I have a Xenta micro wifi keyboard which worked fine with 10.04 but after upgading to 10.10 it pairs Ok it does not work. In 10.04 all I had to do was enter the pin on the wifi keyboard.In 10.10 the pin has to be entered on the wifi and local keyboards.

View 2 Replies View Relatednow using a micro innovations kb400i turbo-trak keyboard and I can't even access the bios before bootup (f2). It's a standard ps/2 plug and it's gotta a qwerty setup (small backspace with big enter key). So basically the fkeys don't work and the 6 key doesn't work (it does on number lock pad). There are some others that don't work as well. I can't use left ctl to copy and paste which I always use however right ctl works. I'm running absolute linux 13.1.0 fully updated and the keyboard layout was set to u.s.a. and basic by default. I've changed it now to be usa and dvorak but I still gotta reboot. So far I don't know if it's a faulty keyboard or maybe this ones just quirky to setup. According to various websites it's a qwerty keyboard and dvorak is the next closes thing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my 9.10 x64 Server to 10.04 using the standard Update Manager (I have the GNOME desktop installed). The installation went very smoothly, no errors or problems that I noticed. However, after reboot I get the main log in screen, but I can't enter my password because the keyboard seems to be ignored. The mouse is fine, no problems there. I looked at the various keyboard possibilities, and it has choosen the basic "USA" keyboard. It doesn't matter which keyboard type I choose though, it still fails to respond to any keyboard keypress. To be clear, there were no issues with the keyboard before the upgrade. I don't know where to start.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have checked the forums but can't find a topic that covers this. I have an 8Gb Micro SDHC in a micro reader that I installed 10.10 onto from the Alternate DVD. Unfortunately I neglected to set up the swap and home volumes and I now have a stick with all 8GB used up.
I have configured up Ubuntu to my liking and also added some applications. I would prefer not to lose this and I don't appear to be able to adjust the partition table live to now accommodate the swap and home areas.
Is there a way to do it live or can I boot from the DVD again and adjust the one partition to three such as 4 GB root, 2G Swap and 2 Gb Home?
I am trying to read my SD car trough the external car reader but it does not work.A bit of maybe relevant info:it a SD adaptor with a micro SD memory of 1 G.It came from a nokia phone.what I know its working:the micro SD card is working came out my mobile phone the reader is working I have tested with other SD card
the only left is the adaptor but very unlikely.Could some one help to with the command from the terminal to find the SD car drive name, mount it, and formatted?
I just upgraded to 10.04 from 9.04 and I cannot log in to the machine. I tried launching the on-screen keyboard but it just flashes and disappears. Anyone else having this issue?I also tried attaching a different USB keyboard, but that didn't work either.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to 10.4 from 9.8, my keyboard wouldn't work on the startup menu, I then went to the console and it worked perfectly. I'm new to Linux so don't know a lot about it. I also tried to reinstall it using:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh -a
But it always stops and return "This page is not dpkg-info anymore, but GNU install info

View 3 Replies View RelatedI tried to use the automatic upgrade to version 10 last night on my Acer Aspire 8930G. Everything seemed to work fine until I got to the reboot. At the reboot it tells me that it is running in low resolution mode because the nvidia drivers have been removed. That is fine except I cannot hit the enter button to accept the message either using the laptop keyboard or by restarting and using a USB keyboard.
I have a dual boot with windows and I'm averse to just reinstalling ubuntu because there is some data which would be annoying to lose.
I am using 10.10, yesterday I did an upgrade using update manager. After restart, booting stops at login screen, keyboard and mouse is not working. I tried login into recovery mode as well as previous kernel versions nothing is working. I tried to login into single user mode even that is also not working.

Obviously this is very irritating, I can only type those letters by holding down alt. I can't think of how this happened, it didn't do it before the upgrade. previosuly installed products that mapped keys, but I dont have and have never had any of them. reset the keyboard to default settings, which I happily did to no avail.
So for me, since I upgraded, keyboard input (either local or via VNC, so it isnt hardware) does nothing for either the caps lock key or the shift key. Kinda makes it imnpossible to eneter @ or any uppercase character, for example !

