Ubuntu :: GParted - Cluster Accounting Failed

Feb 12, 2010

I've looked all over the web, but don't see an answer to my particular case. I'm in GParted in Ubuntu Live CD 9.10 amdx64 To prep for Ubuntu install, I'm attempting to resize and re-partition my second hard drive which was FORMERLY my primary boot drive for Vista before it crashed a few days back. It is CURRENTLY my Vista User data file and is about 250Gb in size. The drive is a SATA 500Gb total.

But GParted now all of a sudden gives me several "Cluster accounting failed at blah blah: missing cluster in $Bitmap" error messages. Is there a good way to 'fix' these errors? (besides reformatting it) I deleted the long-winded background, so let me know if you need more info. Short version: I installed vista by reformatting my 120Gb data drive as the primary master now. Then I plugged in my 'previous' 500Gb Sata drive, and pointed Window's User folder to my old User folder, and voila, was back up and running in Vista... minus all my programs. but now, both drives are recognized by GParted as "boot" drives.

Ubuntu Installation :: Resize Error - Missing Cluster GParted

Apr 20, 2011

I have a netbook that has a dead windows partition. I've installed ubuntu and have never tried to recover the dead windows installation. However, I now need that space in the main partition. I ran the liveUSB of ubuntu and ran gparted. I have an error on that partition.

Accounting clusters...
cluster accounting failed at 66892 (0x1054c): Missing cluster in $bitmap
Cluster accounting failed at 489569 (0x77861): extra cluster in...

I think I may have attempted to resize this and I got this error. I cannot get into windows to fix anything, so I can't run scan disk or fix disk etc. I'm not sure if I can get a command prompt. I don't have a CD drive. Can I reinstall linux and use the entire hard drive? Will it do this, or will the cluster errors prevent this? Can I fix this so to resize the windows partition?

General :: Recover A Disk After Failed Gparted Resize?

Aug 1, 2010

I was trying to resize an external ntfs hard drive, so that I could make room at the front of the disk for a swap partition. At the end of the process gparted encountered an error. It couldn't see my disk again until I rebooted the system. Now, when it looks at the hard drive, it sees it as one big unpartitioned hard drive.

I'm pretty sure all the data is still there, uncorrupted. I just can't access it. How can I fix this?

Ubuntu Servers :: Setup An Apache Web Cluster Using Red Hat Cluster Suite

Sep 1, 2011

I am working in a project that needs to set up an Apache Web Cluster. The cluster needs to be High-availability (HA) cluster and Load-balancing cluster. Someone mentioned the use of Red Hat Cluster Suite, but, honestly, I can't figure out how it works, I haven't been able to configure it correctly. The project currently have two nodes, but we need to support at least three nodes in the cluster.

Fedora Servers :: How To Setup GFS2 Without Cluster Suite / How To Configure Cluster.conf

Nov 6, 2010

I am trying to build GFS2 cluster with 2 or 3 Fedora 14 nodes, but I've encountered some problems from the start. First luci does not work at all in Fedora 14. There is no luci_admin and even if I manage to start luci service, I get a blank white screen when I try to open it from the browser. I've googled a bit and found that I'd might be able to setup GFS if I manage to build cluster.conf manually and start the cluster suite, but I cannot find documentation on how to create cluster.conf anywhere. If anyone knows how to setup GFS2 without a cluster suite or how to configure cluster.conf.

Server :: Install Red Hat New Cluster - Error: Cman Not Started: Cannot Start, Cluster Name Is Too Long

I'm having a very strange problem with red hat cluster. After testing it in the lab, I tried to install a new cluster and received the following error: cman not started: Cannot start, cluster name is too long or other CCS error /usr/sbin/cman_tool: aisexec daemon didn't start I've checked the internet for that error, but nothing. I decided to to take the example from cluster.conf man, which looks like that :

And still I get the same error. I can find my servers both from DNS (FQDN and short name) and they also appear in /etc/hosts.

General :: Partition Gparted Fdisk / When Reduced The Size Of Some Linux Partitions Using Gparted?

Sep 18, 2009

I have 3 Ubuntu installations & a PCLINUXOS, plus Windows XP installed on one hard disk. I still can boot to each one of them and can mount each one using Ubuntu.

