Ubuntu Installation :: Server Startup Failed: Error During Bootstrapping?

I realize this probably isn't the best place to be posting this as it relates to project open, but they don't have a forum.
We recently upgraded our Ubuntu server and now when trying to use project open we get the follow error message, does anyone know why this may be, or have any guesses as to why this may be.
Server startup failed: Error during bootstrapping

I tried to install php from source file on centos server and i got the error as # ./configure --with-apxs2=/usr/local/packages/apache/bin/apxs --with-mysql --prefix=/usr/local/packages/apache/php --enable-force-cgi-redirect --disable-cgi --with-zlib --with-gettext --with-gdbm

I upgraded my Karmic OS to Lucid the day after it became available and have been having some troubles - I am having trouble starting the OS. Brief history: I have real troubles with the ATI graphics and spent a while trying (finally successfully) to remove fglrx and associated dependencies. I then rebooted ready to install new drivers. I now get the following error on startup:
CIFS VFS Error connecting to socket - aborting connection
CIFS VFS cifs_mount failed w/return code (-101)
For the last couple of weeks or so, I have noticed CFS errors on shutdown which has meant that I have needed to physically press the off button to turn the machine off, but since I could still operate I left that problem on the back burner "for when I have more time". Don't know if the two problems are related. Anyway, I am currently in the situation where I cannot start Ubuntu at all unless I use the install CD and try the LIVE distro.
My fstab file looks like this:
aufs / aufs rw 0 0
tmpfs /tmp tmpfs nosuid,nodev 0 0
/dev/sda6 swap swap defaults 0 0
(My PC Has a 1 TB drive and a 500 gig drive. The 1 TB drive has dual boot Vista (came preinstalled and I have a couple of games for it - else, yuk) and Linux. The 500 gig drive is a data drive). I'd rather not reinstall from scratch though may have to? I don't know of any way to repair-install the OS - maybe that would be possible too?

I'm not very sure when this issue started. Anyway, the system finally boots and I haven't had any further problems, but I somehow notice the booting to be a bit slower since this error appeared and I don't like watching the red letters that say "failed" every time I switch the computer on. I googled this before posting it, and other users have had this issue, but the solutions that worked for them didn't work for me.
This is the content of my /etc/network/interfaces file:

I am a newbie trying to install XMLSec on my server. I have CentOS 5 with OpenSSL 0.9.8b. I downloaded xmlsec1-1.0.3-1.i386.rpm from [URL]. While doing rpm -Uvh xmlsec1-1.0.3-1.i386.rpm I get the following error message.
error: Failed dependencies:
libcrypto.so.4 is needed by xmlsec1-1.0.3-1.i386
libxml2.so.2 is needed by xmlsec1-1.0.3-1.i386
libxslt.so.1 is needed by xmlsec1-1.0.3-1.i386

I am trying to install fedora10 on my desktop with 320gb HDD, Intel Dualcore, Biostar mother board, 1 GB RAM. I installed fedora many times, now my PC is connected to a SAMSUNG B2030 monitor which is of size 20.5 inches. This time, Anaconda is falling back to text mode as it cannot recognize the VGA. Monitor CD is along with me but it didnot contain any linux drivers. (Drivers for xp are installed). What is the solution? Should I switch to the latest fedora13?

I am currently trying to upgrade over 100 rpms on multiple Red Hat servers. Whenever I try to do a rpm -u /packages/*.rpm i recieve a failed dependencies error on the very first rpm. I know that I can go though each rpm one by one and trace each dependency but that will take forever. Is there a way to skip these errors? I know the -nodeps command for rpm but I dont want to screw something up but running all of these rpms on -nodeps

