Fedora Installation :: Downloaded The All Neded Dependencies And .rpm Files, But Cant Install Them?
Mar 8, 2011
A game I found recently through an web repository. Downloaded the all neded dependencies and .rpm files, but cant install them.. terminal output below:'
Installing from a CD, and F13 constantly freezes at the same spot - "Checking dependencies in packages selected for installation" - gets stuck 1/3 to 1/2 thru.
I am trying to install fc11 on an intel mb with pentium4 and ati graphics the install always hangs at the point where the sw packages have been selected and the install is checking dependencies.
I have tried the regular install the basic video install, and text install with the same symptoms each time
the dvd drive lite is on and the hard disk activity lite is on and the system is frozen. have to power off.
I have fc11 installed on another system (amd) and had install issues also but that was with the preview.
Just installed Ubuntu 11.04 32-bit on an older Dell D610 laptop. Everything was running a little slow but all in all running fine except one thing - I downloaded the Chrome deb file and also the deb file from Moneydance. When I double-click on either of these deb files, it opens up the Ubuntu Software Center and shows an 'Install' button for the app. I click Install and then enter my root password, then nothing happens. A short while later the Install button turns from grayed out to clickable again. So I click it again, and it says that the deb file is not packaged correctly.
I've tried it with multiple deb files now and get the same thing. Installing directly through the Ubuntu Software Center works fine, but unortunately Chrome and Moneydance aren't in there (I prefer Chrome to Chromium). What could be causing this?
Also - due to the slowness of the Ubuntu install I did a clean install to Xubuntu and I like that much better and it is running perfectly except for this issue of not being able to install any 3rd-party downloaded apps.
I just switched to a faster isp with monthly usage limits. When I install a program using Synaptic, where are the install files stored? I'd like to save them for future use. Also, I'm downloading Conky right now to monitor usage.
"You'll probably want to operate from inside your home directory. If your user is (for example) username, your home directory will be /home/username/. For the rest of this section we will assume you have downloaded your zip file to /home/username/src. If you do not have a src directory, you can create it with the following "mkdir" (make directory) command:"
Where do the commands go? I cant make it work in terminal. How do I get back to "home" from where i am now? example /home/mydesktop/. I am working in mydesktop. I have downloaded some packages that pkcon search will not find, but when I try to install them using "synaptic" it cant find the packages i dl. So I found this tutorial.
"So, we have our source package in /home/username/src/. Change to the /home/username/src/ directory with the "cd" (change directory) command like so: cd /home/username/src/ but I dont know where to write the commands.
I am facing a disgusting problem. While I am trying to update my system using update manager It downloaded the files and then while it starts installation it shows the following message
Code: (Reading database ... 60%dpkg: unrecoverable fatal error, aborting: files list file for package 'linux-libc-dev' is missing final newline
I've downloaded 4 versions of Ubuntu and Kubuntu but I've had no success in making a CD. Downloading them at the same time should not have been the problem as I've done it before. This was done after a fresh install of 9.04 Jaunty I had a problem with previous installs I have of an upgraded lucid 10.04 Could several partitions cause a file corruption, I know I had a file problem with Ubuntu one across several partitions.
Is there a stand-alone SWF viewer I can use to view downloaded SWF files on Fedora please? I know there's a browser plugin, but it does not have any controls to pause or rewind the file - it just plays the SWF file from start to end. I've tried using Mplayer, but it does not appear to support playing SWF files.
I have a download cap therefore when I install Debian, I like to have a backup of all downloaded .deb files that I can install from rather than download all over again. From what I've read, it should be a simple case of copying the .deb files to /var/cache/apt/archives and then install using apt-get. But apt-get seems to 'ignore' them. Am I supposed to do something to get apt to use them? Bearing in mind, I need to do this from a console as there will be no DE.
I just upgraded from F12 to F13 and the result is a mess. From F11 to F12, I*used preupgrade and it worked flawlessly. This time, the process ended on a blank screen. So, I downloaded the DVD and I suppose the files downloaded by preupgarde were used as there were almost no connections to the net during the upgrade process. The problem now is that apparently almost all the FC12 files are still on my system:
Of course, as I said, the previous upgrade went flawlessly and I didn't check what happened on the system with the rpm and locate commands but I doubt is looked that bad. Seeing what kind of mess my system was turned into, I now worry about the next upgrade.
after the netinst finished to download the last package, one hour later the process never continues, I checked the log file and I didn't find anything suspecious, also dmesg and nothing, in fact, in the log file before checked I found that the last line was registered just a minute ago - DHCP renew IP-, so my questions are:
1. all the packages downloaded are gone?, can I restart the installation using all those packages downloaded?
2. where I can find the error or problem that cause that the installation was freezed?
3. in the case that installation needs to start from the beginning, can I use the package downloaded?
Right so i downloaded a program built with anjuta.I change directory,i configure it but i always get an error and cant do anything.I also cant install my projects on anjuta(build->install project)
I was able to do this before but, I can't remember where I found the link.I think is was a script or something. It would get all the files that the .Deb will need and make an installer.
P.S. I have Ubuntu 64-bit the PC that need the install is a 32-bit both are 10.04.
I'm running Kubuntu 10.10 and am trying to change my bootscreen so I installed StartUp-Manager and then I tried to install usplash, but I get this error which makes me slightly confused:
sudo apt-get install usplash Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done
[code]....
Previously apt-get has been happy to install dependencies. I'm new to Linux so if you need any more information just shout and I'll edit that in.
When I visit packages.ubuntu site, I see dapper, maverick etc. What are these? Also I need to install complete gcc, g++ and dependencies. How to do it?
