu 9.10 and for the 4th or 5th time since I've used 9.10 it's broken 9.10 so I can't boot. Usually after breaking it it just hangs at the screen between the big white ubuntu O and the next with the progress bar, this time after the big white O I get random multicolored characters at the top of the screen and the computer hangs with no activity, no hdd lights or anything. Unless anyone has any suggestions I'm just not going to use Ubuntu, at least until 10.04 is available this is really getting old.

I added PPAs for Midori, Webkit, Epiphany, Mozilla (for Firefox 3.7 and Thunderbird 3), and Banshee. Now I can't open Midori, Epiphany or (strangely) the Ubuntu Software Center.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThis was a bizarre problem with my systems bios confusing my usb wireless adapter and hard drive with one another! The solution was to unplug the adapter and reboot. I have been running a dual boot system with xp pro on one hard drive and Ubuntu 9.10 on a second hard drive, both are sata drives. I have been using this system for a few months and have been happy with it. A few days ago I decided to try to put Ubuntu 9.10 on a bootable usb, I followed the directions from help, but when I restarted my computer I could not boot from the usb device or boot from grub2. I read the grub2 documentation and tried all 3 methods of reinstalling grub from the live cd with no success. I then decided to install Lucid beta1 to a small partition on the second hard drive, when I rebooted I had grub 1.98 which recognized all three operating systems. This worked for a couple of days then again I got the error saying that the disk does not exist. I tried reinstalling grub using different methods, I even tried to use the fixmbr command on the xp disk, still no luck, now all I can do is use the live cd.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was using ffmpeg and mencoder making a video of some jpgs of my grandson when something weird happened.I entered a chmod command and then all I got was ">" on the left side of the terminal.I closed the terminal and reopened it and got back to where I was at and ended up with the same thing.I can not enter exit or anything else. I just have to close it.Rebooting didn't even help it. Now I cannot enter other commands like an ffmpeg command.I was able to cd to where I wanted to go, but when I got there and tried about any command I ended up with a ">" prompt.

I've been using Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick) for some time now as the OS for a home Nasbox, along with webmin. Its been great, and I've been able to SSH into the box without any issues in the past.Last night, I ran apt-get update and apt-get upgrade to bring my system more current.
Now, I can't seem to log into SSH any longer, and get a "Connection failed, Windows error 10061" error.I'm going to upgrade the OS to 11 as well in hopes things fix themselves.
I am having an issue with phpMyAdmin on my Xubuntu machine. I installed a few updates today and now my phpMyAdmin web interface site is not loading on the server. This is a local server running in my office. It appears that the page tries to load, but no output is delivered to the screen.
Taking a closer look at my updates, it looks like the following changes were made (along with some upgrades to Firefox):
When I use the 'Force Version....' command, I am given only two options the '4.8' version that I have now (the broken one) and a flat '4' version with no .7. Also, the force version didn't seem to do anything. I tried to Force a version and then mark a package for reinstall. When I did this Synaptic informed me that it was simply going to reinstall the 4.8 version.
What I would like to do is to revert to the 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.7 version of all of these files and then lock the version using Synaptic, to prevent this issue from recurring.
I am not afraid of heading to the command line either.

I have upgraded from 10.10 to 11.04. I have been using wmii as window manager under ubuntu for years. After the upgrade it's entirely broken.
The metakey is not working anymore, I cannot do anything. The key itself works fine in other environments so is's no hardware issue. After several attempts I completely uninstalled wmii, removed all relevant folders in home and /etc/X11 and reinstalled wmii from the ubuntu repositories.
This fresh install does not work. It starts a strange looking wmii without any key responding to my actions. I copied my old wmiirc to ~/.wmii. When i log in I see my individualized wmii but the metakey is not working and i cannot do anything, like opening a shell.
Edit: A change to "MODKEY=ALT" in wmiirc does not change anything.
I just upgraded to 11.04 with a fresh install on a Dell Inspiron E1405. Got everything else working, but can't get my BBTether to work again.
Message says it usually means the BB is not responding. But it is also happening with Virgin Mobil Broadband stick. Both are USB connections. USB flash drive seems to work.

I installed 11.04 from disc for a clean install on my dual boot vsta/ubuntu desktop.I was so frustrated that i had no wifi in 11.04 that i got out my 10.04 disk and triple booted that into the mix.Still no wifi (axcept in Vista) however if i unplug my usb wifi device and replug it in while in10.04 i will get the 'connection established' info box yet when i try to open Firefox i get the 'no internet connection or check firewall setting' drop down box.My wifi was working in 10.04 previous to 11.04 install.Note the unplug/replug usb does not work at all in 11.04.Also its strange that my wifi icon in 10.04 went from the bar graph style to the radiating arch style since the reinstall,even though i used the same install disc as pre 11.04

View 7 Replies View RelatedTo start from the beginning, I realised that I have no audio, so I tried a couple of fixes that I found online. Upon rebooting, all my graphics were very choppy (moving windows, scrolling etc). The sound is working though. I dont understand how fixing sound can mess with the graphics but hey it isnt working and thats what matters.I have an installer for the ATI drivers downloaded from ati.amd.com. when I had a clean install of Ubuntu 9.10 and installed these drivers everything worked 100% without any problems. Running the installer now doesnt seem to work. The log in /usr/share/ati/fglrx-install.log reports:

i upgraded my kernel to the latest version that being linux-image-2.6.31-19 and now when i start my linux box i get the grub shell. this problem happend once before but i only had to run the command: sudo update-grub2 and everything turned back normal. now even though i run the command everytime i restart my linux i get the grub shell.
I upgraded yesterday ubuntu 9.10 to 2.6.31-19 kernel. After reboot, I get stack to GRUB black screen. No possibilities.
My set-up is triple boot 9.04, 9.10 and winxp. The MBR is handled by win boot.ini with no problems. Each ubuntu partition has a grub installed in it.
9.04 is on sda5 with grub installed on it ext3
9.10 is on sda9 with grub2 installed on it ext4
I am able to boot into sda9, via grub of sda5 obviously passing the correct kernel parameters and UUID.
Firstly my gdesklets have gone, and if I try to run gdesklets then I get a blank window in the top left corner, followed by another blank window in the centre which disappears, then the first one fades to gray.
Secondly, clicking the 'running man' to exit just closes both gnome panels.
Ubuntu 8.04 (2.6.24-25)I know 8.04 is pretty old now, and I should probably start over, but it was all fine until this latest update.
I upgraded to 9.1 and now my web browsers are not working properly--FireFox would not connect to certain sites, others worked fine. I installed Chrome and it worked for a short period--now none of my browsers work at all and package install manager does not work. Overall performance is much slower than before upgrade--boot time is about 4 times slower. I'd like to fix this build because I had it tweaked just the way I liked it before the upgrade--it was working great and now I'm sorry I upgraded there any hope or should I just start with a fresh install of 9.1 or even the previous version
