May 14, 2010I just upgraded from Hardy to Lucid and for some reason the only height the menu will use is 32 px.I used to have it at 24 px before the upgrade and I want to make it that again. How can I change the height of this icon/menu?

Jun 11, 2010I am running ubuntu 10.04 with the fglrx driver installed with apt-get. I have an ATI Radeon HD AGP with 512MB of video ram. My bios window size is 64MB. The Xorg.0.log file shows that 512MB is recognized. I also tried checking the /proc/mtrr file and it shows two values one I believe is my ram size which looks to be correct at 1.5GB the other is 512MB which I think is my video ram size, but when I do an lspci -v the video ram size shows 256MB. I am trying to run Doom 3 and it only allows me to use 256MB of memory.

Having a strange video problem after recently up-ing to 11.4. When new windows open maximized, they are opening at the wrong size (slightly too small) resulting in a distorted view including 'broken' fonts (missing pixels). If I unmaximize the new window, and then re-maximize it, it now maximizes to the correct size and everything is fine.
OpenSUSE Install :: Wrong Display Size On Resume - 11.2
Aug 25, 2010I installed opensuse 11.2 on ASUS R2E nicely It have a 7" touchscreen and works nice. The screen is correctly settled to 800x480 on boot however after a S2RAM it is reinitialized as 800x600. I made an xorg.conf with only one fixed mode on 800x480 but daesn't seems to be considered on resume. After cold boot sax2 get the right size (800x480) and after resume 800x600 The video chipset is intel 945 GM.
May this be related to hardware reinitialization ? How to re-initialize X on resume ?

Jul 24, 2010The short version: I have created a launcher shortcut on my Desktop for Evolution Mail, and right now it uses the springboard icon. I would like to use the icon that I see in the applications menu launcher for Evolution. Where do I find this icon?
The longer version: A few Ubuntu versions ago, I got rid of the Evolution Mail icon from the top panel, as there was no apparent way for me to set mail accounts to other than the standard ports. I went with Thunderbird instead.
Well, while Thunderbird gives me a box to set the port number in, Evolution doesn't, but I can still specify my nonstandard port by placing a : and the port number after: example.com:26 for a mail server at example.com om port 26.
Now, I have put Evolution Mail to use, and have created a desktop launcher for it. For now I am using the default springboard icon. I see the envelope icon in the applications menu for Evolution but I have no idea of the icon's address. I am familiar with Windows XP, and it is easy to assign a program's icon to a new shortcut. I have just added shortcut for example.exe. I go to the shortcut's Properties and click on the icon, and immediately see the program or library file that contains the icon I am currently using, either as an embedded icon or set of icons, or I see an .ico file for that icon. I can navigate to Program Filesexample and see either example.exe with its embedded icons or example.ico.
I created a new shortcut on my Ubuntu Desktop. and was presented with a springboard icon. I click on the icon in the creation process and am presented with a pile of generic icons, much the same as with Windows.
if I open the Properties and click on the icon, I end up looking at a listing in my Home directory. This is regardless of where the current icon is located. I looked in /usr/share/applications/evolution and saw icons folder, but it had no envelope for Evolution Mail. All I see is icons dealing with the calendar, in anything from 16x16 to 48x48 and scalable.

Apr 11, 2010I have a issue in that my 30gb creative zen is showing up fine as a media device, I can delete and add files. It is showing up as z 3.9gp partition. I formatted inside the Zen I formatted inside Windows Vista It showed 28,800ish megs free and it still showed up at a 3.9 gig partition There is no .trash folder How can I fix this? Qlix installed don't know if that matters.

Mar 20, 2011Is there some better way of getting my display size set to 1280x960 when I launch openSUSE 11.4 under VMware Server? Here's what I've done so far: I am running Windows 7 on an AMD Phenom II system (motherboard: Gigabyte 880GMA-UD2H). I installed VMware Server (version 2.0.2) so that I can run openSUSE 11.4. The initial install went pretty smoothly. However, the display size was set to 800x500. I attempted to set it to 1280x960 by changing the /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-monitor.conf file as follows:

This resulted in a display size of 1734x1342 (or something close to that). I noted from the /var/log/Xorg.0.log file that the vmwlegacy driver is being used instead of the vmware svga driver. There is a note that the vmwlegacy driver does not support the "PreferredMode" setting in the monitor section of the xorg.conf files. For the time being, I have set my horizontal and vertical rates to 60kHz and 60Hz, respectively. This does limit the maximum display size to 1280x960, but for all the wrong reasons. How do I set up my system to get the correct display size?

Apr 22, 2010When I got Ubuntu 10.04 beta the first thing I did was to uninstall Empathy as it was crashing a lot and I was used to some other application.Currently I want to use Empathy and reinstalled it.My problem is that instead of chat conversations "merge" with the evolution envelope icon Empathy seems to have it's own static icon. It's annoying because the icon is the same "green orb" whether I have a new message or not. The problem is not the version (2.30.0.1) as a personal friend has the same version and has it working fine.I already searched google and forums and tried re-installing empathy, indicator-applet, indicator-messages or evolution-indicator, cleaning cache and all.
