Ubuntu :: Firefox - When Open Up A New Web Page It Does Not Automatically Allow To Scroll

After installing a bunch of new updates with the update manager a few problems have popped up regarding the scrolling in firefox with the arrow keys. The first problem is that when I open up a new web page it does not automatically allow me to scroll. I have to first click the web page and then are the arrow keys enabled. The second problem that I have is that when I press the down arrow key to scroll down in the beginning it jumps down to the end of the page. The third and final problem is how it scrolls. For some reason a site in firefox acts like a word document. Instead of be the arrow keys controlling the scroll bar it controlls the little I symbol you see when typing.
It is amazing how annoying it can be when you can't scroll with the arrow keys. If nobody knows how to then I will probably just reinstall firefox. I have also just figured out that page up and down also do not work.
I like text and graphics large so i've used about:config in Firefox to set both the min and max zoom level at 120%, but want to firefox start using these settings. Once opened i can press ctrl and + to jump to 120% zoom and once i'm there my settings make me stay there no matter what. What i want is for Firefox to open at these settings.
When I go into firefox I loss the menu bar at the top for some reason. I can minimise or open another application while in Firefox and to shut down have to close firefox first. how to get back the menu so I can see it again?Seems to happen in firefox only but not other programs.I can't seem to change text now. I was gonna put this in the newbie section but its kinda distro related.Ubuntu 10.10 Server.I'm booting to the console then running a program.Said program spams the console and I would like to see things that were already written between the spam.So basically I want to page up and see.Is there any way to do this?Or do I need some kind of console/terminal program or gui I can boot to that will allow me to page/scroll up?I don't want to load a desktop.
I'm using a wireless USB mouse, and whenever I scroll the middle wheel, it will do a PageUp/Down for me. I mean, it is supposed to move the page slightly up/down?
I've check the mouse setting in gnome to find that it only offers a few options like primary key and mouse speed. Is there any way to tune the up/down scale to normal?
I need a better tutorial than the out of date books I own or I can find using Google. If someone has a place they would recommend, please provide a link. I have a web page that is 3 column. On FC11 64 bit with Adobe flash plugin for Linux installed, I see segfault errors from "npviewer" in /var/log/messages. The only browser I have tried yet, Firefox, has glitches every now and then. Sometimes it shows the title of a page in a tab, but the page is blank. This can even happen when I try the Google main page. Is it true that npviewer has something to do with Adobe flash? Is there a way to fix the problem? If it is caused by Adobe flash, is there a different plugin that will replace Adobe flash player?
Is there anyway to change the scroll speed for the mouse in Firefox? Right now it leaps down a long way for each click of the scroll wheel, practically leaving me cross eyed and having to search for my position where I was reading. I can't seem to find a way to adjust this anywhere.
I've been working on tightening up my firefox display. I've managed to cut down the vertical scrollbar. Anyone know how to do the same with the horizontal scroll bar. See screenshot? I'm running this on an eeepc 701 (hence the small screen size).

