I have an old version of skype running.
I downloaded the latest version for my ubuntu installation.
skype-ubuntu-intrepid_2.1.0.81-1_i386.deb
On running Gdebi package installer i get the following message:
Error: Dependancy is not satisfiable : libasound2
Ichecked and libasound 2 is installed and i re-installed it from synaptic manager.
I've just bought a new laptop (Acer 3810T - which has a "Core 2 Solo Processor) - so I have installed Linux for the first time in my life.... Ubuntu 9.10-desktop-amd64.iso - so far so good, I'm very very impressed and the operating system seems to be working fine. I assume that I have chosen correctly the AMD64 version then.
Fastforward to Skype installation, and I download the version (skype-ubuntu-intrepid_2.1.0.81-1_amd64.deb) - which is the best match as far as I can tell from Skype's website. However when I come to install it, I get the follwoing error: Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: lib32stdc++6 (>= 4.1.1-21)
I am using Ubuntu Hardy. I tried to install Skype and it showed this error message "Skype dependency is not satisfiable libasound2". Then I check the synaptic manager it shows that the libasound2 is already installed. Then I reinstalled the libasound2 using terminal. But the error is still showing. On googleing I found in most of the forums the solution was to upgrade from edgy to feisty so it was no use to me.

Also, on newer versions, there seems to be no text install option. I saw in the stickies there is this option, and I was wondering how to get to it? View 5 Replies View Relatedim a long time Ubuntu user that is giving Fedora a spin using Virtualbox on my Win7 machine. I have managed to get it up and running and guest additions working but have run into a problem with a few of the updates available in the Software Updates section.
It originally had around 75+ updates to install and seemed to do this fine. Unfortunately after a reboot and new check it comes up with 11 new updates. When I run install updates it gives me an error (see this post title) along with this bit of gibberish:

This can be caused by a problem in the programm or a defiency in Wine You may want to check...for tips.
Well I cant find anything with the same or similar problem and I also can not uninstall skype using the wine uninstaller. It just doenst do it.
I was trying to convert a video from avi to mpeg2 using ffmpeg, but I encountered an error saying , unable to load filters, in reply to this issue, I read, I would need to have a complete mplayer setup on my system.
So i tried yum update mplayer but it gave me a dependency error regarding some vlc libs, so i tried to update vlc but still the same problem. I removed them, thinking of a reinstall, but it gives me the same errors on trying their fresh installs.
Then I thought of updating gnome by yum update @gnome-desktop, so what ever I try to install or update from the terminal gives me this error:

In attempt to update to LMMS 0.4.5, I downloaded & attempted to install : lmms_0.4.5~ppa-1jaunty_i386.deb and got the following error message : Error : Dependency is not satisfiable : lmms-common (=0.4.5~ppa-1jaunty). What went wrong and is there an easier way to update ? Also, should I remove the older version or just install the latest on top of it ?

[URL].. when i try to install the .deb (cndrvcups-capt_1.90-1_i386.deb) i get Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: libstdc++5 i guess because we are now on ++6 how do i tell the install that, i looked in the control part of the .deb and can see where it is set but don't know how to change it and then build the .deb again (plus i don't know of that would work) or is there a way to fool the package into thinking ++5 is still installed?

I would like to install wxCam in Ubuntu 10.04 and I have downloaded the file wxcam_1.0.7_i386.deb
Then I have installed with Synaptic Package Manager the following packages:

Next step is double click on wxcam_1.0.7_i386.deb
And I obtained the following error: Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: libwxbase2.8-0 (>=2.8.11.0)
Synaptic Package Manager shows me that the latest version is 2.8.10.1-oubuntu1.2. So what means (>=2.8.11.0) ?
When I remove the packages �libwxbase�, then again I have the same error.

I've just installed ubuntu and wanted to give it a go. However trying to download and installing my favorite browser I get an error: Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: libqt3-mt (>= 3.3.4) im downloading the default package, and ran the package install thingy. I googled around trying to find a solution, but I found mostly for older versions of ubuntu and dont know if they apply to my problem. This new version has been available at the web site since November,but has yet to be updated on the Ubuntu sites.Anyway,I tried to install it by double-clicking it in Nautilus.
