Is there anyway to change the scroll speed for the mouse in Firefox? Right now it leaps down a long way for each click of the scroll wheel, practically leaving me cross eyed and having to search for my position where I was reading. I can't seem to find a way to adjust this anywhere.

The only thing that has changed is that I have used a different usb port for my mouse now, and I have installed a copy of windows 7 on my second HD. However, after all this, my mouse scroll speed on Ubuntu is unbearably too fast. Its almost half a page for every one "click" of the mouse scroll wheel.

For some reason it scrolls way more than is normal (not just in web browsers, but in every application). The mouse scroll wheel speed/line skipping is way too fast. It skips half the page in one scroll! Is there a menu (like Windows) that lets you customize this?
In technical terms, it's a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 with BlueTrack technology.
I have scrolling speed problem on my mouse, however it s working sometimes when i restart OS i mean it s working slowly as it should. But it s random dont know whats wrong with sometimes it s scrolling so fast and thats killing me u know it s really so hard to use it when browse something on web-pages. Weird part is how it s working ok when i restart OS.

I know you can just go to the scrunched up icon and hover it and it will appear, but is there a way to increase the scrolling speed when using a mouse wheel? It seems a little slow for my taste.
I think I seen a "bug report", for this, which really isn't a bug, but more a desired option to customize the unity launcher. Just wondering if this has been figured out, or even possible.

How may I slow down the mouse scroll speed in F10? When I use the scroll wheel, a mere fraction of a turn and I am zooming through a page. I already tried changing some settings in Firefox, per another posting on scroll speed. It did not seem to work.

After installing a bunch of new updates with the update manager a few problems have popped up regarding the scrolling in firefox with the arrow keys. The first problem is that when I open up a new web page it does not automatically allow me to scroll. I have to first click the web page and then are the arrow keys enabled. The second problem that I have is that when I press the down arrow key to scroll down in the beginning it jumps down to the end of the page. The third and final problem is how it scrolls. For some reason a site in firefox acts like a word document. Instead of be the arrow keys controlling the scroll bar it controlls the little I symbol you see when typing.
It is amazing how annoying it can be when you can't scroll with the arrow keys. If nobody knows how to then I will probably just reinstall firefox. I have also just figured out that page up and down also do not work.

View 4 Replies View RelatedUsually but not always, when I try to scroll down by clicking in the vertical scroll bar - instead of going down approx 1 screen firefox slowly and jerkily and out of control goes all the way to the bottom of the page. If it is a long page I wait a long time.
The wheel on the mouse works fine, moving the vertical scroll handle with the mouse works fine, pushing the down arrow also works fine.
Alternatively - sometimes the vertical scroll works as I expect it to.
Alterntively - when I use Opera it scrolls as I would expect.
In 10.04 Lucid my Nautilus scroll bars are white. The scroll bar slider (the icon that can be moved up and down with the cursor to scroll the window) is the exact same shade of white and the slider outline is pale grey. The lack of color contrast makes the slider hard to see. Is there a preference item somewhere that lets me change this color scheme?
I expected to find it in System >> Preferences >> Appearance >> Theme but I don't think there's anything there about the scroll bars. I think my monitor might be more contrasty than most, which is probably exacerbating the problem, but this is what I have to work with. I would rather fix it by changing a system setting than replacing the monitor.
I would like to say that I have tried searching for a possible solution on this, and I may be wrong, but I haven't found anything on it. Anyhow, I am here because I would like to know if there is a way to enable the "scroll wheel" in Firefox, like in Windows, on Ubuntu 10.04.

View 5 Replies View RelatedHi, very new to opensuse. I have 64bit 11.3 and its been working very well. My problem is that in Firefox: I have Firefox 3.6.12 when i scroll down using the mouse scroll wheel (not up?) most of the time, but not all the time i get horizontal lines instead of the "real picture". This also happens when i use my keyboard's down arrow key.
When i go slower it seems to happen less often. Also if i click off the page and back on again the display is fine. Is this problem my graphics card? Firefox? or my mouse/keyboard?
Is there a plugin or a setting that I'm missing that would allow me to change volume using the scroll wheel instead of seeking? I usually use VLC for my videos but I would prefer to use Totem if possible.

The scrolling arrows are gone.Well this scrolling tab often vanishes before I can click on it to scroll down. Is there a way to revert to the old style, like the scrolling mechanism on these forums? View 3 Replies View RelatedIn Windows (which I can happily say that I no longer have) I had a program called SpeedFan, which monitored the temperatures of my hardware and also my fan speeds. In Ubuntu I monitor my temperatures and fan speed through and AWN applet called Hardware Sensors; however I cannot find a program to change the fan speed. I think that it is just running at full speed in Ubuntu, I'm sure it was slower in Windows.

I am impressed with the visuals of both Ubuntu 10.04 and Firefox 3.6, but unfortunately I've been experiencing a very annoying issue since my install of 10.04 two days ago.
When I begin a Firefox session (using profile manager, in case it might have any relevance to the issue) it moves at lightning speed for the first five or so pages. Then, if I try a website it will time out (I have tried various pages, so it is not a page-specific issue) forcing me to refresh the page, wait roughly ten seconds, and finally be back on the initial page.
I am too lazy to re-list my PC stats, but they can be found in my signature. I am running on a household network, with the average connection speed ranging from from 40-80%.
The only other Ubuntu release I have used is Jaunty, where Firefox 3.0 (was it really 3.0 back then?) worked perfectly.
I have installed Google Chrome as well, and it seems to have the same relative issue, but it manages to recover from the timeouts quickly.
My only thought is perhaps it is an internal Internet setting that is disturbing the browser(s), potentially a default setting that has been modified since 9.04?
improve rendering speed in Fedora? I notice it's very, very slow compared to Firefox on Windows, and Safari on Mac. I know my hardware is quite old, but it should behave similar to Windows...

I noticed that, when choosing different notes, LMMS not only changes the pitch of the instrument, but also the speed. So, if an instrument makes a sound that lasts about 5 seconds, a really low note can make it last about 10 seconds, and a really high note can last about 1 second. Is there a way to configure how LMMS handles sounds so that it changes their pitch, without changing their speed?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an AMD Athlon Regor 2.8 Ghz Dual Core CPU. About a month ago I overclocked the bad boy to 3.36 Ghz, on stock voltage. Since I have an AMD chip, I have the Cool and Quiet feature. With CnQ on, it never shows more than 2.8 Ghz (my stock speed), even on Full Load. However, with it off, it shows the correct 3360 Mhz all the time. I would like to keep CnQ, as well as my overclock. I've read in forums that it's okay to do that, that CnQ will automatically clock up to overclock when needed. But for me, with CnQ on, it only hits 2.8. Nothing more. Is this an Ubuntu problem? Is there a setting where I can change the maximum allowed speed of my CPU?