I have a netbook with a 150GB hard drive in it. A while ago I dropped my netbook and it wouldn't boot. Had a "failed command: READ FPDMA QUEUED" error at startup. So naturally I went and reinstalled. Reinstalling worked fine and I had my computer back. What I didn't account for was the fact that anytime it lost power and didn't shut down properly, I'd get the same error. I can't seem to recover my data either. Can't get any live disks to mount the hard drive after this error but for some reason I can still reinstall Crunchbang (essentially debian). Now I know there are bad sectors or something because when I try to use the disk that came with the netbook with an image of Windows XP that writes to the entire hard drive it throws an error but linux will avoid this I suppose when installing.
Now all of this is to say, being a laptop, several times I have left it on overnight when I fall asleep working or have to run into to town and it'll die and then I lose all my data, rather irritating. What's causing this error? What can I do to prevent it besides getting a new hard drive? If I can't prevent it from happening in the future is there a way to recover the data off the hard drive? I have an older PC that was running F11 without any problems. At some point I started updating to F12 through the web and got a a nice black screen that pretty much hosed my OS. (Not a big deal).So I went and downloaded the F12 Live CD which did the same thing.., at some point just after install the screen would be black and reset is the only option.Got the full F12 32-bit DVD and during the installation I get: "X Startup Failed,Falling back to text mode."Finishing the install I get to a nice black log-in prompt so I can log-in as root.From there I cant do much as I am a n00d in Linux to some extent and my network doesn't work
My video card is a Geforce FX 5200 which installed and worked just fine under F11 (without me doing anything but basic install and Ubuntu 9.10)

When my Fedora server boots it fails starting the MySQL server also if i try to start it from a prompt it says "fail" but the funny thing is that it works. Now i could just say "what the hell it works" but i hate seeing the red error on boot. Fedora boot, fail starting MySQL MySQL server works after boot anyway manual start it fails, but also here it works anyway

I just downloaded Ubuntu installer for windows (wubi). After downloading and installing it as dualboot operating system. I went on configuring it. for my bad luck my laptop died due to low battery (I found it the cause, but may be some system error, well I don't think so) when the system was updating itself. Now I can boot to my old Windows 7 successfully, Ubuntu recover mode also. but when I try to boot with normal Ubuntu, it comes to welcome screen but never takes me to login page. I don't know what went wrong and how can I repair it. But I am really eager to sort it out and enjoy the Ubuntu.

I am trying to install 10.04 32bit onto a new 1.5TB harddrive. I had previously installed 10.04 64bit on an old drive in the same nmachine. I partitioned and formatted the new drive using the old system. I have a couple of windows partitions and restored Win2K images to them, 4 formated Ext3 partions for whever flavour of Linux appeals to me a swap and two huge NTFS Data (home) and work areas. I installed Grub on the new drive, it also has its own partition for boot config files. The old drive has now gone.
Grub2 boots OK and gives me option for all the OS's even the one that are gone, thats OK I can fix that later with grub-update. Win2K boots fine and I see my NTFS partitions.
Now I boot from the Live i386 CD and chosse to install Ubuntu. The only thing that not allowed to default is where to install. Specify partition manually, Choose a spare 20GB Ext3 and the swap is already there too. I let it reformat to Ext3 and mount as /. (In Advanced I let the install boot loader default to ticked on /dev/sda )
The install goes OK until I hit the pop-up "Installation Failed". The installed encountered an unrecoverable error. A desktop session will be run etc etc..
I have tried this at least 10 times no. I downloaded and cut a new CD even though the old one worked fine on another box. Tried unticking the boot loader. Disable the floppy, removed the floppy.
I am relatively new to Ubuntu. Where do I look for the cause of the problem? I'll cut and paste the install log files in a moment.

I have 9.10 installed and working like a charm, due to the problems I had last time, I decided to leave an empty space to try and test upcoming editions, but I can't install it!
I get two error messages and can't get past the point of partition assignment.

I get this error ALL THE TIME after a reboot if I try to print. Going to the printing applet to add the printer does no good because Lucid is not connected to the CUPS server. I found that the work-around below fixes the issue for the current session.

I have SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 running on HP Mini 2133. It's been working like a dream since I got it, but one day I got the following error message when booting it: Failed to start the X server (your graphical interface). It is likely that it is not set up correctly. Would you like to view the X server output to diagnose problem? <Yes> <No>.
X server output says alot of things, but I think this is the most important:
