Server :: How To Access Local Part / Domain Part Of Email Address In Postfix's Main.cf?
May 24, 2010
I'm trying to figure out how to access the local part and the domain part of an email address in postfix's main.cf. For example, myname@mydomain.net has myname as the local part and mydomain.net as the domain part.I get the whole email address with %s. I want to speed up the lookups by writing better database queries.I've had no luck finding this in the otherwise well documented postfix.
we have access to one domain name , 1 internet ip address and may servers hosting different part of site. I want them all to be accessed via same web site . some of the server in our network are embedded devices.they have their specific utility being hosted on that machine. So the severs are bound to be distributed . I just wanted to know how can I access them via single ip, domain name.
I just used dd to clone a linux partition to a new hard drive, it had 800mb left on the old hard drive, after dd, new hard drive lists 1.29/1.3 terabytes full. Is this what happens by default in dd? How can I fix this?
In bootseqence of linux, the first step is check the CMOSRAM(size 64bytes) setup for custmor setting. So i am just confused wether CMOSRAM is a part of motherboard or is a part of RAM itself.
I installed Postfix, Roundcube (webmail) and Dovecot. Postfix stores the e-mails in maildirs located at /home/postfix/maildir/[user]@[domain]. Now I set the mail_location configuration option in Dovecot to: mail_location = maildir:/home/postfix/maildir/%u@%d The problem I run into is logging in with [user]@[domain]. Right now I can only login with [user] (without @[domain]), which makes the mail_location invalid (no e-mails can be found). How could I configure dovecot to use the domain name as well as part of the username?
I just installed openSUSE dual-boot with windows. Wireless works fine on windows. Only ethernet works on openSUSE. At first, it couldn't even find my wireless network. With my friend's help we experimented and tried everything to find the driver for my broadcam4312 driver.
Later, my friend some update from the official openSUSE peeps... Then, the wireless could my network. I entered in my password and then hoped for the best but then it got stuck on the Obtaining IP Adress part. I know I got the rite password.
I am thinking about buying a domain name and hosting my web server.
I have seen pricing from $8 to $30 a year. Any favorites from fellow ubunters? Also this whole "whois" thing scares me, if I am correct my information I enter when buying the domain is enter into some big pool of information. People can find this information out and dig up important information. url Can I prevent this with private Whois or how do I set it up? This website examples some of my fears with this whole WhoIs thing, url whois/Private-Whois.html Does most/all domain registers come with email or just email forwarding or both? How does that work? At this moment, my only question about Web Hosting is how do I get Website Statistics as in: Stats, web analytics, web traffic stats and more? I will be web hosting through Ubuntu 9.10 gnome.
i have a small issue, to make our network more secure, i now require outgoing email to require authentication. Now the problem..i have a automated mailer that does not have the option to authenticate. is there a way to allow a certain email address or the local network to send out without authentication? If i cannot do this for a single email user to allow them through with authentication, how would i remove the authentication paramaters in the postfix smtp..
In the office there is a local network with samba+openldap PDC. The local domain name is company.net. The company desided to create a corporate Website on a remote hosting and desided that the site's domain should be company.net which is same as local network's domain name. So now it is not possible to reach that corporate website from within the company's local network because, as I guess, bind9 which is installed on above menioned PDC looks for company.net on a local webserver. Is there a possibility to let people from this local network browse the remote site?
lost my internet connection on fedora 12 ? i try to assaing the ip address manual in the configruation part but no nothing happen I've tried googling for the problem
This is a transcript I get emailed at least once every day, usually about 3 to 10 a day recently.
Transcript of session follows. SMTP server: errors from unknown[ip address] <boring stuff snipped> In: RCPT TO: <server@my domain> Out: 550 5.1.1 <server@my domain>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in local recipient table
Session aborted, reason: lost connection Now I cannot seem to find anything via Google, as when I put "server@" anywhere in the string, I just get web hosting or other kroomst. The emails usually come from legit places, usually hotels. Does this mean they are sending bad emails, i.e. they have a Trojan/worm, or is this a live hack attempt?. I believe the later, as I might get upto 3 domains from the one ip address, which is always, NOT associated with the listed domain. Not causing me any issues, except I have been getting a lot recently.
I am doing a dist-upgrade from 8.04LTS to 8.09. I use usb KVM switch, and I keep my eye on it so that I can respond to the usual configuration file prompts that pop up. For a while everything went fine, but suddenly I find that I can't use the keyboard to log in and check the progress (the mouse is completely unresponsive). Here's the kicker though: the computer is fine. I can use 'Ctrl-Alt F1' through F7, and the computer responds appropriately; it just doesn't do anything when the login screen is up.
I checked the /var/log/dist-upgrade/term.log, and if I understand it correctly, whether or not to keep /etc/mysql/my.conf is currently up for question. Is there any way to take back control of the computer without interrupting the upgrade? Not knowing very much about the install process, it seems like the GUI stopped polling for input.
I typed in a XTerm in IceWM(knowing I don't have permissions):
[code]...
I can't access that folder with these permissions. Why would it place it in such a folder?! What is in this file? What part of the system is responsible for this/ where do I turn this off?
I have four home computers (linux) that I can easily access using Remote Desktop Viewer. Two of the computers have Windows partitions with UltraVNC installed and I can access them without a problem.