The problem "may" have occurred when I reduced the size of some linux partitions using gparted. I still have plenty of space in each of those partitions.

When I started gparted all of the HD was unallocated. I did that from each ubuntu installation and the PCLINUX installation, plus LIVECDs. All indicated the space was unallocated.

When I did an fdisk -l from a Puppy Linux LiveCD I got a normal start and ends of each partition.

When I tried it from Ubuntu installation or live cd, I received the following types of responses:

Code:
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo fdisk -l /dev/sda5

Disk /dev/sda5: 28.5 GB, 28566397440 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 3473 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x00000000
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo fdisk -u /dev/sda5

The number of cylinders for this disk is set to 3473.There is nothing wrong with that, but this is larger than 1024,and could in certain setups cause problems with:

1) software that runs at boot time (e.g., old versions of LILO)
2) booting and partitioning software from other OSs (e.g., DOS FDISK, OS/2 FDISK) Plus the Windows partition seems to go over its limits.

Since all of my OS installations are still working, I don't know how critical this is. From reading another post, I understand this might be able to be fixed by making some changes in fstab.

Ubuntu Installation :: Convert From Simply Accounting To Eqonomize?

Our business is replacing Microsoft Windows with Ubuntu (Linux) but there is one or two problems with the main computer in the office. One the main computer is my Dad's computer and the only thing he does differently then the other computers is that he does his accounting which he uses Simply Accounting and I don't think Simply Accounting is compatible with Ubuntu/Linux.

I found a great, simple accounting program for Ubuntu called Eqonomize. It doesn't have to be that one, but anyone where we can convert are data from Simply Account to an accounting program with Ubuntu.

Ubuntu :: Find A Suitable Small Business Accounting Software?

Apr 7, 2010

I've been poking around for the last week trying to find a suitable small business accounting software that will work for us. To make a long story short I stumbled upon SQL-Ledger and it looks like a very good application just what we're looking for... and low and behold its in the repositories! Anyway I installed the SQL-Ledger package but unfortunately there's no way to load or open this app. Synaptic shows its installed but there's no gui or and reference in the menu. Searching using the filter in the menu results in nothing. So I'm assuming SGL-Ledger just needs a gui associated with it to open it right??

On Kernel 2.6.36.2 I get this from that same file:

It's missing the data on bytes and packets transmitted through that particular connection. I had written a program that uses this information. Was this pulled out of the kernel on purpose or did I miss some option when compiling the new kernel for my box?

Software :: Basic Webbased Accounting Or Financial Software?

Jun 27, 2010

By Webbased, I just mean running on a *AMP stack, not that is accessable over the actual web. Anyway, I am looking for software, preferrably OSS to fill very simple and specific needs. Basically, I have a very small business renting rooms to guests. It is possible for guests to order services, such as an item of food or drink, or a service such as laundry. What I am trying to setup, is a very basic system in which the receptionist can enter in guests along with their name, and perhaps other arbitrary details such as passport number, room number or such.

Additionally, anytime a guest make a purchase, it would be recorded to the guest account. This is all that I want the reception to be able to do...not have access to anything else, just to book in purchases. I then want the manager to be able to generate reports. For example, for a specific guest to see what purchases that guest made. Or to generate an income statement for a given month or time period. Or to see how much a particular food item has been ordered. Additionally, each record of a purchase must be able to have an ID number or such, which corresponds to an actual paperslip/bill..........

Ubuntu Servers :: Setup A Cluster Using Heartbeat?

I am currently trying to setup a cluster using heartbeat. Unfortunatly it does not do what I want to do. I am using heartbeat 2.1.4-11 on a readhat system. I am using the the cib for configuration. What I want to do is the following: I have two Nodes. I want to run a clone resource on both nodes. It's named I want to run as a clone. This works fine.Additionally I want to have two virtual IP adresses. One should be set on Node 1 the other on Node 2. This works fine as well. I want to set dependencies between the resources. And this is where I have problems. What I want to achive: In case named is not able to run on a node, the vIP should switch to the other node (which then will have both vIPs). In case both nodes are able to run named, there should be one vIP on each node. Sounds simple, but does not work.Accourding to the heartbeat docu this an be achieved by using
