so its my first time installing postfix. install is complete i think i did the conf file correct. heres the issue: i can connect send and recieve email on the localhost machine. however outside through my domain or even localy from another machine I cannot access my email. And this is strange. 174.132.240.146 seems to be the web address 'net.net'. I am sure this has to be some setting in postfix, cuz its trying to deliver the email to 'fidelix@net', and that cant be right.

I have just built a new postifx open relay server to allow my ISP clients to send emails. During testing of the SMPT protocol, I can managed to send emails to my localhost however, I can't send emails to other external mail server. Below is a test to a yahoo account. I have an application that uses a telnet console, and I have an autostart script to start it (and check that it is running).The problem is that if the program is not startet by root, or by using sudo, I cant get access to the telnet console, it just says "connection refused".The application works fine, but I cant acces its console, so I have to shut it down, and then restart it with sudo to be able to log in to it.Anyone know how to make the script start the application with enough rights?

My PHP scripts can send email, but when I tried to log into Squirrelmail, I couldn't. Here is what my error log produced (the server name and user name have been changed) :

I'm trying to figure out how to access the local part and the domain part of an email address in postfix's main.cf. For example, myname@mydomain.net has myname as the local part and mydomain.net as the domain part.I get the whole email address with %s. I want to speed up the lookups by writing better database queries.I've had no luck finding this in the otherwise well documented postfix.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to access all PCs in our LAN via ssh from our server in order to do some maintenance. All of them have Ubuntu or Kubuntu Lucid Lynx. Some of the PCs allow this access with no problems, but most of them not. They just answer "Connection refused". I realized that these PCs don't start sshd at startup. If I type "sudo service ssh start" manually in these PCs then sshd starts and all works. But I need it to be started automatically.
I tried some workarounds to solve with no success. I always tried to run a script at startup that could start ssh. If I write a script with this single command inside (service ssh start) and execute it as root, it doesn't work! It doesn't start ssh. But if I execute the same command directly in the command line, it works. I don't understand this behaviour. Also I don't understant why it doesn't happen to ALL the computers. Some of them start ssh at startup with no problems.
I have an email setup where all of the emails from our email host is downloaded to our Linux server using Fetchmail. Then some of the incoming emails are sent to an MS exchange server (server1.domain.com) using Postfix. What i want to do is to send a copy of all emails to Another server (server2.domain.com) for redundancy.Can postfix be configured to send copies out to both?

I tried to finally set-up surround sound on my Ubuntu 10.04 machine and i was successful in doing so after a while of changing settings and tinkering. After doing so though, i was later in the day not able to get into the Pulseaudio Volume Control, therefore, everything is stuck where it is and i can't change anything. When i try to open Pulseaudio Volume Control i get the error message, Connection failed, Connection refused. My programs still play sound and i can control the sound of the programs through the programs, but i cant control the sound of the sorround sound now and my main sound bar only affects my stereo speakers, not the surround ones.
I believe this may have happened after the random disk check on restart, but i can't 100% confirm that and i'm not even sure if they are related. I still have sound, but i have no way to control the volume of my entire system at once. I did some looking around online and saw that others are having or had the same issue, and it was through different versions of Linux also. somehow reset everything so i can access PAVC and start over . I also tried steps listed in another thread here on the same topic, but they weren't working and it also seemed to be for older Ubuntu versions.

I'm trying to create a PAN (Personal Area Network) using a laptop (Siragon ML-1040) and my desktop computer, but I get the Connection Refused (111) error.
Blueman doesn't detect any network service between the two computers unless I start PAND on one of them and then it detects the NAP service. That, only after I enable the NAP/Workgroup services on the Services submenu in Blueman. However, it doesn't work neither with the NM plugins or without them (dhclient and that other one I can't remember the name of).
Any clues over here? I'm using pand 4.91 and blueman.

Currently i'm figuring out how to send email notifications to users when services went down in Nagios. I know i need to install and configure Postfix, which i did already. I assume that when i configured to point it to "Satellite mail system" is the correct one instead of other things like "Internet.." etc. So the configurations is when you have installed the Postfix and there would pop a lot of questions right? Other than that, what have i missed?
Oh ya, i remember something. Hmm. I do not have any so-called real smtp server so would that be alright? I heard that installed and getting the Postfix running would be enough as it serves as a MTA (mail transfer agent). So if i do not have any smtp server, the relay host= ' ' what should i put it as?
When I connect with my vps server through openssh, doesn't establish connection. Openssh is active (see its status), port 22 is open, the sshd_config file is the same of original copy (I have saved one in the case I did a mistake) the only line different permitrootpassword is set on ''no'', there isn't a firewall that block ssh connection and with other remote desktop control like remmina works well.

To continue the installation of software on the server I wanted to connect remotely from windows PC on the same LAN. I am using PuTTY but when I try to connect I get "Error:Connection Refused". I have trawled the forums regarding the setup of putty and openssh and everything appears to be correctly configured.I have checked that the services are running on the server and that the IP address for the server is correct.The guides I have read online suggest that ssh should be correctly configured as part of the install, so why can I not connect from the same LAN?Is the firewall enabled by default during install?

It prompts for the password once i enter the password it gives me the error - cvs: Connection refused
Secondly if i telnet to the port 2401 it gives Trying 10.... telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
I checked the if the port is up by netstat-tulpn /netstat -na didnt show me the port 2401
I get a connection refused error whenever I attempt to connect to a remote ssh server, I tried the test at and it says outbound ssh port 22 is not being blocked. I'm wondering what else could be the problem.

we have 16 Nos HDD in each servers. These HDD's are checking by nagios with CPU and users.
For whatever reason, all of the checks will come up with the response: "Connection refused by host".
We have checked the server at the time of occurence and all seems fine. No memory issues, no CPU issues etc.
Then within 5-10 minutes the problem goes away.

I am trying to setup a simple SMTP server to relay scanned documents from a Xerox machine to email addresses. Unfortunately the Xerox machine doesn't support TSL or SSL so sending mail over port 25 on gets blocked. I have setup postfix on a desktop running Fedora 13 and have been able to set it up to forward the mail onto the correct server (gmail for example). My question is, how do I get the server to encrypt the emails (scanned documents) when sending them over the internet?
