Software :: Basic Webbased Accounting Or Financial Software?
Jun 27, 2010
By Webbased, I just mean running on a *AMP stack, not that is accessable over the actual web. Anyway, I am looking for software, preferrably OSS to fill very simple and specific needs. Basically, I have a very small business renting rooms to guests. It is possible for guests to order services, such as an item of food or drink, or a service such as laundry. What I am trying to setup, is a very basic system in which the receptionist can enter in guests along with their name, and perhaps other arbitrary details such as passport number, room number or such.
Additionally, anytime a guest make a purchase, it would be recorded to the guest account. This is all that I want the reception to be able to do...not have access to anything else, just to book in purchases. I then want the manager to be able to generate reports. For example, for a specific guest to see what purchases that guest made. Or to generate an income statement for a given month or time period. Or to see how much a particular food item has been ordered. Additionally, each record of a purchase must be able to have an ID number or such, which corresponds to an actual paperslip/bill..........
am having difficulties to set an environment for Financial Process Exchange server. i am running on CentOS release 5.5.
[root@Nagios ~]# $PATH -bash: /usr/kerberos/sbin:/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_16/bin:/root/bin:/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_16/bin: No such file or directory
what should i do next ? I have installed the J2sdk1.4.2 and file has located here
/usr/java drwxr-xr-x 8 root root 4096 Mar 15 03:55 j2sdk1.4.2_16
in bash_profile i also added # .bash_profile # Get the aliases and functions if [ -f ~/.bashrc ]; then . ~/.bashrc
use a Live CD of Ubuntu to do all my financial transactions online, I figure thats the safest way since any virus/trojan cannot infect the Live CD?Just one question, how safe is it to use Linux as a whole for this kind of use?(I mean, Linux and all the apps are open source and written by just about anybody, so how can I be sure that even the Ubuntu Live CD doesnt have any sort of keylogger etc installed? After all, with so many lines of code, I'm sure someone could have sneaked in something like that?)
As you've probably found out if you searched for this on Google, the new FAFSA page [URL] does not allow any Linux browser access to financial aid forms. The solution I found is to install User Agent Switcher for Firefox [URL] and restart the browser. Right click a toolbar, like the navigation toolbar near the back button, and click 'Customize'. Find the User Agent Switcher icon and drag it to the toolbar. Now you can change the browser's identity by clicking the little globe on the toolbar and select, for example, Internet Explorer 8. You should now be able to get beyond the first page of the new FAFSA website.
I've looked all over the web, but don't see an answer to my particular case. I'm in GParted in Ubuntu Live CD 9.10 amdx64 To prep for Ubuntu install, I'm attempting to resize and re-partition my second hard drive which was FORMERLY my primary boot drive for Vista before it crashed a few days back. It is CURRENTLY my Vista User data file and is about 250Gb in size. The drive is a SATA 500Gb total.
But GParted now all of a sudden gives me several "Cluster accounting failed at blah blah: missing cluster in $Bitmap" error messages. Is there a good way to 'fix' these errors? (besides reformatting it) I deleted the long-winded background, so let me know if you need more info. Short version: I installed vista by reformatting my 120Gb data drive as the primary master now. Then I plugged in my 'previous' 500Gb Sata drive, and pointed Window's User folder to my old User folder, and voila, was back up and running in Vista... minus all my programs. but now, both drives are recognized by GParted as "boot" drives.
I operate on fc13. I have a small business running in India, I need a business accounting software for my business. Something simillar to tally. Gnucash Grisbi are all personal accounting softwares. These do not fullfill the needs of a busness. even then good softwares. I am searching for a business accounting software.
Our business is replacing Microsoft Windows with Ubuntu (Linux) but there is one or two problems with the main computer in the office. One the main computer is my Dad's computer and the only thing he does differently then the other computers is that he does his accounting which he uses Simply Accounting and I don't think Simply Accounting is compatible with Ubuntu/Linux.
I found a great, simple accounting program for Ubuntu called Eqonomize. It doesn't have to be that one, but anyone where we can convert are data from Simply Account to an accounting program with Ubuntu.
I am in the process of creating a new plan for the department and I am stuck at how I can manage and limit photocopy jobs on canon imagerunner machine. I know and I have tried pykota for print accounting successfully. However, I want to expand it to include imagerunner photocopy tasks as well. Has anyone does something similar (imagerunner photocopy accounting remotely) with or without pykota? If so can you point me to the correct direction.
