I'm able to open up kmymoney and create a new file, click on the new accounts, enter data, etc. When I try to open an existing file, it opens fine, however as soon as I click on any of the accounts it freezes. I ran the consistency checker and it resolved 10 errors, but still will not open.

View 1 Replies View RelatedYesterday Ubuntu One stopped syncing properly: all files and folders were listed on the web site grayed out and tagged with "uploading", while there was "0 bytes Used". I could still upload files manually to the website fairly quickly, so it probably wasn't purely server overload. Anyway, a number of things happened after that:uninstalled the Ubuntu One client packages and reinstalled them in Account settings on the website, I removed my computer, hoping to make a fresh start the Ubuntu online account login system for some reason forced me to change my password (presumably it wasn't strong enough)
After all that, I can still login to the website (with the new password), but the computer can't login. When I type u1sdtool -s in terminal, the result is

When I open Ubuntu One Preferences from the Me menu, it completely freezes at the Account tab; I can't click anything or even close it (have to kill it in terminal).
I suppose the login failure has to do with the old password whcih was saved in the keyring. The removed computer from the account probably complicates the issue.
I have just installed KDE 3.5.10 on Kubuntu 9.10
I found that kmymoney is not working and after inspecting the packages I found the following

I have the latest packages for kmymoney and kmm_ofximport installed on my system, but the 'file->import->ofx' menu item is not showing up as the kMyMoney manual leads me to believe it should. I do have the menu to 'map to online account' when right clicking an account, but it is not enabled for some reason. The plugin (KMyMoney OFX) is in the plugins list under the configure menu, so I'm kind of stumped.

I tried removing the programme and reloading via the software centre but no joy. If I re-name my date file to a different file type the programme loads normally but of course asks to start a new account.
It would seem that my data file is corrupted in some way?
I am trying to get Kmymoney working with HBCI support on my Slackware64-13.37 system. My understanding is, that there are three dependencies for Kmymoney 4.5.3:
AqBanking 5.0.5
Gwenhyfwar 4.0.9
KMyMoney Plugin (kmm_kbanking) 1.0
I used to believe, that the plugin wasn't needed anymore in recent version of KMyMoney, but it seems, that I was wrong. With src2pkg I was able to compile AqBanking and Gwenhyfwar:

After some web research I came to the conclusion, that the KBanking module is still needed. So I grabbed it from the original source. Unfortunately I can't properly compile this one. Although I installed KDE3 and Qt3 compatibility packages from Slackware64-13.1 I get:

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've recently installed Nautilus Actions Configuration Tool (NACT), because I was interested in adding some more entries in my right click context menu. I've downloaded and installed successfully several nautilus actions. However, I'd like to add a script in the right-clicked menu. I know that the easiest way is to put the script in the " ~/.gnome2/nautilus-scripts" directory, but I'd like to add it through NACT, because NACT can set script to appear only for certain type of file (for example only for folders). Also, through NACT I can add icon for the action, so that I can distinguish the action quickly.
The script is called "open file location" (download link: [URL]... The main problem is that I don't know which parameters to add, so that the command functions correctly. Can anybody make it function? I use Ubuntu 10.04 and NACT 2.30.2

When I double click on the script nothing happens. If t try to run it through terminal, it runs ok. In the Previous Ubuntu version (10.04) when I double-clicked a script it popped up some choices. Run in terminal, display, etc. That does not happen now.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSince I installed Maverick, I've had trouble with Chrome and Firefox tabs. When I click a link, sometimes (50-60% of the time) the link opens in a new tab. When I click on tabs, again 50-60% of the time, they close. It's been happening since I installed Maverick, and there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to when I get a new tab or a tab closes. I have a Compaq Presario V6000 running 64bit Maverick with an Nvidia card.

