View 6 RepliesI have myopia. I read the documents with quite large font size (13). But some of chm viewer such as: kchmviewer, gnochm, xchm, ... open the .chm files with tiny font. I must click the Zoom in, larger button 2 --> 5 times to get the sastified font. Is there any chm viewer support setting for minimum font size?

My OS is openSUSE 11.3, KDE 4.4.4. release 8.
Any type and size of font I use, nothing happens. It's still same font which I choose for the first time I've started Firefox afer installing openSUSE 11.3.
I have a Mac Powerbook G4. About two months ago my font sizes changed on Firefox browser. I have searched and tried many firefox apps to fix the problem, but NONE of them work. All I want to do is go back to my old firefox with normal size fonts ALL THE TIME, ALWAYS.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using Arch Linux with KDE 4.6 and Firefox 5.0, and I had to install a GTK+ theme to make apps like Firefox look nicer. Now, I have another problem—Firefox doesn't use font smoothing on sites, even though KDE itself uses font smoothing. I didn't see anything related to that in settings.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just installed Linux(Ubuntu) and I when from Windows to Linux. I use the option to use the entire hard drive when it installed and my question is when I had it use the entire hard drive did it keep the computer drivers or did it erase them? I notice that the sound is only about have as loud as before but is that Linux or my computer? I also notice when I plug in my mp3 sometimes it doesn't detect it. Also when I plug in my headset into the font USB it doesn't work. I'm not sure what is going on.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to create several virtual machines based on a minimal (no GUI) Ubuntu installation. I'm using VirtualBox (on Windows 7), the VMs are being created with 256MB RAM and using the Ubuntu Minimal CD Image [URL]. Because I want 4-5 of these virtual machines I want to use minimal disk space for storage too, which means restricting the virtual hard disk size for each. My first attempt was to limit it to 300MB, but when I got to the partitioning section of the installer it would not allow me to do automatic partitioning and forced me to do manual partitioning, it did moan about the size of the disk.
So I started again with a 1GB virtual hard disk, this time the installer was quite happy to do the automatic partitioning. My question is how small can I make my virtual hard disk without having to do manual partitioning? I don't have a problem with doing the partitioning manually but for easiness I just want to do it automatically and find it strange the acceptable size isn't mentioned anywhere (that I could find).
These following ext3 partitions contain identical data. As we can see, the larger the partition size, the more space is required for the same files:
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/loop11 3965777 561064 3199964 15% [...]
/dev/loop19 573029 543843 29186 95% [...]

I have this annoying problem since day one.I am testing out Red Hat RHEL5, everything is fine except DNS look up.If I ping www.google.com, it doesn't work, ping ip address it all works;if I bring up browser, put www.google.com it doesn't work, can't find the name, however, simply put ip address there it works. My DNS seeting seems ok, and the DNS works from Windows box.
View 2 Replies View RelatedActually I want to log a bug but I don't really know what package to log it against. The problem is that by default Pango is choosing the AR PL UMing CN as the font to render Japanese text when the current font doesn't have Japanese glyphs. But AR PL UMing CN is a Chinese font, so Chinese glyphs for kanji characters (e.g., 覚) are displayed. This is jarring and confusing for Japanese readers.
This situation mostly arises when you have mixed English and Japanese text. Some applications (for instance Firefox) will allow you to select a font for Asian text. Thus if the text contains only Asian characters it will use the font you select, rather than what Pango would have selected. But if it is a mix of English and Japanese, you end up with the wrong glyphs.
Other environments (like gnome-terminal, or a gedit) have difficulties as well. Since the primary interface requires mono spaced roman characters you run into difficulty selecting fonts. Most Japanese fonts only have proportional roman characters. This means that if use a nice roman font and use Japanese text (for instance file names), you end up with Chinese glyphs. What I want is a mechanism that will work across all of Gnome for selecting the font I want to use for Chinese characters. That way I can choose either Japanese or Chinese glyphs.
I realize this is low priority. It only bugs me a little, but many of my Japanese colleagues are put off from using Ubuntu because they are confused by the Chinese glyphs that pop up on my screen from time to time. As I said, I'd like to file a bug, but I'm not sure against what package...
After a while of sifting through other threads, I decided none of them could solve my problem. My problem: when I click the Firefox icon on the quick launch sidebar in 11.04, it just blinks and Firefox never opens.
I tried reinstalling Firefox, removing and reinstalling the packages from the Synaptic Package Manager but that's about it. When I type "Firefox" into the command line it says something along the lines of "/home/apw5020/firefox: firefox not found". When I go into usr/bin/firefox and run the shell script directly it will run however. Is the shortcut path non existent or just incorrect? Any idea how I can fix it?
When I run it in Classic, Firefox doesn't work either. By the way, I used some workaround to run Firefox 4 before 11.04 was released involving PPAs.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIt seems that there is no way for me to install java plugin in firefox 3.6. I've already read some threads about similar problems but none of the solutions that worked for other people work for me. So I decided to open a new thread. Following instructions of other threads, I uninstalled all java packages and installed again just the three that you can see below, but nothing changed.
Opensuse 11.1
KDE 4.4.1
Firefox 3.6
Code:
# rpm --query --all '*java*'
java-1_6_0-sun-1.6.0.u7-20.4
java-1_6_0-sun-plugin-1.6.0.u7-20.4