However when I try to access a friends Windows computer in another part of the state I fail. I have researched the issue at length and it appears to be as simple as it is in my home situation the exception being I need to use the external IP address of the other computer but when I try I get a message saying the computer I am trying to access is closed, (the other computer is turned on) UltraVNC is used on the other computer and it has a dynamic IP address which I am updated with. I have checked the Windows firewall and it will allow VNC and we have tried it with the anti-virus disabled just in case that firewall was causing an issue. Lastly, remote access has been activated on the Windows computer. Can't think of anything else to mention,
Im pretty sure this is trivial to config, but I havent had any luck searching on google. My situation is: I want to forward any emails sent to my domain to another account. So:
1. when a mail is sent to an account; if it has a forwarder set; it should forward a copy of email to the mentioned email address.
2. all the emails sent to a domain alias should be automatically forwarded to the respective email account in the main domain.
eg for 1. xyz@abc.com => hfg@gmail.com eg for 2. xyz@alias.com => xyz@maindomain.com
We have a database that stores the mailboxes as we have our own control panel. I can get only one working at a time. I have the mysql query in the .cf file and mentioned it in the main.cf as 'virtual_alias_maps' but i need both to work not just one at a time.
tell postfix to send email sent to one email address to another email address. What I really need to do is tell postfix that every email sent to [URL] and [URL] be sent to [URL] I tried transport maps like this: [URL] but that did not work. I then tried canonical maps like this:
but it did not work either. I am really exhausted and I need to find a solution for this one since it is my boss asking me to get this working. This is what if in /var/log/mail in box1:
Dec 28 16:10:25 box1 postfix/pickup[19291]: 54D258F726: uid=0 from=<root> Dec 28 16:10:25 box1 postfix/cleanup[23489]: 54D258F726: message-id=<4D1A5241.mailIBZ11LRR6@box1.thisdomain.com>
After a reboot of my VPS, I keep getting the following error when sending email to my domain (hosted on Google Email). I can send to other email addresses but my own. So it seems like postfix thinks all mydomain.co.nz is to be sent internally?
Some time ago I've opened a thread about ACPI - as it turned out - killing my server. You may read it here if interested. My question is how can I enable Hyperthreading support in my kernel without enabling any part of ACPI?(Boot flag acpi=ht causes the same issue as described in above thread, so enabling any part of ACPI in any manner is not desirable)My kernel:
[root@sheridan ~]# uname -a Linux sheridan.******** 2.6.35.11-83.fc14.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Feb 7 07:06:44 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I have an email server configured with postfix, dovecot, saslauthd and squirrelmail. It works great. In fact I'd even say it works too well: in squirrelmail, I can configure any sender address and my server will accept it. Message will be sent, wether the sender's address is [URL] or [URL]. Is there any way of limiting it in such way that only [URL] is accepted as sender's address?
I need a webserver (LAMP) running inside a virtual machine (#1) running as a service (#2) in headless mode (#3) with part or the whole file system encrypted (#4).The virtual machine will be started with no user intervention and provide access to a web application for users in the host machine. Points #1,#2 and #3 are checked and proved to be working fine with Sun VirtualBox, so my question is for #4:Can I encrypt all of the file system and still access the webserver (using a browser) or will GRUB ask me for a password? If encrypting all of the file system is not an option, can I encrypt only /home and /var/www? Will Apache/PHP be able to use files in /home or /var/www without asking for a password or mounting these partitions manually?
dammit... all that typing and I hit the wrong "submit" button. *sigh*
Ok, I have a couple of SMTP servers for our infrastructure. They are running Postfix. I have them configured so that specific email addresses such as support@mydomain.com and billing@mydomain.com all go to a new support server that I am building with osTicket. Lets call that server SUPP1.
SUPP1 runs sendmail from the default install of CentOS 5 i386. At this point everything runs great. New emails get added into the osTicket system via a pipe in sendmail. Here's where the problem comes in. In order to accept mail, sendmail has to have the domain listed in local-host-names and the addresses in virtusertable. That works just dandy. But in doing so, sendmail believes it is the destination SMTP server for "mydomain.com". That means that I can't send mail from that server back into my normal SMTP servers. So things like the LogWatch, cron jobs, etc can't send notifications. Is there a way to work around that? For sendmail to ignore local-host-names for outbound email or something?
I am trying to configure virtual alias using regular expression.
For example :
Email send to user.1@example.com and user.2@example.com will deliver to user mailbox.
Email send to user2.1@example.com and user2.2@example.com will deliver to user2 mailbox.
And the numbers or alphabet in between user name and the domain will be vary , I can't just do a normal alias.
I been try to play around with main.cf and the virtual alias table but still not able to get work. So I am not sure is the main.cf didnt configure correctly or the regular expression is not working.
Running Ubuntu 9.10. In the Remote Desktop config dialog I get: "Your desktop is only reachable over the local network. Others can access your computer using the address 127.0.0.1 or tabatha.local." I understand this means only the loopback ip address is available. All my other machines show their true local ip address (e.g., 192.168.1.104) in this dialog. Thus I cannot log on to this desktop from other machines.
When I try to do a remote logon from another Ubuntu 9.10 box (or from an XP box using a VNC viewer), I get: "Connection to 192.168.1.102 has been closed." What steps are needed to make this machine show its actual ip address? All file sharing between the various machines is working properly and all windows shares back and forth between XP and 'nix, and among the the vaious XP boxes and linux boxes are available as designed.
Is there a way of allowing only certain domain to send e-mails to certain specific e-mail address. I am using Sendmail, and I have an alias which translate to certain members of staff within my organization. I don't expect e-mails from outside our domain to be sent to this alias e-mail address.
