I am getting an error when i generat a report with squid's report generator ( sarg )is there a tool or way that i can find where in the log file the error is, the log file is 61442 lines, and it's gonna take me forever to find the error,
I have collected the sa* and sar* files for the past two weeks , i need to generate the report for these files how can i do so i am using centos 5.5. assist me with a tool or a command to do the same.
I got the following task from my boss. I have to find out if there is some alternative tool for create reports from Squid except SARG. Now, we use SARG, but my boss told to me, that the main problem of SARG is, that SARG generate huge amount files, which cause problems during migration our servers. He told to me the following condition for change of current tool (SARG):
* standard package of Debian * generate less amount of files, optimal is to save reports to the database
So I would like to ask you if you know about some tool (I can not find some by google)... and the best would be if you told to me some practical experiences.
i have just install Sarg-2.2.3.1.tar.gz but When finished compiled i cannot see sarg.conf (in directory /etc/.. or /etc/httpd/conf.d). May i know where is it.?? I'm not sure compiler which it's work good or not good. Some logs show in here:
I have an existing Nagios installation from before I started working here. It seems to be working well but my boss has just asked for a report of what servers and the associated processes/functions are being monitored. Is there any way to generate this report other than going through all the Nagios configuration files and putting it together manually?
When I'm not connected with the LAN, I have no problem, but when I'm connected the PC frozen in the first boot. Maybe is something related with Firefox, or some specific site (I think gmail). I have many tabs opened, then when I start Firefox they all opened. The first thing I do is read my emails, so I access gmail.
I'm not sure if it is related with Firefox or Gmail. I'll do some tests, like: 1- start the PC and don't use Firefox in the first minutes. 2- start Firefox and don't access gmail
What I think it is interesting is that it only happens once. Well, this is a good thing. There's also an exclamation sign in the Ubuntu tool bar saying "Crashing report detected"
Encountering several problems with ubuntu. I have managed to burn iso to cd - I decided to bot ubuntu off the cd, I have been struggling with a couple of problems all to no avail. I have heard ubuntu is pretty damn good, and I was quite enthusiastic about it. But if I can't get this sorted...
Oh I should also say I have never used a command line and I have not a clue about xorg or whatever you call it.
anyway my first problem is Display settings. I can go to System > Preferences > Display, and the largest I can set my resolution to is 800*640 and the monitor is unknown...?
Problem number 2 - the ubuntu software centre is not working... Applications > USC > Could not launch Ubuntu Software Centre..
Problem 3 - In the bar at the top of the screen beside time and date etc, "Crash report detected" keeps popping up?
Problem 4 my @ and " keys have swapped places??? also my Pounds sign (I live in UK) has been replaced with # while # has been replaced with
I have been working for a couple of hours on it but nothing makes the slightest bit of difference. I will probably have some more problems soon to be honest - but your help with the above problems would be honestly fantastic.
edit: Yea I cant install flash player to watch videos on .....?
Applications > Acessories > Terminal will not bring anything up anyway!
it's not a real bug/error in Ubuntu per se, but i found an error in the spanish language pack of Ubuntu. There were some words that weren't translated right.I was wondering how to report/change that.I actually found it in the Ubuntu 9.10 spanish language pack, so i don't know if it's been fixed for lucid, but i thought it would be good to know either way just in case i find some other translation errors.
Logwatch has been showing me there is kernal errors present on my server.Below is the full report from logwatch, please let me know if there is anything I should be aware of and fix.

if I replace bm by ~/Bureau/bonnmotion-1.4/bin/bm , I get This error msg : Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: edu/bonn/cs/iv/bonnmotion/run/BM Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: edu.bonn.cs.iv.bonnmotion.run.BM at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:217) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:205) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:321) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:294) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:266) Plsss any idea on how to resolve this?
I've been trying to make sense out of this error report. I get it every once in a while on startup of my machine.
Code: Summary: SELinux is preventing /usr/sbin/ntpd access to a leaked netlink_route_socket file descriptor.
Detailed Description: [ntpd has a permissive type (ntpd_t). This access was not denied.] SELinux denied access requested by the ntpd command. It looks like this is either a leaked descriptor or ntpd output was redirected to a file it is not allowed to access. Leaks usually can be ignored since SELinux is just closing the leak and reporting the error. The application does not use the descriptor, so it will run properly. If this is a redirection, you will not get output in the netlink_route_socket. You should generate a bugzilla on selinux-policy, and it will get routed to the appropriate package. You can safely ignore this avc.
