I have 3 email accounts all of which I cant remember the specifics for setting up the email accounts.I do however have the .iaf files which under windows I can simply double click to import them into the windows email programs.Is there any way to import these in to evolution or a program I can use to convert them in to something evolution will recognise?

All my email accounts are internet based. I have quite a few:
2 Gmail accounts - my main one and a more formal one for job searches and resume stuff.
1 Yahoo account for everything else so most spam will go there.
1 University account that I have to use while taking a masters degree program
1 AOL account - a holdout from a long time ago that I hardly ever check.
What would be my reason for using a computer based email system like Evolution or Thunderbird? Could I combine all this accounts to one place? Would I want to? I don't have a job right now so I don't have a work email. I thought it would me nice if I could somehow go to one place to see all these email accounts. I will check it out on my own but I thought I would ask the forum for some wisdom.
I'm using Evolution with 11 different Email accounts. They all show up with their respective folders in the left sidebar. How can I change their order? Now, so it seems, the account I entered first is on top. I want the more important accounts to be the furtest up and move some others down. I'm sure there has to be a file where this is stored, no?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just installed/upgraded OpenSUSE 11.3 and setup Evolution Email with 3 Email Accounts. Just for a while I could see all 3 accounts listed on the left column.Suddenly after reading some emails I just noticed that one Email Account (Comcast) had disappeared from the listing. I went to Edit-->Preferences and all 3 accounts are there and all 3 have check marks. I have done a lot of things trying to fix this issue, even uninstall/reinstall Evolution Mail, but nothing of what I have done has been able to make this Email account to be listed again.

I've just installed 11.2 and the video problems are no more so I want to try and stick with it but..... unless I can get my emails across from Windows Mail I'll have to give up. Is there a client that will sensibly import my emails without too much fuss? I've got thousands of mails that I want to move across and they're split into around 50 folders.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have couple of users in one machine. I can access the /etc/passwd,/etc/shadow and /etc/group files in this box. I have another box. I want to create some user accounts in the second box by just looking in the passwd, shadow and group files in the first box. I would just copy over the corresponding lines into the corresponding for whichever accounts I want to create as new and also change the lines for which I want to update the account information. Is this possible and will also the passwords work fine? Please also let me know there is any good tool for automatically doing this kind of stuff. Both the boxes that I have are Ubuntu machines though one is running Ubuntu 8.04 and the other is 10.04.

I have been looking for a replacement for ACT (I recently migrated from XP) and this looks like it might fit the bill. Is it possible to import all of my emails, contacts, folders etc from TB into Evolution. I would like to try it out and see if it works for me. I am in sales and need a program to keep track of leads.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have tried to import my calendar from an Outlook 2010 .pst file twice and have had the same error both times. Appointments import successfully, but the start time (and end time) is advanced by 8 hours. For example, an appointment in Outlook with the correct start time of 12:30pm appears in Evolution with a start time of 8:30pm. I have confirmed that my system time and time zone are identical and correct in WinXP/Outlook and Ubuntu/Evolution.

But, I need to import my nested, hierarchical mail folders (over 200) from Thunderbird on XP in to Evolution. Is there any speedier and less laborious way than importing single mail folders and then having to re-arrange them all?

