Software :: Toolbar Buttons Missing (but Fixed) In Openoffice?

In Slackware 13.1, my OpenOffice menu buttons did not appear after installing the Slackbuild from slackbuild.org. I think this is a common issue. After reading around, I putCode:export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=kdeinto my /etc/profile. OpenOffice now opens fine and all the menu button icons are present and correct but this only happens if I start OO from the CLI. This is fine for me but other users of this system will use the kicker menu. The problem is that this starts OpenOffice with no toolbar buttons.Code:exportOOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=kdeto my menu buttons
Window buttons in the Fluxbox panel have dynamic width depending on the open windows' amount. Is it possible to make their width like in Gnome so that the buttons will have maximum width (but no minimum)?
This problem has been bothering me for quite a while. Here is how my nautilus toolbar looks like:As you can see, only Back and Forward buttons are labeled. I hope I can remove these labels to save my screen estate, but I can't find any possible option in Edit -> Preferences after careful review.
Since I've switched to 10.10 NBR the date has gone missing from the toolbar at the top. Everything is fine when I click the time, I still get the calendar and everything. They probably just moved it away to save space up there but I appreciate always having the date easily visible.I've searched through all the personalization options, but I can't seem to figure out how to have the date still showing right next to the time like it used to.
I had Ubuntu installed. I partitioned my drive and installed Windows 7. After that grub was missing. Following the directions I was able to fix that problem.Now when Ubunutu 10.10 loads up it says failed to find /home wait or press S/M to skip or fix.I went ahead and hit M... I'm not sure how to fix the /home problem. I know /home is on it's own partition, but I'm not sure how to fix it
I just upgraded from fc11 to fc12 with a great deal of trouble...finally am partially functional. The problem really bugging me is the missing claws-mail toolbar that shows "tools", addressbook, encrypt/decrypt, and especially the ability to load plugins, and set all preferences. I have tried uninstalling & reinstalling but nothing provides the toolbar I need. Yum does not provide anything new either. As most of my important passwords are encrypted, and I need the claws pgp plugin to be loaded.
I have been working for the last three months with Ubuntu 10 on a destop. Doing just fine and loving it. I decided to try a new position for the toolbar that sits at the top of the screen. I did a right click and moved it to the right side of the scree, didn't like the look of that. Right click on the bar and moved it to the left, didn't like that either, so moved it to the bottom. having done all that I thought I could put it back at the top but alas, I can not right click on the Toolbar.
It seems as though the two bars are fighting each other at the bottom of the screen.I would like to go back to the default position at the top of the screen. I do have a terminal window available to me on the desktop so if I could find out the command line to type in, I should be able to reset my tool bar. Being new I have no idea what this command would be.
when I boot up ubuntu, the suspend and hibernate buttons will be missing and the alsa stuff wont work. When I select shutdown or restart or log out from the power menu ( the one that's missing the 2 buttons) it only logs off the user. I've tried reinstalling the kernel and updating grub for a solution to no avail. The only way to shutdown the system when this occurs is through a sudo halt command in terminal. I may have to use the command a few times until the computer will boot with sound and all of the suspend/hibernate buttons in place.
After a week or so i noticed that the title bar (the one with the minimise and close buttons) is missing. After a little search i found that in terminal if i type metacity --replace it would come back.And that it did.However, everytime i reboot i need to do it again.Starting to get a little annoying now.

