I need an alarm / reminder system for all the crap I have going on. I want one that will pop up and remind me of a given task. Sounds, bleeps, rings, bells, etc., would also be great. Doesn't evolution have such a thing? IF not, what about online options. But I really prefer sg on this computers so I can still get the reminders when I am offline.
View 2 RepliesI have my task list in evolution (mainly so it can sync with my phone and online task list) but I always forget to look at the task list. Is there an application or plugin which periodically displays the contents of the tasklist or even better, it briefly displays the most urgent/important tasks when I login? Or anything else which automatically displays the most important tasks. Currently I have to open the task list and look at them (which I usually forget). I do not mean some kind of alarm when the task is due but more a daily reminder of what to do.

As for evolution-alarm-notify, I don't use use evolution (unless I get a pgp encrypted email) which is highly unlikely that I will get one, I am thinking, if I remove the evolution link from my notification bar will that fix the problem?
I have had some problems with Evolution. It sometimes freezes on start-up: I have to force it to quit. If I open "System Monitor", and end the evolution-alarm-notify task, then I can restart evolution successfully. I therefore suspect it is that which is causing trouble. What is it and how do I stop it?

I just leave them plugged in so when an alarm goes off from Thunderbird or Evolution, I can't hear it. Is there a way to get some use out of my internal system speaker and have a reliable calendar-event-reminder and alarm? I just noticed that it is available for SUSE, and figured that since KDE is the principal desktop supported by KDE the SUSE version may be fixed. Before I go through the very tedious process of getting the SUSE version to compile on Fedora, I'd like to know whether anyone has seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution:It ignores font control from the KDE Settings->Applications Appearance window, both KDE font control and GTK+ font control, also its own internal font control window.
It has trouble sending messages to an SMTP server, sometimes taking a l-o-n-g time, sometimes timing out. This can be temporarily cured by restarting it It crashes when a filter attempts to refile an outgoing message. It often asks if I want to recover messages that have never been lost. It often locks up receiving mail from a remote POP3 server. I can live with these, except for items 1 and 2, since I have workarounds. If you are fairly sure that you have not seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution
My system slows much down so that i cannot use it at all when am watching any online videos or movies am using firefox 3.6.13 .

ubuntu 10.04 on 40 GB seagate ide harddisk
Windows Xp on 80 GB western digital ide harddisk in dual boot.
And also my browser cannot open login page of yahoo site and some time it waits saying waiting for s7.addthis.com, or waiting for ad.yieldmanager.com like some thing when i am trying to open some sites

View 4 Replies View RelatedI accidentally deleted one of the libraries in /lib or /usr/lib and now when I boot into Debian, it won't load the GUI. I get an error message saying that something failed because the library needed did not exist (I couldn't read it because the text was scrolling by so fast, so I don't know exactly what it said). I need to find an archive or something of all the system libraries for Lenny so I can reinstall them. Is there a place online where I can download them?

View 6 Replies View RelatedYesterday Ubuntu One stopped syncing properly: all files and folders were listed on the web site grayed out and tagged with "uploading", while there was "0 bytes Used". I could still upload files manually to the website fairly quickly, so it probably wasn't purely server overload. Anyway, a number of things happened after that:uninstalled the Ubuntu One client packages and reinstalled them in Account settings on the website, I removed my computer, hoping to make a fresh start the Ubuntu online account login system for some reason forced me to change my password (presumably it wasn't strong enough)
After all that, I can still login to the website (with the new password), but the computer can't login. When I type u1sdtool -s in terminal, the result is

When I open Ubuntu One Preferences from the Me menu, it completely freezes at the Account tab; I can't click anything or even close it (have to kill it in terminal).
I suppose the login failure has to do with the old password whcih was saved in the keyring. The removed computer from the account probably complicates the issue.

I want to see the day name of the event (like "Today", "Tomorrow", or "Next Wednesday") and the name of the event (or be able to specify a custom image - that would be great). Instead, it tells me when the original event was scheduled (many of my events are recurring events and I have no interest in when I set them up a year ago) and the new date/time. I then have to look at a calendar to figure out what day it will be - kind of silly when I'm in a calendar application to start with.
