Right so i downloaded a program built with anjuta.I change directory,i configure it but i always get an error and cant do anything.I also cant install my projects on anjuta(build->install project)
View 3 Repliesafter the netinst finished to download the last package, one hour later the process never continues, I checked the log file and I didn't find anything suspecious, also dmesg and nothing, in fact, in the log file before checked I found that the last line was registered just a minute ago - DHCP renew IP-, so my questions are:
1. all the packages downloaded are gone?, can I restart the installation using all those packages downloaded?
2. where I can find the error or problem that cause that the installation was freezed?
3. in the case that installation needs to start from the beginning, can I use the package downloaded?

I want to install it with wubi because in this case their less chance of data loss and easier to use. When i put all the downloaded files(inside downloaded iso) and run wubi(that came with iso)int the same folder it tries to download set up from internet. this is the error. why it is not working with files in that folder.OK I try to install this this from xubuntu bootable USB using wubi it runs better install it runs for a minute(installs files) but at the end of installation same error occur says can't connect to internet. Did you know any way to install xubuntu using wubi using downloaded ISO.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust installed Ubuntu 11.04 32-bit on an older Dell D610 laptop. Everything was running a little slow but all in all running fine except one thing - I downloaded the Chrome deb file and also the deb file from Moneydance. When I double-click on either of these deb files, it opens up the Ubuntu Software Center and shows an 'Install' button for the app. I click Install and then enter my root password, then nothing happens. A short while later the Install button turns from grayed out to clickable again. So I click it again, and it says that the deb file is not packaged correctly.
I've tried it with multiple deb files now and get the same thing. Installing directly through the Ubuntu Software Center works fine, but unortunately Chrome and Moneydance aren't in there (I prefer Chrome to Chromium). What could be causing this?
Also - due to the slowness of the Ubuntu install I did a clean install to Xubuntu and I like that much better and it is running perfectly except for this issue of not being able to install any 3rd-party downloaded apps.
I downloaded Adobe Reader and have looked online to learn how to install it...

I got used to it for about a year, but for the most part I used the Ubuntu Software Center and Synaptic Package Manager to install software and learned to manage okay. One program is giving problems. It is a program called Sharescope and I pay a subscription for it and it runs in my Windows partition. I downloaded Wine and then downloaded Sharescope three times but when I click to install it comes up with the following message;

I contacted Sharescope and they said it was a permission issue in Ubuntu. Is there any way to install this program or will I have to work with it in Windows?
I just switched to a faster isp with monthly usage limits. When I install a program using Synaptic, where are the install files stored? I'd like to save them for future use. Also, I'm downloading Conky right now to monitor usage.
View 8 Replies View Relatedi have just installed Ubuntu on my new pc. i used the wubi installer in win7 i rebooted to Ubuntu and continued the install. however at the moment i have very low bandwidth and decided to skip a few steps in the install i only did it because i would have to wait over 8 Hrs for it to complete. APT is not fully configured and no updates were downloaded. once my bandwidth is restored how do i reconfigure APT and fix any broken packages/missing stuff from the initial install?

I dont know what the problem is ive downloaded 2 different images of ubuntu 10.10 and one for 10.04. Ive also tried the Wubi.exe download as well. everytime i try and install inside windows it gives me the error right at the end tells me that permission is denied and to check the logs. I know that im not the only one that is having this problem. I have tried to reburn the image at a slower speed only thing that i havent tried is installing using a thumb drive.

View 11 Replies View RelatedSo, my experience with the upgrade. Going from 9.10 64-bit to 10.4 64-bit. Tried to be a decent, sharing sort and downloaded the LiveCD for 64-bit from torrent. No problem. Didnt have any blank CDs handy, but I had a 1GB USB thumb drive that I have used to install other distros that I wanted to test, so used unetbootin to make my installation on. No problem.
LiveCD tried to run, but hung with a black screen; no blinking cursor, nothing. Problem. Restart, go back to my functioning system, and re-create the LiveCD on the thumb drive using USB Startup Disc Creator. No problem. Reboot. Monitor went into standby and never came out. Problem. Decided to give up on the LiveCD. Downloaded the alternate-install CD for 64-bit and put it on the thumb drive. No problem.
Installation went fine. No major hang-ups at this point. Had the grub_puts problem, even though I specified the correct place, and so had to reinstall grub, which fixed that.
Although it is still early in the process for me, my main (relatively minor) gripe is the same one I always have: Although Linux seems to be able to tell a lot about the hardware (through what I assume is either asking the hardware about it capabilities or getting info from the BIOS, perhaps), why can it not tell that my keyboard numlock key is supposed to be ON? My BIOS is set to turn it on at boot. My username and password both have numbers in them, and it is convenient for me to have the numlock on at boot and remain on.
I fully realize that there are many users of notebooks/netbooks that having this setting ON for default is a problem. I dont want it ON as default. I want a simple way to change the setting. Ive seen complaints and questions about this since at least Edgy (there may be older postings, but I havent needed to research back). System>Preferences>Keyboard can let me do so many things with my keyboard - except this, apparently.
I use a Karmic Koala and I want to upgrade to Lucid Lynx. All the packages are up to date. So if I upgrade online, how much data download am I looking at? I have a sufficiently fast connection, but I have a limit on the data that I can download. Is it less than downloading a Lucid Lynx CD? Can I get an exact figure somehow?