Command works to restore my buttons but I've got a couple problems 1. I have to leave this terminal open permanently. If I try to close it (and "kill" the process) not only do I lose my windows controls but my keyboard stops working entirely. 2. Have to put this in every time I log back in.
Is there a better solution for restoring my windows control buttons (i.e., one that doesn't require me to open a terminal every time I log in?)
About a month ago I upgraded from Lenny to Squeeze and everything seemed fineBut sometime between then and now I lost the maximize and close buttons (I still have the minimize)This is only a minor annoyance for me but a major one for my wife.I searched the web and some other forums but have found no help.
I've been using 10.04 for a few months here and installed the truglass 0.5 theme for quite some time. I've been putting up with one downfall of it, which is on certain windows the min/max/close buttons do not show. I can hover over where they should be to actually use them, but they are not visible on all windows. They always come up with firefox, unless I hit a pop-up and a new window comes up. Any nautilus window doesn't have them unless focus on that window is lost. Any ideas on how I can solve this? See attached screenshot.
I have been experiencing a random issue on Ubuntu 10.04 for awhile now.The issue is that some times when I start my PC into Ubuntu the bar (Title bar) with the 'Min, Max,Close' buttons are missing from all the various display windows, e.g Nautilius, including Firefox. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, how did you resolve it? Do I need to log an issue for this. If so what info about my system do i need to supply?
As title states, they are missing, and from every window. I have googled this and found fixes but in doing some of the "fixes" the bar at the top of the screen disappears and docky becomes effectless.
I had been running the official build from the OOo Web site. I've deleted that and now want to install the version from the Fedora repos. yum install openoffice.org* yum's response: No package openoffice.org* available. Error: Nothing to do Then I tried to be more explicit:
In Windows and Ubuntu, OpenOffice.org (2.4 and 3), there is an auto replace tab available at Tools > AutoCorrect. That is what automatically fixes spelling mistakes like teh, and lets me set my own codes for replacements I need to use. In Fedora, this tab is missing. Anyone know how I can get it back?
I'm using openSUSE 11.2 x86_64 and I've installed OpenOffice.org 3.2.0 from Index of /repositories/OpenOffice.org:/STABLE/openSUSE_11.2 . However, the menu option Tools->Macros->Record Macro is missing (it is present in the official build of OpenOffice.org for windows and the one distributed in archlinux). Is this a bug? I've searched the Novell bugzilla for resolved and open bugs for this, but I've found nothing.
Good day, having a spot of bother with Openoffice, for some unknown reason im finding majority of the menu & button names have been replaced with "O" characters instead. Its doesn't effect all, but for example in the Writer, the only drop down menu at the top being render correctly is "Table". code... All the buttons/sub buttons still work if you can guess where their pointing!
The only way I can seem to solve it is to remove "openoffice.org-gnome" & "openoffice.org-gtk" package.
Ive tried a complete reinstall already. Its usable without the above gnome and gtk extras but obviously not as nice to look at.
Im sure it was working fine the last time I used it?
I'm trying to print a spreadsheet from Openoffice 3.0.1 (Xubuntu 9.04), I'd like to use the A3 pagesize but the Print dialog shows only A4 and Letter.. Other applications work fine.

I have an nfs share that mounts automatically when kde starts.

Gimp works fine editing and saving photos from/to the nfs share. kWrite can do its thing and read/create files on the NAS. Files I create with vim are visible and editable under windows. OpenOffice however, when I try an open a file I get "file is locked by unknown user." I open as copy and try saving to the share with a different name... No Dice, error saving to share the file is created on the share but it is empty. I did some reading and found a post that said to comment a line from a file called soffice, which I cannot find.

I've been asked to create a Linux build which will contain open source vmview. Simple enough, but I would like to have this deployed onto different desktops from an imaging server using multicasting, we use Symantec Solution Suite 2.5 therefore the smaller the image the better for us. I would also like the image to be fully manageable i.e log in and add / remove apps etc but all it will need is a user account, a root account, web browser, rdesktop and vmware view open client.
I have gone down two routes:
1. There are Live-CD's out there that can do the important things that I want which is to use vmware view and I do like the fact that it is compatible with all our current hardware so I am happy to use this for the time being but I hate the fact that we have to boot it from CD as we have quite a few PCs in the room. I would like to convert the distro to boot from HDD exactly as you would from a CD but cannot seem to find a solution to this.
2. I have created a Debian and a OpenSuse build which does exactly what I want albeit taking a bit more disk space than I would like, but my issue is how do I capture and deploy this to different hardware as our imaging server only does cloning.
I haved "yum install"ed a few fixed fonts, e.g. bitmap-fixed-fonts, but they do not show up in the xlsfonts listing, and hence, I assume, for the same reason "xterm -fn 9x15" complains that the 9x15 font is not found. The fonts are delivered as pcf files. I have followed some directions on the net, but have not been successful at having the pcf font files integrated into the Fedora 14 font system.
