Using Rhythmbox 0.12.8 in Unbuntu 10.04, if you want to disable the pop up song notification every time it starts a new song, go to:
Edit -> Plugins
and un-check the "Status Icon" plugin.
does anyone know a way to disable those annoying NM 0.7.1 popup balloons in F11 (KDE)? The ones that say that it is now connected to the wired eth0 network for example? I would really like to get rid of those ugly GTK notifications in KDE, but the NM GUI doesn't seem to have an option for this?!
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever I plug my Zune in, Rhythmbox recognizes all the songs on it but when I doubleclick on a song to play it, the song doesn't play and Rhythmbox quits. Any suggestions on how to fix it? I'm running a Dell XPS 410 with 4GB RAM and a 1.75 GHz processor.Also, I imported a CD and it plays fine.

Video Card: ATI Raedon Mobility 7500 (open source drivers)
Running GNOME up to date version for 9.10, no compiz for now (on laptop)
The main problem is that, after updates, I have been getting popups and notifications that look like the attached... Which is problematic if you want to use popup/notifications such as those popped up.... These include Pidgin notifications, Sound Notifications, and whenever I attempt to open System Monitor, as can be seen from the snapshots.
there is this unknown notification popup appear on top left of the screen other than the one on the panel. Anyone have experience on remove the top notification popup? this is my root account that i mainly use everyday, but if i created new account the top navigation not exist.

Transmission offers to run a script when a download is complete.
I'd like that script to create a popup message saying "Download Complete" (including the name of what was completed if possible otherwise just generic "DL complete")
I tried 'man notify-osd' and 'notify-osd --help' but it is not found.
Yet it is installed by default.
The message must stay up until clicked on so that if something finishes overnight, the msg is still there in the morning.
Is there some kind of Ubuntu desktop application that notifies you when your WAN ip address has changed? I don't care about my LAN ip address. I need some kind of popup on the desktop when my ISP assigns the next dynamic WAN ip address.

However, since I upgraded to Maverick when I repeat that same procedure Rhythmbox will search for an artist containing whatever I typed instead of a song's title containing it.
I want the old feature back. I don't know if I'm being clear...
I just moved all my songs over to my samba share server. I've been meaning to do it for a while and I finally did. Before that I had all my songs locally and if I needed to delete something I didn't want I could do it straight from Rhythmbox as I was listening to it (instead of tediously going through a file browser and manually deleting it).
However, now that I've put everything on to the samba share (which I've mapped to /home/chris/Music in my fstab as CIFS) I cannot delete anything from Rhythmbox. I get an "Operation not supported by backend" error. However, I can delete, copy, paste, create and do anything else fine in nuatilus, windows explorer or a terminal from any computer.
Why would I be getting this error? I'm 99.9% sure it's not a samba issue. Is it possible that Rhythmbox cannot handle remote shares except reading from them? The only workaround I can think of is to keep files both locally and on the samba share and to also create a two way sync between the two root "Music" folders. Anything updated or deleted on either end would be populated across the other. But my point here is that I shouldn't have to. I would like to just keep it simple, plus the point of having the samba share is to free up space on my local end as well as making all the songs available over the network.
Rhythmbox 0.13.1 on Ubuntu 10.10. So far, I tested my favourite plugin "jess plugin" and the standard plugin "goom", it appears on both. After the visualisation freezes, it isn't possible to start it again unless rhythmbox is restarted. (But the rest of the program keeps on working at least.) How to avoid that? It doesn't happen in totem... (But I want to use my rhythmbox library).

I'm listening to a song and it plays all the way through, but when its done it doesnt play the next song. I can select a new song but when I do, it freezes. i'm using an HPG71 if that helps.

Everytime I start the program up, it builds the library fresh from the folders, so any changes I've made to track numbers, song titles, artists, etc is not retained from the previous section. Is there a way to permanently change this time of info in Rhythmbox, or is the another decent Linux music player that has this capability? Btw, I have Gnome.

