Everything is working fine however I have just installed the Skype beta deb package for Ubuntu 8.10+ 64b and it won't let me sign on. The installation as far as I know went fine however when I go to enter my UN and PW the "Sign In" button will not light up.

I've got Ubuntu 11.04 here and I am currently downloading oneiric ocelot iso. My question is: can I simply upgrade from my current Ubuntu version to oneiric? I've got some pretty important files on my current Ubuntu and I don't want to loose them and yet very much interested to see what oneiric ocelot.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a fedora 11 with kernel package: kernel-PAE-2.6.29.6-217.2.3.fc11.i686
I would like to install the devel package for this kernel version, but I can't find it, because in the fedora repo there is only the original kernel (2.6.29.4....) and in the updates repo there is only the newest kernel package (2.6.30....)
Where can I find the packages which are between the fedora and update repos' versions?

Does anyone have an rpm or a link to an rpm of Skype 2.0.27 or prior? This latest (2.1) beta version just isn't working for me and skype seems to have taken all other releases off their website.

Which is the current stable version of kernel in fedora 10 and how can I installed because right now I have unstable kernel:
uname -a
Linux blind 2.6.29.3-60.fc10.x86_64 #1 SMP Sat May 9 04:18:14 EDT 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I just want to get back to latest stable kernel of fedora 10. I'm not able from the grub to choose an older because there are only kernels for fedora 9. The problem was that previously I used fedora 9 however I upgrade it but it was still with kernel of fedora 9 so I pick it the unstable of fedora 10 and I installed it. Right now I just want to get back to current version of kernel in fedora 10 so I can upgrade it to fedora 11.
Since there is no notification area any more in 11.04, where is the skype icon of the running skype instance?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to do some modules development in fedora 11, by the command uname -r, I get the current kernel running in my system.
Code:
$ uname -r
2.6.30.10-105.2.23.fc11.i686.PAE
But when I run the following command
Code:
# yum install kernel-devel
the package what I installed is kernel-devel-2.6.30.10-105.2.23.fc11.i586 and kernel
development directory is /usr/src/kernels/2.6.30.10-105.2.23.fc11.i586
So,the modules I developed can't insert to current running kernel because current is i686 and the compile environment is i586. Is that a bug of fedora 11?
How do i check for updates to the current version of rkhunter and if possible upgrade to a new version?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install Skype in Fedora 12 KDE which I just installed recently. I just upgrade to F12 from F10 and having problem with Skype mic audio. it was working well with F10 before.
I have try to plug in a mic for internal sound card and using external USB headse, both sources could not capture my mic audio. I try to use Gnome Volume preference to select the source and it makes no different. I also noticed the output volume is low on USB headset too
Just get it working on playing with Gnome Volume preference. I find that on headset input and output audio, I have to crank it up to 100% range to get it working. Volume control seems to be useful from 80-100% Problem solved, hope pulseaudio would improve the volume control
It looks like firefox 3.6 was released today - fantastic, except for those of us who develop/test websites (yeah, usually FF is pretty stable between versions, but still...). I'd like to be able to install 3.6 under F12 alongside my current FF 3.5 , running under separate profiles (preferably with a 64-bit build). Is my only option to download it from mozilla.org, and just install it under /opt/ or somesuch place? Is there an RPM that I can install somewhere which won't overwrite my current 3.5 installation?

I may require some aid in installing Fedora 13 (via a burned CD iso image) on a double boot system with Windows 7 as default. After going through the keyboard mapping and time-zone selection, I had the option of shrinking my Windows to accommodate Fedora, which I chose. The following selection appeared:
/dev/sda1.ntfs 0MB
/dev/sda2.ntfs 0MB
/dev/sda3.ntfs 0MB
If I try to decrease any of them, this communication materialises: Error: new size same as old size. So I canceled the installation set-up and rebooted Windows. I'm quite new to alternative operating systems (having used Windows all my life) and would appreciate a concise and legible answer.
I have a fedora 11 installation on my machine , with a customized partitioning of the 500GB sata HDD , I wanted to create a exact replica image on a USB stick , for future installations on other 500GB sata HDDs .. while only need to create a copy of the 5 GB (/boot + / ) while the remaining 400 GB + is a Data Logger partition which can be created by a script. I tried doing a rsync .. but have got stuck up with the bootable drive configs et all ..

Is there any way to keep a local install of Fedora current will all the latest releases? example If I'm running F13, is there a failsafe method to have F13 become F14 with out all the drama of reformatting and installing off the dvd? In the past all my attempts have failed, possibily due to having multiple repos is use and kernel patches applied (nvidia central).
View 8 Replies View RelatedCurrently I have a dual boot Win 7 / Fedora 14 on my Dell Inspiron 1546. After being unable to upgrade to F15 I think it's time to try something different like Ubuntu 11.04. I'd like to format all the Linux partitions, install Ubuntu there and being able to boot to Win 7 from Grub (just like I currently do with Fedora). Can I just go ahead and install like usual, or is there anything else I should consider? Do you think Ubuntu will have a problem finding Win7?
