This is probably a really simple fix but tbh since I installed unity I'm stumped.
I didnt like the unity desktop so I've gone back to the classic desktop but I have no bar above my windows with the max/min/close option.
To add to that issue, sometimes windows open with their menus under the panel at the top of the screen so there is no way to move or close them
After the last daily update using 9-10, I have lost sight of my Min, Max & Close icons to all programs
How do I get these icons back & not have it happen again.
I recently lost my Min Max and close buttons on pretty much every window. This seemed to start when I upgraded to 10.10. I did what was told in another thread on missing task bars. I managed to get them all back except on Firefox. I tried the preferences, double clicking up there, right clicking.

After a little search i found that in terminal if i type metacity --replace it would come back.And that it did.However, everytime i reboot i need to do it again.Starting to get a little annoying now.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using 10.04 for a few months here and installed the truglass 0.5 theme for quite some time. I've been putting up with one downfall of it, which is on certain windows the min/max/close buttons do not show. I can hover over where they should be to actually use them, but they are not visible on all windows. They always come up with firefox, unless I hit a pop-up and a new window comes up. Any nautilus window doesn't have them unless focus on that window is lost. Any ideas on how I can solve this? See attached screenshot.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm having issues getting apache to respond to requests outside of my local LAN. If I goto my server [URL].. it says connecting... but never finishes and returns anything. I'm using Ubuntu Server 10.10.
a) The DNS is working fine. It's pointed to my cable modem's IP and ping responds fine.
b) The apache server is setup and is working locally. In fact, if I use w3m and goto [URL]..I reach the test page perfectly. I can't figure out where the missing piece is to close this gap. Here are some config files to illustrate my setup:

I have installed recently a bunch of distros and settled with xubuntu 11.04 for my old laptop. Everything worked fine out of the box except some times wireless stopped working and the pc needed a restart. One of those times i restarted and because restart seemed unresponsive I clicked again but a problem tab poped up. Every time that i clicked restart, the pop up appeard I was forced to force shutdown.
1. Maximize/Minimize/Close buttons are completly missing. Even windows settings (where you can unjust those buttons) does not work. It is blank.
2. Cursor is invisible but when i click something appears , stays visible but the cursor is a different icon than before.
3. other problems as well. I cannot move terminal etc.
I just had an update and after that it required a reboot. When I logged on the system there was no CLOSE, MINIMIZE, MAXIMIZE buttons on windows!

"sudo ./setup_sdcard.sh --mmc /dev/sdX --uboot beagle"
It gives me a error sayings Dependencies are missing.
"Missing pv.Your System is Missing some dependencies
Ubuntu/Debian: sudo apt-get install uboot-mkimage wget pv dosfstools btrfs-tools parted"
And when I enter the that above in terminal I get the following error.
Unable to locate PV.
How to properly integrate these RPMs into our system?
Option 1: we could take those missing OS RPMs and install them?
Option 2: can we package the missing files from missing OS RPMs into the existing Linux-xxx.rpm?
With 10.10 rhythmbox is integrated in the sound applet, but how can I close it without going to the file menu?

I open documents folder then open a folder that's in documents then open a folder that's in the 2nd folder, if I want to close any of those folders it closes all of them. I know I can right click on a folder and select open in a new window which I then can close without closing all folders,is there a setting that let's you always open folders in a new window by double clicking on the folder?

The bar with the close, minimize and ( fill screen botton, what ever ) is gone! I'm not quite sure what I did.. I enabled the Cube in compiz, and the wobbily windows, and then the bar dissapeared. There are real issues I'm having with network-Manager stopping and not starting when i go into suspend. it's a major hasle therefore I want to prevent any suspend or hibernate.
How do i do it so closing the lip just closes the lid and nothing else?

I can continue playing but i'm basically trap in the application. Is there any keyboard command i can use to force quiting the application? Or any other idea on how to proceed? View 2 Replies View RelatedIf I Ctl-W, it sometimes closes a tab and other times it has no effect. This relates to browser windows. If I select the command from the menu in FF, it always works and then the next Ctl-W works. The first Ctl-W closes a tab too. There is no obvious pattern, sometimes a sequence of Ctl-Ws will close a series of tabs.
Tried a new keyboard, but that didn't make any difference. Other browsers, even in a VMware window running Win 7, shows the same behavior. However, once a long sequence of tabs were closed without any problem with Safari in Win 7.
I need to close my session but the exit button is no longer here. I can restart the computer (ctrl+alt_del), but not only the session. I opened a session with the gnome desktop but everytime is messed up and I want to come back to the UNE desktop. How can I do that from a terminal?
