Mar 3, 2010i got my facebook chat working in empathy, but for some reason i can not add my friends from this protocol into a custom group. I have my gmail contacts in a group, and my aim buddies in a group, allowing them to be minimized, but i cannot get my facebook friends to go into a facebook group for some reason. I can right click the friend, and create a new group called "Facebook", but the friend will not move to the group when i hit close.

May 9, 2010I just recently started using Empathy, and so far, it's great with one problem.As long as Empathy is online, my Facebook status (as others see it) is "available", regardless of how I have my status in Empathy. Kind of puts a damper on things when people think I'm being rude and ignoring them. Have others experienced this issue? Is this a user error, or something that needs to be fixed upstream?

Feb 7, 2011i have a gnome debian squeeze fresh install. this new release is perfect except for one problem i am having. the sound will not work in empathy when i receive a message from somebody. i have it set to do this in the settings and i am sure that my sound works because i was watching videos before. when i run alsamixer, all of my channels are not on mute. is there a package that is missing from my system that i might need? i tried researching this but i could not find any help.

Sep 5, 2010I get error when I try to login my yahoo account. It seems okay with Gtalk, I havent checked the others because I use yahoo for most of time. It blows out network error no matter how i try: killall tempathy-butterfly (it's probably not running on my system, I've tried with killall telepathy-haze,salut which are running and having relative with telepathy ), edit host file, change the server name by adding cn before it. But it's still no go up to now.
My alternatives are meebo or wine and trillian, worked, but is there any chance for Empathy or Pidgin (it gives me error: connection refused)? It's just happened for 3-4 days recently, i dont know whether my network has configured right or not. Hope someone give me a hand which should embarrass me to continue living in linux bug world.

The steps I took were the simplest ones: Edit > Accounts Add...Protocol: IRC Network: FreeNode Nickname: pedrosanta Real Name: Pedro Santa Start session This is very, very strange. Jul 13, 2010I recently wanted to build Empathy 2.31 from a source tarball (after having installed all the dependencies listed on the Empathy website).I got the following error while launching ./autogen.sh:
Code:configure: error: glib-compile-schemas not found.After some googling to try to fix this problem, I've found a thread on these forums. It was saying install libglib2.0-dev an then install (or remove) gnome-shell.I tried every solution I've found but nothing works, still got the error.Does anyone here succeded in compiling Empathy from source please?

May 21, 2011I recently purchased a Dell Vostro v130 which came with Win 7 pre-loaded. I've been using it for a few weeks with no problems, but now I'd like to install ubuntu studio. I made it through the the partitioning part but now I'm getting a networking error: "Network autoconfiguration failed. Your network is probably not using the DHCP protocol. Alternatively, the DHCP server may be slow or some network hardware is not working properly."
I've been using the wireless connection in win 7 without any problem so I don't know why I'm having a problem now.

I have added few printers over there and everything is working fine. I can also able to add - delete - modify any printers from "yast2 printer" command. I can also able to browse cups web interface via http://cups:631, but when I am going to manage the printers (start - stop - delete etc), none of the buttons are working in firefox5 not even in IE also. Older version of firefox is giving error as "This address uses a network port which is normally used for purposes other than Web browsing. Firefox has canceled the request for your protection." All other buttons are working properly.
2. LINUX - LINUX Printing - OK
LINUX - WINDOWS Printing - OK
WINDOWS - LINUX Printing - NOT OK
While giving printing from Windows machine (Printer attached on Linux), there is no problem to coonect the printers, but unable to print.

Apr 25, 2010I can't add my facebook account to gwibber. Here is what i do:Click on envelope in the top panel. Click Broadcast.In Broadcast Accounts click dropdown and select Facebook. Then click Add.I then click Authorise. A blue facebook login page appears. I click on the small link at the bottom that says Log in with Facebook.Type in my credentials and click Connect. Wait a long time then goes back to Authorise window. With the words Facebook authorised.I click on Add and nothing happens. I did try to start using this on Alpha 2 but gave up but now I've done a full reinstall using RC version.