I want to change my splash screen (it's currently set to the Macbuntu one), but it won't start up when clicked on. I have the Screenlet Sysmonitor, and it doesn't even show the process as starting when clicked on as if I did nothing. Running Ubuntu 10.10, Acer Aspire 5520.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have been burning a few CDs. When I inserted the blank CD I was queried what to set the default action as, and I selected 'Do Nothing'. The CDRom drive now does not attempt to read or mount anything inserted into it. It shows up in Nautilus under 'Computer', but does not appear to be mounted properly otherwise.
I am using Ubuntu 10.04 desktop.
I have a problem with the Google search box top right corner in Konqueror, when entering search I recieve an error page "Unsupported Protocol" Google asks for ioslave or kioslave. Also when highlighting text on a page and right clicking with the mouse no search option is given. I created a new user and all works as it should for the new user. What is wrong with my user account? I have reset default values in Konqueror setup.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been running Ubuntu desktop on my Acer Aspire One AOA150-1635 for over a year now in one form or another. I originally dual booted XP and Ubuntu Netbook Remix but decided against the remix when I did a clean install (over a year ago). All the issues I had then were the same issues others were having and have been fixed for a long time. I just recently upgraded to 10.10. I am unsure if this problem was present prior to the upgrade and I just hadn't run across it yet. I am also getting ready to upgrade my desktop and am afraid I will have the same issues.
It seems that certain windows don't fit on this desktop. For instance when I open Compiz config settings manager the bottom of the window is below the screen. When I try to click an option the window jumps and the same thing happens to the top. I can also click anywhere on the window to make this happen. I have included a couple pictures (taken with my camera please forgive the quality) to show you exactly what it is doing. It is getting rather annoying when I try to open one thing and the other right above or below it opens instead. I have to place my pointer in the spot where the item I am selecting will be after it jumps in order to open what I mean to open. When I right click it gives me options as if I was right clicking on the desktop background. The other issue which seems to be related is not being able to get to certain parts of longer windows such as Gnome color chooser. It seems to run off screen as well.
I recently downloaded Firefox 5.0 Aurora (alpha). I just extracted the tarball in my home directory and the program itself seems to work okay. However, when I add the shortcut to the launcher it does nothing more than blink when clicked. The only way I've found to get the Firefox to open without running from terminal was to add a symbolic link to the desktop, which is fine I suppose. I was just curious if there is a way to edit the launcher icon itself to make it work, or a more sophisticated install procedure that I need to use.

Purpose: I want to set up a system tray icon that will hide/unhide the desktop when clicked, much as would the standard desktop panel plugin for the various panel apps like lxpanel, gnome panel, etc.
Why don't I just use a panel app?
I am using a very reduced install of Ubuntu Lucid oriented towards first time PC users on very old hardware, using Openbox as the window manager and Tint2 with lxlauncher instead of a panel, the latter both compiled from latest source for some slight customization. Tint2 is a taskbar that also features a built in clock applet and system tray which I have chosen after examining basically all other alternatives and chosen for its light footprint and customization. It gives me everything I need except a single click hide/show-desktop feature or a halt/reboot/logout menu. lxlauncher is a very lightweight alternative to the Ubuntu Netbook Remix netbook-launcher (and/or netbook-launcher-efl) package that conforms to the freedesk specifications and occupies all free deskspace other than tint2, under all other windows. I used the freedesk specs to set up a "shutdown" menu category and created shutdown.desktop reboot.desktop and logout.desktop files in the category to add that feature, using dbus commands for the first two and 'openbox --exit' for the latter.
I set the openbox config to open all app windows maximized with no decoration, so each app takes up the whole screen other than tint2 and can only be closed by right clicking on its icon in tint2 or by its file->Quit menu.
This gives me a kind of OLPC for grown ups with no computer experience. In other words, for people who don't know what a desktop or window is. This is similar to the Ubuntu Netbook Remix except that in UNR they superimpose the window decorations over the gnome panel so you can still close the window.
However, the one problem here is that to see lxlauncher when one has several apps running, one has to click on each app in tint2 to minimize it. I would like to add a system tray icon to make this possible with one click without adding too much more overhead to the existing setup.

