View 2 Replies View RelatedI go to System>Preferences>Sound>Input. The setting, that I had previously placed at 50 %, is now at 10 %. I try to drag it with the mouse but it refuses to move. I have to hang up the communication and then take it back to 50 %. After I call again, we can talk OK. What can I do to correct this trouble? I am using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - the Lucid Lynx - released in April 2010.

I'm running 32-bit Ubuntu 10.10 on a Macbook 3,1 and using my computer's built in iSight. Up until recently, before making the switch to Skype Beta 2.2, I was having no problems using Skype's video chat feature. However, now I am only able to get video working if I open a terminal window and type in:
"LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so skype"
Does anyone know of a way to get Skype functioning normally again? The launchers from my menu/panel no longer load the Skype that can use video, and when I tried to change the launch command to what what I use in terminal, it keeps telling me that "there was an error creating the child process for this terminal."

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a IOgear USB bluetooth adapter and a Sony DRBT101/BLK bluetooth headphones to use with my computer.Whenever I try to make a call using these headphones with skype, I can speak for say 10 seconds and then the headset disconnects completely from the system. I then have to reconnect the headset by switching it off and on. I do not have this problem listening to music using A2DP. It works fine with my mobile phone. When I change the profile to Telephony Duplex (HSP/HFP), it shows up as hands free, I thought it should be headset in blueman manager. My friend uses Plantronics headset with is Dell laptop with built in bluetooth and he says his comes up as headset not hands free. Could this be causing the problem?

I have been trying to fix skype for a while now and it's failing to resolve anything. It's like skype is frozen in time, and stops workings.
I've tried this method, sudo chmod ugo+r libpulse.so.0.12.2 [URL]
More details on the freezing issue: Skype freezes [kinda], it's like it's frozen in time, but I can click on the interface and change options, but nothing changes, it shows that the same friends are online even though they have signed off, I can message them but a yellow '!' mark appears by the message.
My Error:

Everything is working fine however I have just installed the Skype beta deb package for Ubuntu 8.10+ 64b and it won't let me sign on. The installation as far as I know went fine however when I go to enter my UN and PW the "Sign In" button will not light up.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Ubuntu Hardy. I tried to install Skype and it showed this error message "Skype dependency is not satisfiable libasound2". Then I check the synaptic manager it shows that the libasound2 is already installed. Then I reinstalled the libasound2 using terminal. But the error is still showing. On googleing I found in most of the forums the solution was to upgrade from edgy to feisty so it was no use to me.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get Skype running on my Dell Laptop. I am quiet new to Linux, but have e decent understanding of it.
Anyway, the problem is that I as soon as I start skype the error: 1814 occures
System error: Code 1814
Resource name not found
It says in a different window
The programm skype.exe has encountered a serioys problem and needs to close...
This can be caused by a problem in the programm or a defiency in Wine You may want to check...for tips.
Well I cant find anything with the same or similar problem and I also can not uninstall skype using the wine uninstaller. It just doenst do it.
After installing (not upgrading) Ubuntu 10.04 official release, there is a problem with skype latest version. Sometime Skype dies, and it is impossible to restart it (only killall -9, and then launching), if im trying quit all skype windows turning gray and thats all. Messages that are sending to others are not sent, and also opponents can't send messages to me. It was OK with same skype version in ubuntu 9.10.
