CentOS 5 :: Postfix Not Sending Email To Right Server?
Jul 23, 2009I have postfix sort of working correctly. postfix can send email to the internet but it doesn't want to send email to my local exchange server. What I need is for postfix to send emails directed to @xyz.com to my exchange server instead of itself.
My setup
mail.xyz.com - exchange 2003 server
www.xyz.com - centos 5.3 server with postfix
www.xyz.com can send emails to my hotmail.com account so that part works correctly. www.xyz.com can't send email to username@xyz.com. postfix seems to be delivering the email to itself and not the exchange server.
How can I tell postfix to send the @xyz.com emails to my exchange server?

I do a tar of the drv to tape and I wish to send an email that job such and such has happened. My problem is : the subject of the email. I can set it - but if i try to use a var ( as in the $jobNum ) that Does work in the mail body - the subject comes out blank. I have also tried to buld a text file and shove that in the SUBJECT. my Q is how can I use a var in the subject.

May 3, 2011I'm using Linux 11.04 and just installed the most recent version of Postfix. I'm trying to send a simple email (through a relay) but when I run the command
sendmail davea@mydomain.com FROM: fromemail@gmail.com SUBJECT: hello world this is a test email .
It just hangs there. There is nothing in /var/log/mail.log or in any of its accompanying files.

Jul 24, 2010Currently i'm figuring out how to send email notifications to users when services went down in Nagios. I know i need to install and configure Postfix, which i did already. I assume that when i configured to point it to "Satellite mail system" is the correct one instead of other things like "Internet.." etc. So the configurations is when you have installed the Postfix and there would pop a lot of questions right? Other than that, what have i missed?
Oh ya, i remember something. Hmm. I do not have any so-called real smtp server so would that be alright? I heard that installed and getting the Postfix running would be enough as it serves as a MTA (mail transfer agent). So if i do not have any smtp server, the relay host= ' ' what should i put it as?

the eth0 is my IP from ISP
the eth1 is my internal IP
Now since my postfix and dovecot are started without any errors what I mean is. I can able to send in yahoo,gmail,etc... and also i can recieve email from outside. My question is how can I restrict this email address prinzz@prinzz.com denied for outside but can send and recieve only in internal while this prinzz2@prinzz.com is allow to send and receive outside and inside.

I am trying to figure out a way to send an email to my gmail address with an attachment, but cannot find how. Already confirmed that email can reach my gmail account.
In the end I have to use mutt to send the email with attachments, probably SendEmails will also do well, but I am wondering how to do the same thing in postfix from command-line?

Sep 1, 2010I have been trying to increase the message_size_limit on my Debian 2.4.26 box with postfix 2.3.8. For example, I set message_size_limit and mailbox_size_limit to 104857600 (100m) and restart postfix. Running postconf -n confirms that it has changed. However when I send a test message it kicks it back saying the message size limit is 16777216 (16m, which is, incidentally, the default value of the berkeley_db_create_buffer_size parameter)

Apr 27, 2010I notice that when someone sends a message from my Postfix server & it can't find the destination server or if there is a incorrect domain recipient entered by mistake, it sits in my Postfix queue for days. I think perhaps 4-5 days for some reason. I was wondering if I could shorten the time so the sender gets a delivery failure message kicked back to them in 24 hours rather than waiting 4 or so days.

Server :: Postfix As Sending MTA For Multiple Domains?
Jun 7, 2010I am setting up a Postfix MTA that will be only sending mail for 10 different domains. We have other servers that will be receiving the mail for the domains so I only need to set up for sending on Postfix.
What my issue is I am trying to configure Postfix so that when it sends mail the header shows what domain the mail came from and not the domain the Postfix server is set to. For example....

When I send mail from domain2.com I want it to show in the header it was sent from domain2.com and not from domain1.com. What do I need to set in postfix so that this happens? Right now no matter what domain the mail is from the header always shows the server domain and I can't have that.
