View 2 RepliesI installed new version of Choqok 1.0 Beta3 (0.9.90). It works nice, but the notifications for new posts bothers me. With every timeline refresh, system tray notification window pops up informing me for new posts.
How to disable notifications for Choqok? I cannot find option in Choqok. However, I can disable application notifications in system tray options, but in this case some ugly little window pops on the top of the screen informing me for new posts.
I have Ubuntu 10.04 with Gnome. Whenever I put in a blank CD/DVD an icon on the desktop appears named "Blank CD/DVD" and a window appears asking me what I want to do with it. How do I disable the window and the icon from the desktop?
View 2 Replies View Relatedi am using the latest version of Debian Squeeze. everything is up to date but the pidgin program doesn't display the notification icons in the top right corner like it's supposed to, whats the problem here because i don't like to manually check to see who has logged and who has logged off.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI run Ubuntu with Unity. I see a Mail Notification applet in the tray that announces unread mail (from Evolution) and incoming IMs from Empathy. I uninstalled both programs, and replaced the IM program with Pidgin. (I don't have a preferred email client yet.)
Now Pidgin lets me know whether I have received new email messages from the services it is connected to. These notifications show up in the Buddy List window. Is there a way to get Pidgin to use the Mail Notification applet instead? I read in their site that "Pidgin was not designed to be an email client" but it would seem that all the pieces are in place to reroute those notifications to the mail notification applet.
Optionally, it would also be cool if when I clicked on those notifications, a browser window would open up to the webmail account the notification came from. (I have both Windows Live and Gmail accounts.)
Does anybody know how to get back Pidgin original icon(s) in Xubuntu 11.04 Notification area? I need it because I don't like that blue envelope in Indicator plugin, I would like to use it as "old fashion way".
Here is an example how icon looks like when Show system tray icon is selected.
How do I turn off Pidgin notification balloons when a buddy logs on or off? I've looked through the application's preferences like 3 times; is there some sort of system control for notification balloons?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought a Toshiba notebook and I debian install the latest came out, along with programs up there, so good. Install the latest pidgin 2.8 and compile it, that was fine. When I wanted to test the webcam in pidgin, I do not work. Abri a chat window with a user and I get a option name "MEDIA" and displayed the "do called "sending camera" "Start Video Call" but the problem is that they are as dull, does not allow me selected. Surely it is why they are off, but I honestly do not know how to activate or turn them on.

I'm using the Messaging Menu and pidgin, and generally I like how I can get notifications. My biggest gripe is that when I click the close button (not quit) on pidgin instead of quitting the program like it used to it will minimize to the Messaging Menu. Is there some way to disable this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI get a problem when I try to connect to jabber chatroom. I tried to join a chat room in the following way: "Buddies > Add chat...", set the name of existing room (it exactly exists), server and group to what I want to add new chat in my contact list. The room isn't protected by password, therefore I didn't set password. New contact was added to my contact list. But when I try to open chat's window by doubleclick on this contact nothing happens. I also don't watch any error messages in pidgin's debug window while I'm trying to open chat window. Attempt to click on "Join" in contact's context menu or join a chat by "Buddies > Join a chat room..." also don't yield results. I use pidgin v.2.6.1 on Slackware 12.2. What's wrong?

Is there a way to disable all popup notifications in openSUSE while still having it check for updates periodically. What I would like is for the notification icon to appear when an update is available but to not popup the notification message, or worse, show that dialog stating that some software sources were not available when I'm on the corporate network.
Also, is it possible to disable some updates like the recent KDE one? I right click it and there is an option to disable notification of an update but the menu item is disabled.

You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these:

For testing purposes, I'd like to disable windows decoration on my desktop. However, I don't know how to do such a thing, I can't find a parameter for gtk-window-decorator nor emerald that can disable them. I have also tried disabling window decoration in compiz settings but after disabling the check mark for windows decoration it is automatically marked again after a couple of seconds

View 2 Replies View RelatedHow can I disable gnome's behavior of snapping windows to screen bounds or other windows?
When I'm programming in supercollider, I have some GUI windows I can pop up to expose some real-time controls. For maximum use of screen space, some of the blank space at the windows' edges should be "out of bounds." On the Mac, and also when I've used supercollider in puredyne (an Ubuntu derivative for multimedia that uses xfce4 as the window manager), GUI windows are placed at the exact coordinates specified in my code.
But, gnome is "extra helpful" and says, "Oh, that window is going to be out of bounds. You couldn't possibly have meant that. Let me move the window inside the screen bounds for you." Well, actually I DID mean that and I don't want the window manager "correcting mistakes" that I fully intended. So then I have to move the windows by hand, even though my software put them where I wanted them in the first place.
