Ubuntu :: Mount Iso File - ERROR: Modinfo: Could Not Find Module Loop
Dec 4, 2010
I'd like to mount an iso file ,however, it failed as following: ljk@ljk-laptop:~/Test$ modinfo loop ERROR: modinfo: could not find module loop what I can do?
I need to flash my BIOS to get rid of an error: "Intel uCode loading error". On [URL] I have found a tutorial, that looks to be fine. I can even see in the comments, that somebody have done this with success from Ubuntu 9.04, the very same system, that I use. Nevertheless I cannot make this bootCD with my Ubuntu 9.04, as it doesn't know the loop option to mount the image.
In the tutorial it says: "Requirements for this step is that you have support for the vfat and loop file systems in the kernel. Or you can have those features compiled as modules. In the latter case you can load the modules before the next step, like this:
modprobe vfat modprobe loop"
loop doesn't seem to be present in my system, and the command modprobe loop returns an error that the module is not available. I tried to follow the tutorial anyway, but with no success. How can I get the module lopp? I also want to use it to make iso images bootsble from the harddisk.
Used to work perfectly. I attempted to install VPN client, result is can't connect to anything. Networks are seen by network manager, nothing happens when click connect. Results below:
Wireless LAN present in Hardware information. Atheros AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter (wlan0) Kernel Driver: ath5k 168c:001c /var/log/boot.msg
[code]....
Advice is to use output of dmesg command to find problem, but as above I don't get any results for this in terminal.
attempt to ping external site linux-cfi6:~ # ping -c 66.70.73.150 Usage: ping [-LRUbdfnqrvVaA] [-c count] [-i interval] [-w deadline]
I followed the steps in the wiki shown here: [URL] But when I try to mount an ntfs drive I get an error insisting the fuse module isn't installed. I try to modprobe fuse and it says there is no fuse module.
Yum confirms that : Package fuse-2.7.4-1.el5.rf.i386 already installed and latest version Package fuse-ntfs-3g-2009.4.4-2.el5.rf.i386 already installed and latest version Package dkms-2.0.20.4-1.el5.rf.noarch already installed and latest version Package dkms-fuse-2.7.4-1.nodist.rf.noarch already installed and latest version Package kernel-xen-devel-2.6.18-128.1.10.el5.i686 already installed and latest version
nits@nits-desktop:/mnt/Storage/Tors/Incomp$ btdownloadcurses --check_hashes 1 filename.torrent /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/BitTorrent/Storage.py:4: DeprecationWarning: the sha module is deprecated; use the hashlib module instead from sha import sha
These errors occurred during execution:
[09:37:48] IOError - [Errno 5] Input/output error
Got this error when I tried hash checking, was downloading the file using rtorrent when there was a sudden powercut and my system shutdown abruptly, tried restarting the torrent and kept encountering problems while restarting.
When i install the Authen:Pam module it gives me the same error that i get when i install cyrus sasl2 . So it basically looks like u have to fix the perl module error first how can
I am trying to create a self extracting file for Windows from Ubuntu 10.04 using 7zip.
I tried these commands:
7zr -sfx7z.sfx a output.exe *.txt 7zr -sfx/usr/local/etc/7z.sfx a output.exe *.txt
Both show this error:
Error: can't find specified sfx module
System error: E_FAIL
I have all the .sfx modules on /home/username/.sfx/ because I use them previously with "rar" and it worked fine, but it's not working for 7zip. I also copied 7z.sfx to /usr/local/etc/ to test the second command like shown here but I get the same error.
Can someone tell me how to correct the "Invalid module format"? I hope that correcting the "Invalid module format" error, I will not have the "Unknown symbol in module" error.
Note: I am using wlan1 for this module as I previously am online with the wlan0 network. The same error occurs if I use ./wlan0up.
I've been unable to boot into x using the real-time kernel from CCRMA at home. I get the error "Failed to load module "nvidia" (module-specific error,0) no drivers available. I'm using the driver from Nvidia. I know that this is not an official Fedora kernel and I should be bothering CCRMA about this, but in the mean time could I edit the entry in grub.conf so that it will use the Nouveau driver for that kernel only? That way I could "dual-boot", and just use the rt kernel when I want to use audio software and don't need 3d graphics.
We make everyday a DB Mysql backup on Linux redhat Enterprise. We are using a bash shell script (and putting it in the crontab) to execute it automatically everyday. We added a line to this script telling, once the backup has completed, to find old backup files (stored on hard disk after each backup) older than x days to remove them. We use the find command (search for file type) with the mtime option and in combination with rm command. Everything runs ok but we also want to add some new code to the same line: If find command cannot find anything or fails, for example if it cannot delete file or fails, send the error message (standard error output) to an error file (like error000001 and increasing) and mail the errorxxxx file to an email address for example to admin@companyname.com. What would be the code for this issue to add it to our find command in the same bash shell script??
how to rectify these errors.. I have a large NFS share with a variety of software ISOs on it. I've only tried this on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, but when trying to do the following, the mount comes back with an error indicating no permissions to mount. Why would this be happening?NFS is mounted thusly:mediaserver:path/to/isos /media/nfsThis is the mount call that failsmount -o loop /media/nfs/product.iso /tmp/productIf I copy the ISO, there is no issue. The NFS share is mounted rw.How can I loop mount the ISO from the NFS share without copying it first?
