Is there a way to do this so I can set mail notification to alert me when evolution finds a new piece of email from syncing at my sync rate defined in evolution and not have evolution be in my face @ boot, and not have to have evolution open to keep mail notification from freaking out?
I have just installed/upgraded OpenSUSE 11.3 and setup Evolution Email with 3 Email Accounts. Just for a while I could see all 3 accounts listed on the left column.Suddenly after reading some emails I just noticed that one Email Account (Comcast) had disappeared from the listing. I went to Edit-->Preferences and all 3 accounts are there and all 3 have check marks. I have done a lot of things trying to fix this issue, even uninstall/reinstall Evolution Mail, but nothing of what I have done has been able to make this Email account to be listed again.
resolve an issue with Evolution Mail, I normally keep in runningbut when i return in the morning almost every time it has stopped responding. I have to close, or force close, then restart to get it to check for mail and run normally
I have wiped Windows and am running 10.04 exclusively. 32 bit, when setting up evolution e mail account i dont see where to enter password....where is it? anyone have link with screenshots? i know i can use regular hotmail but want to know how to use default ubuntu programs.
I still can't find a spot for password. options are, login, set preferences and a remember password checkbox but nowhere to enter a password
I've been running the Evolution mail system under Fedora-15/KDE for about a month now, and it has some very serious problems. I just noticed that it is available for SUSE, and figured that since KDE is the principal desktop supported by KDE the SUSE version may be fixed. Before I go through the very tedious process of getting the SUSE version to compile on Fedora, I'd like to know whether anyone has seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution:It ignores font control from the KDE Settings->Applications Appearance window, both KDE font control and GTK+ font control, also its own internal font control window.
It has trouble sending messages to an SMTP server, sometimes taking a l-o-n-g time, sometimes timing out. This can be temporarily cured by restarting it It crashes when a filter attempts to refile an outgoing message. It often asks if I want to recover messages that have never been lost. It often locks up receiving mail from a remote POP3 server. I can live with these, except for items 1 and 2, since I have workarounds. If you are fairly sure that you have not seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution
My program for check mail is kMail (version is 1.13.1), sometimes get duplicates mail from all my accounts, which on the gmail, rambler and other mail servers. How I can configure my kMail for remove this duplicates.
I've just upgraded to 11.04 and I created a evolution-backup.tar.gz file as I've done in other upgrades. When I restored the backup and started Evolution, I've lost all the emails in top-level folders (Inbox, Sent, Drafts etc). My own custom folders within these top level folders contain the emails that I backed up. There are quite a few important emails that I've yet to respond to in my Inbox and this is very concerning. Also, I've lost all my Contacts!
i've set up a little mail server ob my private server, using getmail to get the mails from different pop accounts and to send it to maildirs of some virtual users, and i use dovecot as imap server to provide the mails to my clients which are mostly outook 2007. i run getmail as a cronjob which fetches my mails every 2 minutes, anyhow i'd like to run it on demand when a client pushes the send/receive button. is there a way to tell dovecot to run getmail on demand?
Just trying my first live upgrade but hit an issue with not being able to import the GPG key for FC14:
[root@jahama ~]# rpm --import https://fedoraproject.org/static/97A1071F.txt error: https://fedoraproject.org/static/97A1071F.txt: import failed. I downloaded the key to a file and had the same error so I know I haven't mistyped anything. What have I missed and what can I do to resolve it?
Fatal error (6)Aborted (core dumped) This only happen when i'm logged in as root, on the Terminal session. As a regular user, or launching emacs from task bar icon don't happen.
I have used preupgrade to moved from fc14 to fc15. With fc14 I had my two usb 3.0 ports working. However, with fc15 my usb 3.0 ports are disabled. I have read the instruction at the common fc15 bugs doc and removed the kernel parameter xhci.enable=1 and also erased the file /etc/pm/config.d/xhci. Still the usb 3.0 ports are not working. I am using kernel 2.6.38.6-26.rc1.fc15.x86_64. I cannot use the 2.6.38.6-27.fc15.x86_64 since there no nvidia drivers for it.
Trying to do the upgrade through "Software Updates", however because there are no current updates, I cannot click on the "Upgrade" button to begin the upgrade process to FC14.
Is there any other way to do this besides downloading the DVD and installing?
I had a FC13 box which I ran a yum update which obviously does updates to the packages installed. My issue is that its tried to upgrade the kernel to FC14 and that has toasted by install. now when the box boots up I get this on the screen.
[ 1.741672] Kernel Panic - not syncin: VFS: unable to mount foot fs on unknown -block(0,0) [ 1.741715] Pid: 1, comm: swapper Not tainted 2.6.35.12-90.fc.x86_64 #1 [ 1.741754] Call Trace: [ 1.741789] [<ffffffff81468d6f> panic+0x8b/0x10d
there are a few more lines like te last one. I've tried a rescue disk but no good. is my box toasted for good? I've used a live cd and can still the data on the box, is there any way to resue this situation? or is it run live cd backup the data and do fresh install?
After doing an upgrade from FC14 to FC15, I then updated the packages by doing: yum update yum yum clean all yum --releasever=15 --disableplugin=presto distro-sync I then get the following voluminous list of issues (148 pre-existing rpmdb problems). I've done an rpm --rebuilddb but no help.
