I created a ISO under DeVeeDee and went to burn it with Brasero (also tried with K3B) and they both came up with error messages.k3b comes up with "Internal error. Short read! Please report" and stops at around 3% and 3-4 minutes into burning. The same error happens under Brasero, it'll stop after a few minutes.

I tried brasero and k3b, but, after burning, I cannot read the disks on my PC or DVD player...
Why can't I burn image with k3b After I' ve tried to burn it it says: "Completed succesfully". But when I then check my DVD, there's absolutely NOTHING on it... and there it says:"0 Objects"It seems like it has only got a new label.And burning an image should else be one of the most easy things in life...And it SEEMS very easy when reading a tutorial.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble burning an iso disc image that I downloaded of the Windows Vista Recovery disc for a friend who cannot boot her computer anymore. I downloaded the iso disc image and it mounts on my computer just fine, so it should be able to be burned as the disc image to a CD no problem. However, each time I right click on the iso file, and go down to Write to Disc, and then the menu comes up and I make sure that the destination drive is my CD/DVD burner drive with a blank CD-R in the drive, it burns the disc, but it always ends up being a CD with the file of the iso on the disc...!! It doesn't burn the image, it burns a copy of the image as a file! I uninstalled the CD/DVD burning software that was on my computer and installed CD/DVD Creator instead from the Ubuntu Software Center.
I tried following the steps on [URL] which tells how to burn a disc image from an ISO file. I follow it exactly, but I still get the same results: I get a disc that is not the image, but has the image on the disc. Now, I can mount the image on the disc on my computer, but that won't do my friend any good who needs to BOOT off this disc to fix her computer running Windows Vista. But ever since I wiped out my computer and went Ubuntu, I haven't been able to write an iso disc image to a CD or DVD properly. Does it matter if it is a CD or a DVD that is used? Like, if I put a DVD in, would the disc iso image burn to the DVD rather than a CD because of the way the image was made? For some reason I never thought it mattered, but does it?

I am new to Linux currently using Lubuntu , Puppy etc . What I did with Lubuntu I downloaded iso image burnt it into a CD and boot from that CD thats it. Apparently Debian has no iso download link. First ISO is a perfect fit for the 4.7GB DVD, the second only is ~400MB. Wondering if there may be any issue if I burn the second one to a CD (which I have plenty). I guess it should be okay, but wanted to double-check.

Since my F11 DVD hasn't arrived yet; I downloaded that ISO ; and figured it'd be a quicker install anyway, since that way I'd avoid having to download all the updates after the DVD install.I have a USB CD-RW drive attached to my laptop, currently running F7. Almost all of the instructions I see for burning a CD image are for Win users and Win software. I did download Brasero and it's acting flaky; it seems to want to unmount my CDRW drive, even when I'm logged in as root; so it doesn't give me that option to burn to that disk.
I found K3B, but that's for KDE and I'm using Gnome -- is there any good CD burning software (with a link please?) I can use?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently tried to burn an ISO image to a DVD. Everything seemed to be going fine except Brasero froze at "Finalizing". It stayed there for about 10 minutes before I gave up. When I hit cancel nothing happened. When I tried to eject the drive nothing happened. Not until I shut the computer down and restarted was I able to open my DVD drive. Upon trying to read the disc no computer shows that it has anything on it.

View 6 Replies View RelatedRunning Ubuntu 10.04 now, and still I can't burn a disc without errors. I had a different computer the last time I was able to burn a CD in Ubuntu. ECS K5S5A Motherboard died, and I acquired another computer, running another brand, similar AMD Athlon motherboard. 1.0 GHz processor instead of the 1.05 GHz Athlon processor , but the is laid out very similar.
Installed 9.04 from a disc burnt on the old computer. Trouble with errors in Brasero, and I upgraded through the Update Manager to 9.10 then to 10.04. I replaced the burner with the one out of my dead computer, that burnt successfully before it died, and I still have errors.