Updated to Firefox 3.6.6 Clicking on any link on a page does not work. Same in 3.6.7 Hardy Heron
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I start firefox the mouse seems captured by it.I can use the mouse inside the firefox screen (change tabs, use menu, select/paste) but not anywhere else. Even if a popup appears (site wants to register a cookie) then I can only use the keyboard to "ok" it. alt-tab to another window is not possible.Using the mouse in the gome-panel won't work.I can get the mouse pointer anywhere on the screen but mouse clicks don't seem to register. I've had this problem before on 10.04 and the only thing that worked then was to create a new useraccount (a lot of hassle).
edit: The window manager also won't react to the mouse so closing the firefox window is not possible using the windowmanager buttons(X - 0)It's also not limited to Firefox, after I closed firefox via it's menu and then started a gnome-terminal the mouse was caught in that. After closing the gnome-terminal and restarting firefox it degraded even further in that the mouse would'nt even work in the window itself anymore.Only a reboor would reset the problem.
firefox 5 is almost my favourite browser. but there is the following bug: if you configure your Tabs on top (i think its the default setting) you can't access the url-adress-form with the hotkey F6. As workaround you can use F6 and TAB key - but that isn't very comfortable.....

View 2 Replies View RelatedOn Ubuntu 10.04, Synaptic indicates that current version {10.0.32.18-1(now) for AdobeFlash plugin} is latest but websites appear to indicate that latest version is 10.0.45-1. Is there a more current (latest) version for Firefox under Ubuntu 10.04 and if so, how do I go about installing it? I tried to download and got a "Status: Error: Conflicts with installed package 'flashplugin installer'" when I clicked on the .deb file.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm a student in a linux class and we just installed fedora. so far it's nice except that the work we do is in the CLI which I can barely see because it's so small on the screen! Anyone know how to change the font size so that I can actually see the work I'm doing?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running OpenSUSE 11.2 on my Acer Aspire One with a 9 inch LCD. I have configured the monitor in Sax2 to reflect the size and 1024x600 resolution, and as a result the desktop fonts are all sized correctly.
However, the fonts on the KDM log-in screen are too large, and I'd like to reduce them if possible. Looking in the KDE Control Center, I tried using the Login Manager utility to adjust the KDM theme, but any changes I made seemed to have no effect i.e. changing the font size, or even the overall theme itself, still resulted in KDM using the default green OpenSUSE theme with large fonts.
Does anyone know, therefore, how to adjust the KDM font size or DPI in OpenSUSE 11.2?
I'm running OpenSuSE 11.3, upgraded from 11.1, with the Nvidia video driver. The font size for Yast, Firefox, and several other things is too small. I've tried changing it using the Appearance section of Personal Settings. That changes the font size in some contexts such as the window titles and task manager, but not in all contexts. In Firefox I've tried something similar, but it doesn't affect the font used in the tabs, function bar on the top, etc. The font in those parts of Firefox is the same as the one in Yast. So there's some other font setting around, but I haven't been able to find it. I've tried Google and SDB, but have no success searching there.