BTW, I will use wmctrl to test the desktop visibility state and toggle it using this bash command: test 'wmctrl -m | grep ON' && wmctrl -k on || wmctrl -k off
how to get an icon in the system tray and run the above command when clicked will be appreciated
P.S. I've looked at 'zenity --notification --listen' but running a command when the icon is clicked in this case is a pending feature for the app and not yet implemented. My last resort will be to learn C and try that.
After upgrading from Lucid to Maverick my Clock applet is acting up. When I click it there is a delay of about 1 minute 16 seconds before it responds. The time display does not change while this delay is taking place. I had several locations setup and I figured it may be causing the issue so I removed the Clock applet from the panel and then re-added it. Even with default settings and no extra locations defined it still has the delay but only when clicked. If I leave it alone it chugs along with the current time. I have applied all updates and restarted. I have killed all the gnome panels and let them reload but nothing seems to effect this behavior.
All of my other gnome panel applets are working fine.Does this ring any bells? Is anyone else having similar issues?
Posted this in the wrong section so I'm reposting it, is that ok? I installed lxde and logged out and switched to it, but my internet wasn't working (but that's a different thread after I fix this, I was going to try installing wicd) So I tried to go back to gnome, I misclicked and accidentally started a different session. I think it said openbox/gnome, all I get is a blank screen with just the desktop background. It's set to automatically log me in, so when I restart my computer it goes back to the blank screen. How do I get back to the login screen?

It seems like this error is related to some handbook or translation documentation? Is there some dependency I'm missing? (There shouldn't be according to SB). Or is there a way I can block compiling this documentation in the build script? I tried commenting out "set -e" in the build script, but the resulting packing wouldn't run after I installed it.
Does anyone know of a way to make the 'activities' button go from scroll over to when clicked.is that even possible....
View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed 11.2 Gnome 32 bit version and I notice that when I insert a USB stick (8G) that it either will not open, or it takes several minutes; on another distro, the same stick is instantly recognised, and a window opens immediately; I went back and booted up the liveCD; I notice now the liveCD does this too; (I now see a window has opened from the USB stick after about 3mins); is there some way I can investigate; or describe this behaviour of the system ?

When I click on the Easy-install icon, I see the cursor change to a watch, and then it stops, and Easy-install does not start. I have run:

The latter being recommended when I searched google (Apparently apt-get sometimes removes ruby which easyinstall uses) It turns out I did need ruby, But my easy-install remains closed...
language-pack-en, language-pack-en-base, language-pack-kde-en, language-pack-kde-en-base, libsoup2.4-1, libsoup-gnome2.4-1, pm-utils today on my laptop. Some hours later, I had to force the computer to shut down by pressing the power button, since it got totally lagged when I started it after an automatic sleep due to no power left. I started it, logged in and saw that the network manager was unmanaged. I got that message when I clicked the icon at the right-bottom bar.
So, I tried with "ifconfig" in a Terminal, as root.Therefor, I did "sudo ifconfig eth1 up", and the same with eth0. The network manager did not work anyways. I killed it using "sudo killall -9 knetworkmanager" and started it with "knetworkmanager" from the Terminal. The icon got removed and it appeared again, but nothing changed - it said "network manager disables", as before.I logged off and select "Restart X server" from the login screen. I logged in again and tried. Didn't work. When I restarted my computer I saw that eth0 and eth1 was down again. I took them up and then I checked the hardware settings. I saw that I could use either KNetworkManager, Fake Net or Wicd. I tried to locate if I had Wicd or Fake Net installed, but I hadn't.
Neither the wireless or the wired connection works now. I'd like to know how to fix the Network Manager, or whatever is wrong. Also, I'd like to know if I can install Wicd using a CD or something. Maybe Wicd works better, I have no idea. I'm using Kubuntu 10.04, the final release.
I accidentally clicked remove this from the panel and can no longer see what windows are open in my browser. How can I restore this?