During the installation BUG USB (blue screen) error comes and laptop restarted. Now i restarted the laptop and from now my mouse and the keyboard not working. I recently tried to upgrade my Dell Latitude C610 from 10.10 to 11.04, but it got kernel panic right in the middle. Now it at least boots, but the mouse doesn't work--only the keyboard does. How do I fix this enough to use the mouse, or how do I operate Gnome with a keyboard?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI decided to wing it and upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10 once I developed odd wireless issues (grrr) where I could only get on wireless if I booted up Ubuntu with my wifi switch DISABLED and then right away enabled it once I was logged in. The funny part is, it distinctly said 10.10 available in update manager. I get it done, power up, System - About Ubuntu - 11.04.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my laptop from Debian Wheezy to Jessie the other day, and just as before my wifi auto-connects to my router, and I can "ping http://www.google.com" just fine, but only for like a minute. Then the Internet access dies, but I'm still connected fine to my router, and I can ping its IP address. If I connect to the router through cable / eth0 everything works just fine, and I have full Internet access.
I assume there is something wonky with how ip address is assigned after the upgrade, how can I fix this, or trouble shoot further?
(I run Gnome desktop, with network manager).
Just before Lucid was released, I installed karmic on a vanilla VM in 64-bit mode, and all was good. Did a desktop setup and afterwards installed Eclipse, and I was happy: A new system for coding on-the-go! Now, after upgrading to Lucid with do-release-upgrade -d, I can no longer enter my password on X login. The keyboard just doesn't work for some reason. When I enable the onscreen keyboard, and click my password, I can login. The strange thing is that my keyboard works like a charm after I've logged into my X session?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI had a hell of a time getting 10.04 to work, because I only have a Logitech Dinovo Edge keyboard, and it stopped working after I upgraded. After grub, I'd get to the login screen, and the keyboard wouldn't do anything.
First, I dug up a mouse that did work. Then I logged in by clicking the Human Accessibility icon on the login screen. Somewhere in there, I was able to bring up an on screen keyboard. With the on screen keyboard, I could now login. Under system>preferences>bluetooth, I was able to, after some fiddling and plugging and unplugging, get the keyboard paired to the bluetooth dongle. Anyway, it seems pretty obvious now that my original bluetooth pairing was lost with the 10.04 upgrade, and I just needed to re-pair. I don't remember having such problems on previous upgrades, though.
Running Landmarq Intel Atom DC330 Desktop I have just attempted to upgrade my desktop machine from Kubuntu 10.04 to Kubuntu 10.10. I used KpackageKit to do the upgrade which proceeded smoothly until the install packages phase, which seemed to complete and then repeat. I don't know the detail of what happened as I was out of the room.
The repeat almost completed, but then I got a set of error messages, which basically told me that KpackageKit was unable to install the upgraded packages. I closed KpackageKit, and closed the machine and tried a reboot. This time, I got as far as the splash screen, but although the cursor flashes, I can't type anything in the password box. In addition, the mouse pointer won't move. Using a different wireless mouse works, but I still can't type in a password.
However, the command ctrl+alt+sysrq+RSEIUB works, so the machine is accepting some keyboard input. I also know from using a live disc that my home directory is intact. I would like to revert to my 10.04 installation, and re-try an upgrade to 10.11 afterwards.
two days ago I updated my Fedora 11 to Fedora 12 which seemed to run fine at first ... until it rebooted after the update process. I was presented with the following error:

Approximately 5 seconds afterwards it tells me, that the root device was not found. My root volume is a LVM inside a LUKS container, so I guess the keyboard error from above implies that it can't query me for my passwort and therefore open the volume.
On install my wifi was working, but when I rebooted it stopped working.Since then I've tried numerous things to attempt recovery of wifi. No luck so far.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have lost wifi access with the upgrade to 11.4.Previously, the receiver icon showed on left click a menu of available networks, and on right click, available network by network settings for editing. The menu also included enable wireless connection and enable wired connection. I have wireless enabled.
But with the upgrade, the same menu appears on left click or right click, and they both show a greyed out "wireless disconnected" tab, so you can't connect from there, the tab is disabled. There's also no place else to go to find available networks or to lock into one. There also does not seem to be a place to find wired networks either.I installed my wifi network in it, and put in the correct password and set it to come on automatically, and 3x restarts did not yield any changes. Apparently network finding is disabled in this version or at least my copy.It isn't the computer: I'm on line with it now on the Windows XP side.
This is doubly problematic because if I can't get on line, I can't download a fix, and even if I could by downloading it to the Windows side, it is probably a binary with some very scripts and meticulous BASH coding or tarballing something else that I have no idea how to do even with a walk through by an expert because most of the time the experts assume I know as much about using a Linux terminal and code as they do, and I basically know absolutely nothing, it is all Greek to me from the point at which they say "open a terminal." "Go to root" might as well be said in Chinese as far as its usefulness to me. What is the plan here? A complete redo from the get go?
