Does anyone know what this program does and how to remove it? I did a complete removal of evolution, and deleted the .evolution folder yet this job still runs. How do I remove it to get a clean install?

As for evolution-alarm-notify, I don't use use evolution (unless I get a pgp encrypted email) which is highly unlikely that I will get one, I am thinking, if I remove the evolution link from my notification bar will that fix the problem?
I have had some problems with Evolution. It sometimes freezes on start-up: I have to force it to quit. If I open "System Monitor", and end the evolution-alarm-notify task, then I can restart evolution successfully. I therefore suspect it is that which is causing trouble. What is it and how do I stop it?

Sounds, bleeps, rings, bells, etc., would also be great. Doesn't evolution have such a thing? IF not, what about online options. But I really prefer sg on this computers so I can still get the reminders when I am offline.

I had an issue (on more than one pc, and different ubuntu one accounts) and can't recognize if there are related posts. Something is messed up, but why? The reason why I'm opening a new thread is to ask: is gnome-keyring manager expected to have two entries for couchdb in the default behavior?
I want to erase my address book. After Ctrl+A > Ctrl+D > Yes and no effect, I can't delete single nor multiple contacts. Evolution states:

In Italian that means: Cannot delete the contact. Other error. (Maybe: undefined eror, unexpected error in en localization).
I'm running it on a Toshiba Satellite laptop.After getting the OS installed and configured evolution, I did a backup of the evolution on my desktop version of 10.04 and attempted to restore it to evolution on my laptop and while it did seem to work, it became corrupted and now won't load.
I uninstalled multiple times and reinstalled to get the same problem. I also removed a number of folders trying to get a clean install but ran into the same problem as soon as restored again.How can I completely remove evolution so that I can get a truly clean install where the wizard comes up for set up again once I open it for the first time?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am handling email with evolution 2.28.3, on 10.04.2 LTS. It is up to date. I do not wish to use "ubuntu one", so I removed it by following the instructions on their launchpad page. However, I still cannot stop evolution trying to use "ubuntu one". For example if I R-click an address in evolution and choose Add to address book, it defaults to adding it to "ubuntu one", not my local address book which I have to select every time.
I have been through all the configuration options in evolution, and de-selected "ubuntu one" wherever I see it. Evolution is still defaulting to saving addresses to "ubuntu one".
Simple question but maybe not a simple task. I want to automatically remove the "On [date] [person] wrote:" message when replying to an email using Evolution. Any ideas?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for an easy to use alarm clock program that I can suggest to new users. The two I have tried so far have fallen short of my expectations. "Alarm Clock" from the Ubuntu software repository starts out okay, but when the alarm actually goes off, getting it to stop seems pretty unintuitive. Click on the Alarm Clock icon, then click a Stop button in the new window that pops up. Sounds easy enough except that the icon used for "Stop" is just this grey square, so for users who are not familiar with linux or this program, it isn't even obvious that it is a button. I had one user actually uninstall the thing in order to get it to shut up. Preferably one should be able to silence the alarm by click on the alarm icon (or right clicking, if a 'doze' behavior is preferred) The other one I tried was alarm-clock-applet, which wants me to locate an alarm sound on my filesystem. Uh, no.
Does anyone know of a simple, basic alarm clock system that anyone can just sit down and immediately use without having to 'get in to the head' of the developer? Are the KDE alarms better? Am I missing something about either of these programs which would make them easier to use?
I installed 'Alarm Clock' from the Software Center and would like to have said app autostarts. There is an option in Alarm Clock to autostart with Gnome but that doesn't work so I assume the reason being I'm not root.
How to autostart Alarm Clock?
Also, in System > Preferences > Startup Applications, the 'Add' asks for a command. Is this like Windows whereas I simply point it to the app I want started? I don't even know where apps are installed. Who said ignorance is bliss?

On GMT I was waking on LAN at 23:30, all was working fine then we changed to BST. What I usually do is leave the BIOS clock on GMT and change the Wake on Alarm to 22:30. I did this, shut down Ubuntu fine, but its not waking up at all at 22:30, or any other time I set the WOA to. I had this problem a few years ago on an old ASrock mobo and cant remember how I sorted it - maybe by blanking the bios, cant remember.
I have a National Instruments gpib interface PCI card on my machine. It has been working up till now.The computer was moved when I was gone, and now at start up I get two alarm beeps from the motherboard speaker, no grub menu (hidden line is commented out and time out is gtr than 0).In the past I had to lock the kernel to 2.6.32-28.55.newer kernels broke the interface...although prolly foolioshly, I did allow other system updates.

This is literally a big enough deal that I might just un-install it. But, that would be terrible because I think it's a fantastic app if it didn't sit there for five god damn minutes telling me about messages I read five minutes ago...
No, not literally five minutes, so don't respond saying "There's no way its five minutes" or "if it lasts that long something's wrong with your computer". If I really can't change the timing then that's an awful call on the part of the programmers who made it. Who the hell wants an app that can't be adjusted in any way?
I was hoping to have a pop up come up after my rssdler completes, I was hoping for the nice pop ups that Ubuntu for brightness, audio volume, instant messages ect, i think it's called notify but i'm still figuring things out. Is there a way i can write this into my rssdler start up script? or any other script i'm writing?