I have been getting this very annoying error while trying to burn DVD-DL media from an iso using growisofs. Here is the command I used (to burn a backup copy of an xbox360 game)

Now, every single time, usually around 50%, I get this error:

I've been searching around and found threads with people complaining about this error since 2005, but not a single one of them presented any solution (some hint to a kernel issue, which I'd have no idea how to fix. I'm a noob at linux).
I also tried burning it using imgburn under wine, same error, also at 50%.
This is very frustrating, Ive burned around 6 coasters so far and DVD-DL are expensive to keep on this trial and error.
p.s It's not faulty media before anyone asks. I tried it on Mac and it worked fine. Also, this drive worked well before, before I migrated this machine.
I can play CDs and DVDs but when I try to burn a music CD I get:
error while burning
an unknown error occurred
when the CD is finalising. As data has been written to the CD, but not finalised, each time I try I use another CD.
I've used Brasero and whatever the default burner in 9.10 is with the same result. If I boot in Win7 I can burn CDs.
I've been trying all week to get mpg to dvd, my dad has a video that is supposed to be aired on television soon and the deadline to have it in is tomorrow. right now i have it as an mpg file and i cannot get it to burn to dvd. I've tried using devede and Gnomebaker, but everytime i put it in the dvd player it says disc error.

I recently switched distributions, I let a guy talk me into switching from Ubuntu 8.04 to Mint 9. Since the switch, I have had a lot of issues that I have mainly worked out myself. I have posted all of it on the Mint forum, but there hasn't been much help available there. I have been told that Mint 9 is based on the newest release of Ubuntu (Lucid Lynx), so I thought I would post over here to see if anyone could help me. The only thing that's still giving me fits are the 3 software programs above. Using k9copy and trying to burn directly to disc, I am getting the error that I took the screenshot of. I then burned it as an iso image and saved it, then tried to use k3b and brasero to burn it that way and got errors with both of those programs.

Okay, so bear with me for the lack of detail, its 3:46am and I'm really a beginner at this. So here is my issue: I decided I wanted to try Linux, so i got a Disc Image of Opensuse 11.3. while burning this disc image to a DVD-R I had no issues. But after the Validation was done an error appeared stating the disc Image was not burnt due to some error (apologies for not paying too close attention here) although the entire burn completed without issue. So I closed it and figured I would try again with another Disk when i get one.
Well as it turns out I did burn the Disc Image, and decided to try the Install. I have previously installed Ubuntu a few times and figured it was just as easy.. so I restarted my computer and booted from the CD. went through the Installation up to the Partition part.. This kind of confused me at first but I eventually got that it wanted to shrink my existing windows partition in order to make room. so i went along with it and began the install. well about halfway through the installation error messages kept showing telling me there were missing Packs. after about 10 messages I aborted the install for fear of what would happen now i have a shrunken partition and i dont know how to fix or what to do. I would still like to install opensuse but i dont have anymore DVD-R's and my Flash drive is too small. I will try to provide any info i can upon request. Oh, I forgot to mention im Running windows 7. if that helps at all which I doubt it does. I can safely access windows, nothing happened to the information on my drive. Im just missing 50GB of space now.
I have wordpress server running on my machine and I have SELinux enabled for enforcing/targeted. I am unable to insert images, music, etc from the add new post field on the wordpress dashboard. I receive the following error:
image.jpg has failed to upload due to an error The uploaded file could not be moved to /var/www/html/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/10. When I disable SELinux completely, it works fine. Does anyone know what Boolean I need to check to resolve this issue?
It seems I can't burn any kind of disc (cd/dvd, audio/video/data) usgin my internal sata burner (sr0). I treied googling around and reinstalling everything from dvd+rw-tools up but the error is still there. the burner works fine with windows on the very same pc (dual boot). I tried different media and different speeds. when using an usb burner everything's fine...

Greetings from Greece. I tried to install opensuse 11.3 in an empty disk . Unfortunately the installation progress stops in 88% and the message error says "error copy live image to the disk". I have burn two different cd but the result is always the same.Is it a hardware problem or the cd is not correct?I had the 11.2 version in the same pc without any problem for a long time.