Allowing Access: You can generate a local policy module to allow this access - see FAQ [URL]

Firefox 3.1 beta 3 won't load. When I open the application, the little bouncy icon bounces, and the task manager shows "Firefox Web Browser", but this only stays this way for about 15 seconds then just goes away. No error or anything.
I've had this identical problem when I try to open certain programs with Wine too. Is there some place I can find a detailed error report on these failures?
I ahve configured MRTG to generate bandwidth utilization graphs of Network devices.
I ahve configured 30 Network device ( Cisco Switches and Routers), For most of the devices MRTG is working fine but for some devices it is not able to generate log file and giving the following error:
I need to flash my BIOS to get rid of an error: "Intel uCode loading error". On [URL] I have found a tutorial, that looks to be fine. I can even see in the comments, that somebody have done this with success from Ubuntu 9.04, the very same system, that I use. Nevertheless I cannot make this bootCD with my Ubuntu 9.04, as it doesn't know the loop option to mount the image.
In the tutorial it says: "Requirements for this step is that you have support for the vfat and loop file systems in the kernel. Or you can have those features compiled as modules. In the latter case you can load the modules before the next step, like this:
modprobe vfat modprobe loop"
loop doesn't seem to be present in my system, and the command modprobe loop returns an error that the module is not available. I tried to follow the tutorial anyway, but with no success. How can I get the module lopp? I also want to use it to make iso images bootsble from the harddisk.
I have a requirement to check the following conditions..If my folders are not A and B then list files in the directory else no listing the filesso my if loop is some thing like this.
Code: if [ $dirName = "C" && $dirName != "A" && != "B" ] then ls -la
I've got a 'nested' for loop which has a grep in it, if the grep fails there's no output - however the error code is still $0 and the second for loop is still entered, there's also a grep in the second for loop.I guess ultimately what i need to know is whether there's a way of making grep generate an error code. when no results are found?
My problem is that I am unable to do a routine upgrade of packages. When I try to perform an upgrade, the following occurs:
Code:
$ sudo aptitude dist-upgrade Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree
[code]....
If I try to install another package, I get the following message:
Code:
E: I wasn't able to locate file for the tzdata-java package. This might mean you need to manually fix this package. E: I wasn't able to locate file for the tzdata-java package. This might mean you need to manually fix this package. E: Internal error: couldn't generate list of packages to download
When I shutdown, I have a black screen with a message of I/O error, loop device... And the computer doesn't complete to shut down. This problem appear since I upgrade to ubuntu 9.10.
recently my HP Pavilion's Western Digital (WD2500JS) HDD has begun failing (bluescreens, slow, etc...). I was able to attach it to another computer using a IDE to USB adapter and save my personal files (pics, music, etc...), so the drive has not yet completely died. So I bought a SATA Seagate Barracuda 500GB HDD and wanted to use my restore discs that HP made me purchase off of them to reinstall my Windows Vista Home Premium Edition, which OF COURSE didn't work. So after researching a bit I found the best idea would be to make and Image copy of the original HDD and put it on the new one. So I tried using Clonezilla which ran in an endless loop giving error after error for hours while trying to image the disk. Fortunately my work has a ImageMASSter 4004i which is a piece of hardware that does a direct, drive to drive image from the Master drive to the destination drive.
But unfortunately this didn't work either. It was telling me that their was an error within the destination drive, something like "0x84 URMWT Sequencer failed to complete". Does the drive need to be completely empty?Should I reformat it before I try this (if so which FS?)? I plugged it into my laptop with USB to SATA adapter and was unable to mount it (this was after I had it in the Imaging Hardware Device, not sure if that could have screwed something up). The strange thing is that the last couple of days the new drive did work, I was using it for temporary storage of some files.
I'd like to mount an iso file ,however, it failed as following: ljk@ljk-laptop:~/Test$ modinfo loop ERROR: modinfo: could not find module loop what I can do?
I have written the following script in my linux server to add users for LDAP database. But i can't able to run this.
The script is as following
#!/bin/bash echo "Mention the username which you want to convert LDIF format" read username if ["$username" -e "/ldiffile/passwd"]; then echo "Username already exists" else cat /etc/passwd | grep -i "$username" >> /ldiffile/passwd fi The output which i got : . ldapadd.sh Mention the username which you want to convert LDIF format yal2361 -bash: [yal2361: command not found
SARG seems ok but it is not generating any reports.... "Now generating Sarg report from Squid log file /var/log/squid/access.log squid and all rotated versions .... Sarg finished, but no report was generated. See the output above for details. There is also no view generated reports too.