It's a newbie question that has probably already been answered hundreds of times, but Google didn't help me. How can I install an application I've downloaded from the internet?I know I can easily install software with the terminal (apt-get, yum etc.) and that there is also a package manager. But still I'd like to know how to install an application I've downloaded with the browser. I've downloaded Thunderbird from this link URL...and after unpacking, I have a folder called 'thunderbird'. Now, what do I have to do to install the application?
I'm not actually concerned with installing Thunderbird anymore because when I typed 'thunderbird' in the terminal, it told me that it isn't installed and if it should be installed. I replied 'y' and some minutes later (slow internet connection...) it was installed and ready to use..
When I run the rpm package to install mediainfo software I get this warning: mediainfo-gui-0.7.33-1.i386.Fedora_12.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID dfb2ef23
error: Failed dependencies: libmediainfo.so.0 is needed by mediainfo-gui-0.7.33-4.1.i386 libmediainfo0 >= 0.7.33 is needed by mediainfo-gui-0.7.33-4.1.i386 libzen.so.0 is needed by mediainfo-gui-0.7.33-4.1.i386 libzen0 >= 0.4.14 is needed by mediainfo-gui-0.7.33-4.1.i386
and I have no idea of how to go on..it asks for elevated prompt but is not able to retrieve dependencies by itself..
I'd like to update /etc/apt/sources.list with all the packages available on packages.debian.org and packages.ubuntu.com without apt-get, aptitude, and synaptic then trashing my system by trying to update all the obsolete packages. (I'm stuck with 8.04) I only want to update the packages / install new ones with their dependencies as I request them. How do I do that?
I have Ktorrent installed via the repositories and its always worked perfectly. Today I ran software update with KPackageKit and it installed updates. It told me that KTorrent had to be removed to continue and without thinking I hit ok. Now my KTorrent is gone. When I try to install it on the terminal with
Code:
sudo apt-get install ktorrent
it gives me this error.
Code:
$ sudo apt-get install ktorrent Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done
[code]...
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
ktorrent : Depends: ktorrent-data (= 4.0.3-0ubuntu1) but 4.0.5-3ubuntu1~maverick1~ppa1 is to be installed
E: Broken packages If I remove and reinstall ktorrent-data it doesn't help. build-dep doesn't help. autoremove and then trying to reinstall doesn't help. I'm not running some strange dev version of anything. I have a standard Kubuntu 10.10 amd64 installation and my KDE version is 4.6.2 from the regular repositories. I run updates (standard repositories) almost every day and have never seen anything like this before.
I am very new to linux. I just got the dual boot working a couple of days ago. Now I downloaded MATLAB (2009b) from my university website. It came in a zip file...well I have no clue how to install it. I looked at the instruction manual, it doesn't really explain much.
I have downloaded the live media for Fedora 14 to an 11gb partition of my hard drive. After that I cannot figure out how to install it. I have previously had ubuntu linux earlier this year, but had a bad experience when I downloaded a boot loader for it.
i`m pretty new in Fedora 13 and linux as well. I installed a Fedora 13 xfce on an elder e series livebook. Then I tried to install the rpm packages for vlc from ATrpms - by Distribution > Fedora 13 vlc-1.0.6-53.fc13.i686.rpm
Quote: could not do simulate: vlc-1.0.6-53.fc13.i686 requires libdca.so.0 vlc-1.0.6-53.fc13.i686 requires libavutil.so.50(LIBAVUTIL_50) vlc-1.0.6-53.fc13.i686 requires libx264.so.92 vlc-1.0.6-53.fc13.i686 requires libfaad.so.2 vlc-1.0.6-53.fc13.i686 requires libavcodec.so.52
I've recently got this error coming up when I try to install things via yum through the terminal. It happens when I try to install *anything* at all. I'm running 32bit Fedora 14, although my laptop is 64 bit.
I think the error may have occurred a while back when trying to upgrade to fedora 15 running 64 bit, although I'm not sure exactly what I did then
Quote:
I have tried running "rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest" and I just get this error again.
i want to install package say PHP5 i have all the dependencies packages of php5 in a folder.or say i have all the packages in a folder and i want to install using dpkg
but when i try to install the main package it say these dependencies are missing.there are more than 40-50 packages so its not possible to install manully first one package and then another.eg:
Code: bhupinder packages # dpkg -i apache2_2.2.17-1ubuntu1_i386.deb (Reading database ... 140101 files and directories currently installed.) Preparing to replace apache2 2.2.17-1ubuntu1 (using apache2_2.2.17-1ubuntu1_i386.deb) ... Unpacking replacement apache2 ...
[Code]...
now i have to install rest of the package manually ...is there any solution so that i can install it with single command...???
Administering offline Linux boxes can be a serious pain. The Debian flavours now have keryx to make life easier. Keryx is a cross-platform application, which means one can get the dependencies from Windoze too. Is there any similar package for rpm/fedora based flavours? In the absense of a proper Offline manager, I was also wondering if there is a way to collect the output of:
Code:
yum deplist <package>
... condense or sieve out the double listings, and pipe that to a text file? One can copy the output and run
Code:
yum reinstall <paste them here> --downloadonly
and get all the required dependencies from the yum cache. If all that can be accommodated in one script... then that's pretty cool. I don't have the scripting know-how to dive into this.
I'm running Fedora 11: kernel Linux 2.6.30.9-96.fc11.i586 Gnome: 2.26.3
Trying to install orkaudio using the instructions here: [URL] When I get to rpm -i ACE-5.4.8-1.i386.rpm I get: error: Failed dependencies: libcrypto.so.4 is needed by ACE-5.4.8-1.i386 libssl.so.4 is needed by ACE-5.4.8-1.i386
I've also tried system/administration/add/remove software but no joy. if I do # yum install openssl I get: Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit Setting up Install Process Package openssl-0.9.8k-5.fc11.i686 already installed and latest version Nothing to do
