I recently bought a IOgear USB bluetooth adapter and a Sony DRBT101/BLK bluetooth headphones to use with my computer.Whenever I try to make a call using these headphones with skype, I can speak for say 10 seconds and then the headset disconnects completely from the system. I then have to reconnect the headset by switching it off and on. I do not have this problem listening to music using A2DP. It works fine with my mobile phone. When I change the profile to Telephony Duplex (HSP/HFP), it shows up as hands free, I thought it should be headset in blueman manager. My friend uses Plantronics headset with is Dell laptop with built in bluetooth and he says his comes up as headset not hands free. Could this be causing the problem?

View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes anybody know a good option for a Skype based solution that works on Linux? I have a real problem with the current Linux version as it is a crappy, buggy and downgraded version of the Windows equivalent.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just recently purchased a 3g dongle for my netbook. Everything seems to be working fine until I discovered this strange problem. I cant seem to text via skype, it doesnt go through. I testet the skype test call service and voice works fine, audio and mic. I have tried to google and search forums but no luck. I have before used skype on my netbook with my cellphone as a hot spot and it worked without problem but it doesnt have the same provider - different sim cards in phone and dongle.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm literally about a week into using Linux, and I'm using Ubuntu Netbook Remix. Now, pardon me, I'm new to this, so I won't be using any kind of correct terminology or anything.I've been having so many problems, but I'll ignore most of them for now. I want to download Skype, really bad. However, I downloaded it, and tried installing it through... er, Ubuntu Software Center. Yeah. And it went to almost finished but never completely finished installing. I had it sitting for about five hours, and nothing.that's pretty much what it looked like for a few hours.I'm kind of desperate and really frustrated.(Also, if anyone wants to help me now that I have your attention, it takes for-freaking-ever to switch in between applications. Is there a reason for this, or is it just because I'm on a netbook with not much memory?)
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I get on skype and make a call, the person I can can't hear me and when I check my Mic settings, there is only one option and it obviously doesn't work. Is there a way to check and see which driver I need or how to download/install it?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded & installed the skype beta release for linux (now ancient?) on my newly build fedora 14 (64) box.
Under fedora 12, I made this work after several hours of mucking around by installing old libraries for 32 bit code in /lib and /usr/lib - as I got an error, I found the library and put it in place. This was painful and the WRONG way to do things - I should have been using yum!
It remains a shame that the Skype release for Linux is so old, but that is life.
Can anyone list the libraries needed (prefer yum names if possible) to make this work?
I can do this again the hard way and list the results for others (should have saved for myself, but I never dreamed that a newer Skype release would take so long) , but I am sure many folks have this working already. I am surprised there is no "yum install skype---" command.
I have problem with Mic in Skype. I'm using Skype 2.1 Beta for Linux. I'm using laptop: ASUS X51Lseries; I don't know may be problem with drivers;
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was using skype to make video calls from my windows machine to my home to contact my parents...who use another windows machine..without any problems for the last one month.
I switched to ubuntu just yesterday and installed skype..
Talking over to them was a pain...the line was full of disturbances and the
video was only one way though I recieved calls and could see them they could not see me
I need to use Skype to contact my kids in South Africa. I live in the UK. This is very important for me. Surely there must be a fix by now on 64bit 10.04 to use mic capture or a workaround.
View 7 Replies View RelatedRecently i was about to installing skype, for that i have to check the repostory in the software Source...after that it shows me the message for Reload and then it starts Downloading but at the last it shows me the message "Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
"
I was wondering if there exists a software that can change your voice over Skype (acting as a virtual sound driver in order to change the sound in real time). It would be nice because I really want one of these.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had my Logitech Webcam/mic working perfectly, in 8.10, but when I upgraded to 9.10, the video stopped working. The camera works in lots of other software,Cheese to luvcview to testing with gstreamer-properties But Skype's video crashes when I try to use the video camera. Usually a segmentation fault.
Lots of other threads here suggest that using the version of skpye packages in medibuntu is the solution. So I added medibuntu to my /etc/apt/sources.list, reloaded to get the latest directories. I don't see any "skype" to install, either in Synaptics or in the shell with apt-get Output from apt-cache search is
# apt-cache search skype
skytools - Database management tools from Skype to PostgreSQL
python-skype - Skype API wrapper for Python
skysentials - extra functionalities for Linux Skype client
skype-mid - Skype for MIDs
p.s. any one have clues as to why this broke going from 9.04 to 9.10?
I go to System>Preferences>Sound>Input. The setting, that I had previously placed at 50 %, is now at 10 %. I try to drag it with the mouse but it refuses to move. I have to hang up the communication and then take it back to 50 %. After I call again, we can talk OK. What can I do to correct this trouble? I am using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - the Lucid Lynx - released in April 2010.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI installed skype, and all the sound works, except for the fact that it doesn't ring when someone calls me!!! All i see is a little pop up that says someone is calling me, but I cannot hear the ringtone. When i pick up, i hear the other end clearly, there's just no ringtone with someone calls me
Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?
Everything works outside of Skype. Speakers work in Skype, but the microphone stays dead. I've dumped Pulseaudio, made sure volume is up in Alsa, rebooted, but Skype still lists Pulseaudio as what it's using! How do I get its tiny mind to use something else? There was also a thread saying an earlier version of Skype, 2.1.0.47, used to work, but I can't find a 64-bit version of that. I've got the 32-bit version which I could run in a 32-bit ubuntu in virtualbox, but fergawdssake there has to be a better way!How do I make sure the system isn't still somehow using Pulseaudio? I did purge it. It should be gone. Output of various system specs:
Code:

