View 1 Repliesi have installed opensuse 11.3 on my PC. i want to display pop up message when new mail arrives. For that, i have installed mail-notification 5.4 ( which requires libnotify-0.4.4). while building mail-notification,it shows the following error . "src/mn-evolution-folder-tree-server.gob:26:33: fatal error: mail/mail-component.h: No such file or directory compilation terminated. command failed."
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed the "mail notification" applet from synaptic and I like it best because it monitors multiple email accounts, something I find hard to find. I do have one question though, how do I get it to start up with every gnome session?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't get rid of the "Mail Notification Properties" Window at startup. Every time the system comes up, there is the window for the settings. It's just empty as I don't want any more mail notifications than Thunderbird has.
I looked into the Mail Notification Properties and haven't found any settings to get rid of the window. And I disabled "Mail Notification" in System > Preferences.
Still this window keeps coming back over and over again.
It even survived the upgrade from Karmic to Lucid. How can I get rid of it?
I use the Gnome Mail Notification Applet and have recently moved from a wired desktop machine to a wireless laptop.
The problem I have is that the Mail Notification shows an error because it tries to check mail immediately, the network hasn't finished connecting at this time though.
Is there a way to add a delay to this? I can't see one.
Or if anyone can suggest an alternative that is just as good (or better) and allows for a delay?
anyone knows how to setting email reminder and privacy when sent email.
This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use by or information of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed. If you are not the intended recipient, you are notified that disclosing, copying, distributing or taking any action based on the contents of this information is strictly prohibited. If you have received this email in error or is not the intended recipient, please notify the sender by return email and delete this e-mail (together with any files transmitted with it) immediately. i want this reminder will automatically sent when user sent their email without need to write this reminder. means all email sent by user will display that reminder when email opened
I want to hide or disable the Nautilus Notification Bar/Ribbon, or whatever it is called. (See attached picture) I have looked here, Googled it, looked in the wiki, the Nautilus website, and anywhere else I could think of. Can't figure it out.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded to F11 (from F9) and most things work pretty well. I can't read DVDs or CDs but I see there is another thread open on that, and VMWare-player has a few problems but otherwise I an a reasonably happy camper. The "new mail notification" in Evolution won't play my sound. Other sound apps work OK (mplayer, amarok etc) and I can play the .wav file in question simply by hovering the mouse over it in Nautilus - so I know it's not a general sound problem (and besides - I have followed Silpheed2k's guide here). In the Evolution plugins dialogue the sound file is selected, but the test button doesn't play it and when new mail arrives the other notification methods (pop up message + blinking icon) work just fine. It worked in F9 with the same sound file.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using mail-notification from the repos for ages to monitor my gmail account with no problems. Since I upgraded to Karmic, it's been popping up an irritating dialog window whenever a new mail arrives (as well as the standard notification). how to turn it off without losing all notifications?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have mail-notification installed (using Lucid beta) but for some reason it doesn't send notifications using libnotify, but instead shows a standard gtk pop-up. I have the evolution plugin for mail-notification installed, and in fact the issue is not related to evolution, since I tried setting up mail-notification directly for an IMAP account and got the same ugly pop-up.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've had Mail Notification installed for awhile, but was disappointed by the fact that it tries to check for e-mail before my computer can even establish an internet connection (and then never checks again), forcing me to manually start the program after every boot (an issue others have reported as well).
As a result, I removed the program via Ubuntu Software Center, and tried using cGmail (which I've used before, without issue), only to encounter a bug. I then uninstalled cGmail, and installed Mail Notification again. However, as soon as I started Mail Notification, I noticed that it still had all of my preferences, including my previous e-mail account, saved.
How is this possible? I tried removing it via Ubuntu Software Center, and then again with Synaptic---but still, if I reinstall it, the settings are all still there. I want to completely remove Mail Notification, and all of its settings (even if I decide to eventually install it again), but now am confused as to how to do this.
I have a gmail account. After I installed ubuntu 11.04 cannot use "mail notification" properly. the pop-up windows is like an error in the middle of the screen (instead of the classic and attractive window reside on the right-up screen).
(same problem was in ubuntu 9.04 : [URL])

I have 2 problems:
I'm getting mail that the PC is OK every 3 minutes.
And I don't know what I should config in Service and host .cfg. Sow that I will get a good description of the problem in the mail that Nagios is sending me.
I am using:
Code:
Ubuntu 10.4
2.6.32-21-generic
Evolution 2.83.3
I have noticed that when I get a new email, it never shows a new mail icon in the panel. I had the same problem with 9.10, and I thought the problem would go away when I upgraded to 10.4. I have checked the properties in Mail preferences:
Code:
Play sound - yes
Display a notification - yes
Indicate new messages in panel - yes
I just added my login id to /etc/aliases to forward root's local e-mail to my local e-mail account in evolution.
As always, when I make a change to /etc/aliases, I run newaliases. I now get the following, and root's mail is not showing up in my local mail Inbox:
Code:
Is this correct?
I understand my hostname (i.e., Eng-Lab-010) is not a fully qualified host name, but I never had a problem before. But it appears this not a good thing. What should I do?

In the XP version of Thunderbird, a try icon appears when new mail arrives. I noticed in the Linux version I don't get the tray icon. Is there anyway of getting it to show or is it not available in the Linux version?

View 9 Replies View Relatedso far 10.04 is great.. coming over from Fedora.. liking what I see... however, question..
Is there any way to get the default mail icon in the top right corner to notify of new mail in gmail? I found an app that does it, gmail notifier or something.. but seems redundant to have 2 mail icons when 1 would do the job.. but not sure how I'd configure it. I see that I can set up evolution but.. I've got tens of thousands of messages on gmail, and it would take wayyy too long to download.. I'd rather it just notify me of new mail and open a browser to gmail when I click it or something like that. So, any way of doing this?
I am using Thunderbird 3.1 with minimize to tray extension on Ubuntu 10.04. When I receive a new mail I expect that the Thunderbird icon in the tray becomes a mail icon.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI run Ubuntu with Unity. I see a Mail Notification applet in the tray that announces unread mail (from Evolution) and incoming IMs from Empathy. I uninstalled both programs, and replaced the IM program with Pidgin. (I don't have a preferred email client yet.)
Now Pidgin lets me know whether I have received new email messages from the services it is connected to. These notifications show up in the Buddy List window. Is there a way to get Pidgin to use the Mail Notification applet instead? I read in their site that "Pidgin was not designed to be an email client" but it would seem that all the pieces are in place to reroute those notifications to the mail notification applet.
Optionally, it would also be cool if when I clicked on those notifications, a browser window would open up to the webmail account the notification came from. (I have both Windows Live and Gmail accounts.)
I have nagios server 3.2 and it works fine.I want to know, how know can i send mail notification by alert type?
Or example
How can i achieve this type of notification? Is it possible or not?
The question is pretty much the same as the subject. I have a bunch of debian servers - most of them running exim4 default installations configured as internet site using dpkg-reconfigure exim4-config. It can send mails fine from php scripts and some other applications, but I can't seem to find a way to forward all root mail to some external address. I have tried adding "root: someaddress@example.com" to /etc/aliases and run newaliases command, but it doesn't seem to work.