It's missing the data on bytes and packets transmitted through that particular connection. I had written a program that uses this information. Was this pulled out of the kernel on purpose or did I miss some option when compiling the new kernel for my box?
I really like the way the ledger CLI accounting software works, but I cannot seem to get it to function correctly. I set my LEDGER_FILE environment variable to my text file. Whenever I use ledger the output is always formatted incorrectly. Heres an example: I can do ledger bal
results (replace $MONEY with actual numbers): $MONEY ESC[34mAssets:CheckingESC[0m ESC[31m$-MONEYESC[0m ESC[34mEquity:Opening BalanceESC[0m
That is the result I get. I am not sure whats wrong. There is also no man page for ledger or any kind of help with the -h flag.
I've been poking around for the last week trying to find a suitable small business accounting software that will work for us. To make a long story short I stumbled upon SQL-Ledger and it looks like a very good application just what we're looking for... and low and behold its in the repositories! Anyway I installed the SQL-Ledger package but unfortunately there's no way to load or open this app. Synaptic shows its installed but there's no gui or and reference in the menu. Searching using the filter in the menu results in nothing. So I'm assuming SGL-Ledger just needs a gui associated with it to open it right??
Having an Error with a commercial Account program Called Pastel Accounting [URL]When I invoke multiuser Access to opening one account set of books with multiple users for opening one account, it produces an error. I'm able to open the one set of books with a password. But when trying open the same set of books from another computer, it produces an error. The attached file shows the error. The Database engine is Pervasive Corporate Site > Home. This is the version I'm running and my script below. Samba version 3.5.8-30.1-2516-SUSE-SL11.3-i386
I am looking for recommendations on open source accounting software for small business that could be run via web interface on CentOS 5.The more user friendly it is the better. Users use the windows platform for their desktop environment.
I'm trying to get compiz setup but it is not having any affect at all. I installed it and went to the synaptic system manager and added all the compiz plugins that were there. I restarted several times before and after going to the synaptic system manager. It said installed successfully, however it has no effect so it isn't "on" whatsoever. I have watched ..... tutorials on how to set it up. It looked easy enough but did not work for me. I have tried commands from tutorials but I don't know enough or how to edit folder contents. I think they were old tutorials anyways, I am running the newest squeeze debian distro. The 3d desktop was one reason I wanted to try linux. If I can't get the basic apps like this to work then there is no reason for me to use linux.
basic theme, Docky will not function, no close/min/max buttons, black bakground.Persists even after multiple restarts. Haven't installed or changed anything recently.
Naturally i don't want to harm my system but I would like I shutdown via the terminal. I understand there are shutdown poweroff and halt commands. Which is the safe one (like as if I just did it using the GUI) at the moment I am just using shutdown now and that seems to work fine, I just want to check that it's not harming my system and that this command does everything it needs to ie closes all programs and shuts everything down in a safe way.
I took the simple approach and installed the gnome desktop, but I have read about KDE and Xfce and am curious. There may be a lot more that I just haven't heard about yet too. So the question is: Without doing a reinstall and messing up the downloads and settings I have now, how do I try a new desktop like Xfce or Kde? Also, what are the basic differences between the desktops?
I guess I'm just a noob, but I notice that some C libraries (and even some C++ ones) tend to redefine the basic types with their own naming convention.
For example, OpenGL redefines the basic types: Code: from GL/gl.h typedef unsigned int GLenum; typedef unsigned char GLboolean; typedef unsigned int GLbitfield; typedef signed char GLbyte; typedef short GLshort; typedef int GLint; [Code].....
When you put in the Fedora disk, it has an option "Install system with basic video driver". What does that mean? If I am not going to download a video driver, is that the better choice?
Basic 256 starts up but after entering a few characters like print "hello" it stops responding. I have tried it on 3 machines, two running Ubuntu 10.04 and one 10.10.

I am looking for a basic guide to Linux security. I am assessing a multi-server farm and have very limited experience with Linux. Where can I get a list of basic things I should be looking at from a security standpoint, i.e. ports, vulnerabilities, users, etc? Looking for a checklist I can run through. We are running CentOS Linux 5.0.