Linux bunty 2.6.32-23-generic #37-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jun 11 08:03:28 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux

i just installed ubuntu netbook remix 10.04.1 on an aspire one 532h netbook, and everything works great except i cant get the mic to work with skype. i know the mic is working correctly because i tried it in sound recorder and was able to record and playback my voice.all sound levels are where they should be, and everything seems to be in order. i'm using the latest beta of skype also. i installed pavucontrol but that didn't do anything.because the mic is working, i'm beginning to think it may be a problem with skype.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust upgraded to Lucid (32bit), pulse generally seems to work ok: I get sound out, I can see various apps connecting via the Sound Preferences dialog (audacious, flash via alsa interface, etc.), and my mic seems to work fine too.
However, when starting skype (v2.1.0.81 which defaults to pulseaudio if it's running), it isn't able to output any sound and I never see a connection appear in Sound Preferences. Don't really want to force it to use Alsa or anything like that; I'd be fine with pulse if it would just work.
I've tried installing the .deb from the skype site as well as the official ubuntu package, with the same result. Any idea why pulse seems to be working, but skype can't seem to use it properly?
I have an Acer Aspire One netbook and have tried to enable my microphone without any luck. Surprisingly the Sound Recorder works perfectly but skype and ekiga are not able to transfer my voice. I have tried playing around with gnome ALSA mixer and PulseAudio Volume Control but nothin changes.

I use Ubuntu 10.04
Skype 2.1.0.81
I had difficulty getting my internal microphone -
p { margin-bottom: 0.08in; } card 0: SB [HDA ATI SB], device 0: ALC272 Analog [ALC272 Analog]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
I was able to get it to work in the Sound Recorder Application and in the System Testing function, but when I do the Skype Test Call, or call someone with Skype, while I can hear the other person perfectly well, my microphone does not appear to work at all, so it is a strictly one way conversation.
I've made sure with the ALSA Mixer that everything is turned on, and all my sound settings are fine, but microphone won't work in Skype.
Well, I enjoy the show Stargate SG-1, and I was wondering if there was any way I could get my voice to sound like that of a Goa'uld or Tok'ra while I am talking on Skype.