On the original cdr backup, there is also Inbox.sbd/ which appears to be an empty directory. I can read this stuff with mutt -f Inbox, but mutt has it's limitations. I would like to be able to get them into thunderbird, or even gmail. What's the trick? When I boot thunderbird, it doesn't really want to know.
I use 'quoted' style for reply emails. I want to be able to intersperse my replies within a quoted reply i.e. if the email had three paragraphs, I'd like to be able to have my replies between each of the paragraphs. At the moment, I don't seem to be able to do anything other than delete from the quoted section - I try to simulate my requirements by cutting and then 'paste quotation', but this doesn't always work as sometimes Evolution adds too many levels of '> ' .
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed Ubuntu 9.04 JJ on several ex-windoze/dual boot machines for my family. All has gone well apart from one niggle with email. We have used Eudora for years and been quite happy with it. Having looked at the Linux offerings I found the Evolution packaged with Ubuntu offered the most similar feature set (correct me if I'm wrong - I have not looked at a huge selection). All is well except for one or two little problems importing Eudora mailboxes -
1) all 'sent' mails seem to lose the date/time information - I have tried the import feature on Evolution and also manually moving the mailboxes. In both cases the messages are fine but no date information is carried over. Received mails are fine in both cases. This makes proper archiving very difficult.
2) mails lose the 'replied/reply' flags. Now the second is no big deal and may be a 'feature' of Eudora not implementing the Berkeley format correctly (or the feature doesn't exist anyway). The first however is a bit of a devil - if it is incorrect format by Eudora then shame on them.
I had configured the evolution to send/recive email. After it had been configured, it could receive emails. Suddendly it can't fetch email anymore. In the inbox of evolution, there were about 200 emails. There are maybe 5K emails in the server, I guessed. I'm not sure whether it's the problem that there's one email in the server too big, so the evolution can not fetch it. The error of evolution is: error while fetching email. Evolution version: Evolution 2.28.0. OS version: Linux xxx2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686.PAE #1 SMP Wed Mar 3 04:57:21 UTC 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux I'm sure my network is fine, I use pop3 to receive email.

importing GAL to evolution:
1. In Xp open MS-Access create blank database.
2. From File->Get External Data->Import, Select file type as exchange()
3. Import contacts to new table, u can delete unwanted columns from this table. Now export this table to a csv file.
4. Following is simple code which takes contacts.csv as input and convert these contacts to vcf file which can be imported to evolution.
5. The contact.csv should be of format

In the past I have always had my ISP and my domain registrar handle the e-mail and just POP the e-mail to a ciient such as thunderbird. Now I have decided in order to better learn postfix or sendmail, I want to setup my own and administer it. My question is:
1 - Once I have my domain name for my company is the e-mail accounts just created via psotfix or sendmail or are the accounts created via my domain registrar like my domain name? For Example: my domain name is test.com and I wanted president@test.com.
2 - Are e-mail servers setup in a DMZ as realys and then forwarded to an internal e-mail server and them transmitted to the clients or are they normally just put inside the LAN?
Is it even remotely possible to create a bash script to login to gmail/yahoo/hotmail, thru different web browsers?

i have a linux box at work that was configed by some that has left the company. we have an email add: e.g test@test.com, if you enter that mail add to a new email it then sends the mail to several email accounts the are on the server.i would like to remove and add new users onto that email address, is there anyone out there that can help?

I install qmail server from source according to document on qmailrocks.org but when i add domain and email account and after press the button create the next window in explorer is blank.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI had to reload from 10.4 to 10.10. On 10.4 I had no problems with the email. Now with 10.10 I cannot get it set up. I use att/yahoo and I set up my pop 3 and stmp setting correct. It will save them but I cannot secure the one with ssh and there is no where in the wizard to store you password. In turn i cannot get my email thru evolution. And the send/recieve button is not highlighted at all. I dumped evolution and then reloaded it but still have the same issue.

I'm trying really hard to use a desktop email client, but it seems that a Web is better
I get a lot of email from different yahoogroups, but am having a bit of trouble in one group.
Every so often I'll get a message that is written in rich text and sent from the group's web post feature, but only half of it is displayed. If I check the message source the entire message is there, and if I change Evolutions settings to plain instead of HTML then the entire message is there.
The weird thing is it only seems to be the messages from one particular poster that is being cut off.
It'd be nice if I could stick with HTML and Evolution.
I just upgraded to Maverick yesterday. When I used to compose a new email I was able to add my email signature to it via a little drop down menu in the compose window. Where has it gone? I can't see any way at all to add my signature to my emails.