In Google Chrome Beta and in Epiphany, I am able to scroll through the different tabs with the middle mouse button. However, this doesn't happen in Firefox. Is there any way to implement a feature like this in Firefox?
Usually but not always, when I try to scroll down by clicking in the vertical scroll bar - instead of going down approx 1 screen firefox slowly and jerkily and out of control goes all the way to the bottom of the page. If it is a long page I wait a long time.
The wheel on the mouse works fine, moving the vertical scroll handle with the mouse works fine, pushing the down arrow also works fine.
Alternatively - sometimes the vertical scroll works as I expect it to.
Alterntively - when I use Opera it scrolls as I would expect.
I would like to say that I have tried searching for a possible solution on this, and I may be wrong, but I haven't found anything on it. Anyhow, I am here because I would like to know if there is a way to enable the "scroll wheel" in Firefox, like in Windows, on Ubuntu 10.04.
When zooming in on some websites there is no horizontal scroll bar and therefore you can't scroll over to see the rest of the webpage? Hi, very new to opensuse. I have 64bit 11.3 and its been working very well. My problem is that in Firefox: I have Firefox 3.6.12 when i scroll down using the mouse scroll wheel (not up?) most of the time, but not all the time i get horizontal lines instead of the "real picture". This also happens when i use my keyboard's down arrow key.
When i go slower it seems to happen less often. Also if i click off the page and back on again the display is fine. Is this problem my graphics card? Firefox? or my mouse/keyboard?
I have a couple of large-format printers (Epson R2400, HP 9650) which I only use infrequently. If they are not used very often, they dry out, the print heads get packed up, it's an expensive mess to deal with when times comes to run off some prints. The printers are physically connected to a Windows machine to which my Ubuntu computer is networked.It would be helpful if there was a utility that could initiate a test page print job on the machines, which could be scheduled to run once a week or so. I've had no luck finding such a thing for Windows
This is rather queer, as I know what I'm looking for, but I'm not sure what it is called, or whether it exists in Writer.
I'm writing a report, and I would like to have the content (index) page configured "automatically", so that it lists my headings in the rest of the document, but if I add something in the middle of what has already been written then it should pick that up and change the content page accordingly, without messing up the page numbers. It's quite a pain to make a content page by hand. I think MS Word has a tool to allow you to do this, but I don't want to use MS Word in this case for various reasons. So does anyone know what this is called and perhaps how it is done on Writer. Although, if I know what it's called, I can use the Help.
I really enjoyed using Apple's wireless Mighty Mouse and Magic mouse because of their ability to easily touch scroll 360 degrees. Unfortunately, Linux drivers are not provided for these mice.Is there an equivalent wireless mouse that works well in Linux? Ideally with native support or community provided drivers, etc.
The new scroll tab that 11.04 has appears when you hover over the orange area on the scroll bar. The scrolling arrows are gone.Well this scrolling tab often vanishes before I can click on it to scroll down. Is there a way to revert to the old style, like the scrolling mechanism on these forums? It is nice to have the option of the arrows on top and bottom, along with the scroll tab thing.
I just installed firefox and flash-plugin.The version of firefox is 3.0.10, package is firefox-3.0.10-1.el5.centos.The version of flash-plugin is 10.0.22.87, package is flash-plugin-10.0.22.87-1.el5.rf.But firefox crashes when there is flash in web page, unless disable flash plugin in firefox.
I am using ubuntu 8.10 and firefox 3.0.png and for some reason I cant minimise the firefox page and it is taking up most of the screen. None of the top bar with Applications Places and System or date volume in fact no top bar. I cant remember everything I have tried. When I go to custom the top bar briefly appearers and then goes off.
that's pretty much about it. I just can't open the IMDB web page. It never loads and the page is just blank.The firefox tab says: "loading" and later says "the connection was reset" blablabla. It is the only web page that I can't view so far.

When I try to open any nfs-mounted file using OpenOffice, I get a pop-up window titled "Document in Use". The text of the message is:
"Document file 'abcde.odt' is locked for editing by:
Unknown User
Open document read-only or open a copy of the document for editing." I then have three options - <Open Read-Only>, <Open Copy>, & <Cancel> If I cp any of these files from the mounted directory to my home dir (not mounted), I can open them without problem.Also, my firefox & thunderbird date are in this mounted directory as well (sym links to ~dan/.mozilla & ~dan/.thunderbird). Both of these apps hang when trying to open, leaving two processes behind that need to be manually killed. Again, cp'ing the data out of the nfs-mounted dir onto a local dir resolves the issue, so I am 100% confident there is nothing missing or corrupted in the firefox &/or thunderbird data...

When I open 'firefox' from the app panel at the top of the screen, it opens on the last web site visited.
I've looked every place I can think to tell it to open in a blank screen. My preferences are set to blank. Right click on the icon > properties shows 'firefox %u'.
Is there something in 'about:config' that would control this and what do I search for?
When I start firefox the home google page will load and all is well. When I go to any other page (ex. cnn.com, gmail, etc) the page will load graphically, but then continue to load forever. At this point I cannot click on anything in firefox including the drop-down menus.I must force quit at this point.
I updated last night even though I was already using firefox 3.6. I had a problem with flash last time I updated. I reinstalled firefox and went back to firefox 3.5 without any success.This makes me think that the problem is something other than firefox.I am on a Toshiba Satellite L505-S5965 running ubuntu 9.10. I'd give you more information but when I click on system and go down to "About Ubuntu" it loads forever - this is another problem I need to fix. Ugh. I should never have updated