I have a server hosting 100+ websites. I need to quickly identify which websites are configured with a database. There are way too many to manually check every website for a PHP file with a database name. So, I created a list of all databases from MySQL and put them in a text file. I then exported the text file to a shell variable and used it in a for loop.
bash variable
Code: DBLIST=`cat dblist.txt` Example of $DBLIST
Code: db1 db_testing2 database_clientname production words4cheap for loop
Code: for db in $DBLIST; do find . -type "f" -iname "*.php" -exec grep -i $db '{}' ; -print; done Note: my find statement starts searching at . which is the directory that contains all of my websites and their data, each website is setup in a sub directory, identified by it's domain name.
Example: I'm in /var/www. Beneath /var/www are a list of directories:
[URL]
However, this is taking too long (it's been running most of the day) and I was wondering if there wasn't an easier way to accomplish what I'm trying to achieve?
I'm trying to create new RAM image file to get my server load raid1 module upon start, I was following redhat documentation & it suggested to use the following command mkinited --with=raid1 inited-raid1-$(uname -r).img $(uname -r) However after running this command I'm getting this message No Kernel available for 'inited-2.6.18-128.el5"
I have a doubt, suppose i have a module having different versions.I have installed one of these module, now i want to check module info of installed module, Is there any way to check it
I'm having a problem accessing files via nfs where an iso has been mounted through the loop device on the nfs server. Basically what I am attempting to do is access the 6 CentOS 5.2 ISO's via NFS from one of my client machines. The client is able to mount the share and see its sub directories leading up to the mount point of the ISO, but the contents of the mounted ISO image are simply not visible (on the client, they are visible on the server).
modinfo -l shows a ton of different video drivers, from matrox to ATI. Are all these drivers currently loaded my kernel, and is it ok to disable all but nvidiafb (since my system if 100% nvidia)?
I am interested in using fortran and an external library called matio used to save arrays to matlab .mat files. I have installed the matio and matio-dev packages from synaptics but i cannot compile a code receiving an error Code: christos@christos-laptop:~/Desktop$ gfortran -o test test.f90 -lmatio -lz test.f90:2.13: USE MATIO 1
Fatal Error: Can't open module file 'matio.mod' for reading at (1): No such file or directory How can i load a module in order to use it in fortran through the GCC compiler?
i installed firefox 4 and removed the old 3.X version. did a general update that my computer showed me was available then i noticed the first problem. firefox 4 would not launch when i clicked it, it would only launch when i clicked the gnome 3 applications button and then clicked and dragged the firefox logo to the desktop, then it opened. the second problem i am now having which at the moment is more bothersome is that after i closed the lid to my laptop and opened it up again after a while and logged back in and noticed that the ENTIRE gnome 3 environment was gone. no panel no menu nothing just the desktop and a few desktop icons. i tried the command "yum install gnome-shell" but it just sed that gnome 2.31.5-7 .fc14.i686 was already installed so it wasnt gonna do anything, then i tried the "gnome-shell --replace" command and it just said
failed to load "canberra-gtk-module": libcanberra-gtk-module no such file or directory.
I have been comileing that kinect hack with the 3d video capture. i did everything, calibrated cameras and everything else but when i try to open the final program (KinectViewer) i get back this error: Caught exception Misc::File: Error opening file CameraCalibrationMatrices-B00363201643043B.dat in mode rb. From what ive gathered off the web it is not opening it because its in binaly mode or something to that affect. any tips to fix it? is there a way to change what mode im in?
Iv installed ubuntu 10.10 onto a usb 4gb pen. EVerything works fine. However I then wanted to encrypt the USB using truecrypt inside ubuntu and got an error message telling me it could not find some file. I then installed virtualbox onto the ubuntu this installed fine,i then installed windows xp and after completion clicked save the state. I then restarted ubuntu and when it loaded up again the virtualbox and windows xp had been deleted. Iv tried this twice just to make sure but same thing both times.
Okay, so on occasion when I boot into ubuntu I get this error
[mount: mounting /dev /root/dev failed: no such file or directory] [mount: mounting /dev /root/sys failed: no such file or directory] [mount: mounting /dev /root/proc failed: no such file or directory]
[code]...
I get the error when I open any of the kernel versions or any recovery mode. Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop is the only OS installed on the computer, which is a Lenovo S10-3. I can eventually get it to go away, sometimes by repeatedly unplugging it and plugging it back in, and sometimes I will boot into GParted, do nothing, then restart and it will work.I have found some solutions online, but all of them involve the error happening as a result of dual booting with Windows.I have made no major system changes recently, so I can't see anything like that being the problem.