Now I can't change to a new song or go back to the previous one by using the mouse wheel over the rhythmbox icon in the task bar like I could in the previous release. View 1 Replies View RelatedBoth Banshee and Rhythmbox crash, leaving a segmentation fault in the terminal, after playing a song for less than a second. I do manage to get some sound before they crash. This problem seems to have begun only a couple of days ago after doing an update. Unfortunately I was playing playing around with moving my music collection to an NFS share around the same time as the update so I can't be sure which action it was that broke music playback.
Because both Banshee and Rhythymbox are affected and showing identical behaviour I think the problem is gstreamer. Reinstalling everything I could find in synaptic related to gstreamer had no effect.
Some general information:
- My music collection is in FLAC but other formats seem to cause the same behaviour.
- Music from an NFS share or my external USB drive causes the same behaviour
- VLC plays music from my NFS share without any problems
- Removing ubuntu-one (as suggested in some posts) did not help
- I'm using Ubuntu Desktop 10.10 x86
I've had no luck searching the interwebs for help thus far. Does anyone have any ideas?
Since when did the Rhythmbox notification icon get removed from the panel and merged in with the volume/sound notification icon in gnome?When I started using 10.10 Rythmbox had its own notification icon on the top gnome panel. now i have rebuilt my computer with 10.10 and the icon is gone but the Rythmbox controls are built into the sound notification icon.I did install the updates while the Ubuntu 10.10 install was running (there is an option to download and install update in the OS install wizard).I just want to know if this came down as some kind of update.

The problem is I cannot seem to get it back and it is enabled under the Plugins section of Rhythmbox.
I just noticed that rhythmbox isn't showing the nice libnotify popups on song change. I use the next/prev buttons on my multimedia keyboard, but I can't see what I'm listening to anymore.I can't find the option to enable or disable this feature.how I can resolve this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI made the upgrade to 10.10 the other day, and it's pretty functional. The few problem that keep erking me are as follows: 1. Often when I boot up the gnome-panel is buggy, I run Code:
gnome-panel --replace to fix this, which it does. I'd just like it to look normal at boot up.
2. The GDM (or compiz) doesn't boot up correct all of the time. Every now and then I'll open a program after booting and will have no minimize/restore/exit buttons. I fix this buy just turning compiz on using the compiz-switch icon which I put up in my panel. 3. Why doesn't rhythmbox minimize to the notification area. I like the mini player in sound menu, but I hate that if you want it out of your system tray it has to be closed.
The Rhythmbox package was updated via Yum recently (today for me, out of fedora-updates) and now no longer displays its icon in the notification area. The package for me (Fedora 11 x86-64) is versioned 0.12.3-1. Has anyone else seen this behavior

View 2 Replies View Relatedcompleted the first of my five pending Lucid upgrades a few hours ago, the upgrade progress went real smooth. SoI have been checking various apps to make sure they are working ok after the upgrade, and noticed that Amarok will not show its notification (tray) icon in the usual place after the upgrade. This is a pain because normally one would launch Amarok, select a playlist/album whatever, than close the window and skip tracks whatever using the tray icon. Did a bit of googling and found a bug in launchpad it's because Amarok draws a custom icon instead of passing a bitmap, or something, but cannot locate the bug again now. I then tested Rhythmbox and found the same issue.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for some pointers on a method to "transfer" the song-playing from my laptop to my PC, both running ubuntu. The use case is: I'm home listening to some song on the laptop. Then I realize how crappy the speakers are. Here's what I do *now*:
1. Stop playback on the laptop
2. Get up, go to the PC, open the music player
3. Find the same song
4. Try to find the same point in the song
5. Stop playback on the laptop
6. Start playback on the PC (the PC has good speakers)
Of course now I'm dreaming of having a "button" I push that does all this all by itself. Can anyone give me some pointers?