Running rpm_check_debug ERROR with rpm_check_debug vs depsolve: libclutter-gtk-0.10.so.0()(64bit) is needed by gthumb-2.12.3-2.fc15.x86_64 Please report this error in [URL]

Well, it appears that downloading and installing libclutter-gtk-0.10.so.0 seemed to fix all the subsequent yum error messages, and I was able to install all the packages.
My system with kernel-2.6.35.10-74.fc14.x86_64, NVIDIA 3800 + Samsung 2233 and 3Dvision kit works fine, but upon upgrading to kernel-2.6.35.13-92.fc14.x86_64 the system won't go past the blue->white bar along the screen. The modprobe.d directory has the file blacklisting nouveau and there is the grub entry rdblacklist=nouveau, but do I need to re-run the nvidia installer. If so I think I need to reset the init level to stop X11 trying to load. and will I need to keep doing this everytime I upgrade the kernel if I have nvidia drivers installed?
as a normal user when I click logout from a KDE session nothing happens and I can't re-launch logout again, shutdown is doing the same.I have just upgraded to fc14 from fc13 yesterday tried to delete .kde folder and it has not been succesful tried to create another user and log to kde session and the new user also failed to logout or shutdown Root user is able to logout and shutdown I have no probs on GNOME for root or users.
I just upgraded from FC 13 to FC 14. I run an ssh server on a port in the 3000s (call it 3xxx, to protect the innocent). When I try to start sshd with the "Port 3xxx" option in sshd_conf, I get the following error in /var/log/secure
sshd[5104]: error: Bind to port 3xxx on 0.0.0.0 failed: Permission denied. sshd[5104]: error: Bind to port 3xxx on : : failed: Permission denied.
I did not use to have this problem in FC 13. how I can give sshd the necessary permissions now?
Just upgraded from FC14 to FC15 but YUM is bust, I get the errors of: Could not retrieve mirrorlist... Tried checking the my fedora.repo and fedora-updates.repo and they are all fine and even added in entries into my host file but I still getting the error, am I missing something simple?
I currently have Evolution 2.24.5 on Fedora 10, but I'm not happy with Evolution. I can't update to 2.30.1. So, Is there a better mail program, ie Thunderbird or SeaMonkey?
All my email accounts are internet based. I have quite a few:
2 Gmail accounts - my main one and a more formal one for job searches and resume stuff. 1 Yahoo account for everything else so most spam will go there. 1 University account that I have to use while taking a masters degree program 1 AOL account - a holdout from a long time ago that I hardly ever check.
What would be my reason for using a computer based email system like Evolution or Thunderbird? Could I combine all this accounts to one place? Would I want to? I don't have a job right now so I don't have a work email. I thought it would me nice if I could somehow go to one place to see all these email accounts. I will check it out on my own but I thought I would ask the forum for some wisdom.
I have just upgraded to F11 (from F9) and most things work pretty well. I can't read DVDs or CDs but I see there is another thread open on that, and VMWare-player has a few problems but otherwise I an a reasonably happy camper. The "new mail notification" in Evolution won't play my sound. Other sound apps work OK (mplayer, amarok etc) and I can play the .wav file in question simply by hovering the mouse over it in Nautilus - so I know it's not a general sound problem (and besides - I have followed Silpheed2k's guide here). In the Evolution plugins dialogue the sound file is selected, but the test button doesn't play it and when new mail arrives the other notification methods (pop up message + blinking icon) work just fine. It worked in F9 with the same sound file.
I did install FC 11 without problems. The only thing I don't understand is the following.
Viewing some messages, the character apostrophe'is not displayed.Charset is "iso-8859-1" which is the default in my Evolution as well...
Subject:

Checking the source of the message I can read at some place :
Le Sp=E9cialiste de l=92 Informatique=0A=
what is displayed without apostrophe as =92 is shown as a blank square (not printable character) On the other side I see the following source in same message :
t=E9l=E9charger directement et gratuitement sur le site de l'=E9diteur =0A=
what is displayed with the apostrophe: I don't know why the character apostrophe is sent as =92 This did not happen within FC 10 or the earlier Evolution
I use Evolution mail and use 2 PCs When I send mail it saves it to my current PC but not to the other PC so instead i want it to save the sent to the email server i'm using.
I have set up postfix and dovecot as per the Ubuntu anual and appear to have a functioning mail server.Using the sendmail command I can send mail and I receive mail in ~/Maildir. Using Thunderbird I can read any mails received but I can't send any mail from Thunderbird. I have tried with both STARTTLS and SSL/TLS and whilst I get the prompt for a password I keep getting the message my password for my server is wrong.I have ports 25, 465, 587 and 993. Is that all the right ports? When I ping my domain name it resolves to my router name whereas I believe it should resolve to my IP. Could there be a problem with my host file? I've had a play but to no avail. Here's the error in mail.log.
is it possible to import mail from older evolution client (GNOME evolution 2.28.3) to the evolution now running on fedora 15 ( Evolution 3.0.2)on the older client, there appears to be a .evolution folder off home directory and mail under that. However I dont see this hidden directory on fedora 15.Is there a way to transfer the mails?
After running Pine remotely to view some mail on the server, I can no longer access those emails remotely with Evolution or Outlook Express. I know the mail is still there on the server someplace, because it still appears in Pine's "INBOX" folder. But that is clearly not the same as the "Inbox" folder for that account which appears in Evolution and Outlook Express, which is now empty. How can I configure Evolution to re-access those emails?
