root@PkNGssbkpT:/# sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:

A Fedora 12 Cheatsheet and for the geeks: [URL]
This cheatsheet lists alomost all the basic commands which are required for day to day use along with some amazing tricks.
How to compare two wav files [URL] or to be capable to reco simple voice commands? Openbox, fluxbox... can be ran using perlbox voice reco for basic commands. [URL] everything is frequence based:[URL] However we would like to make the use of the ALSA and processing after recording. OK.
Code:
apt-get install -f sphinx2
here is my script:
Code:
#!/bin/sh
# my alsa-1 is my usb mic
arecord -Dplughw:1,0 -f cd -vv voicecommand.wav
[code]....
THe next step is to analysis the wav file just created. The advantage is that sphinx2 works for basic commands + it uses only up to 3% of your CPU resources !
My new VPS is running Debian 5.0 (bash 3.2.29), and some commands seems to be missing. For example the ps command is not here, neither is ls (but dir works). Is there a package missing or what's the deal?
:~# type ps
ps is hashed (/bin/ps)
:~# ps
[code]....
I have found the cause of my problem, but I am not sure what the proper fix is.The issue is I accidentally modified a dynamic library file on my system (symlinked it to another file), and now common commands such as "ls" and "grep" are failing with segmentation fault
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I try execute a variety of basic commands (including ps, ls, ifconfig, locate), I receive the error 'no such file or directory'.
Here are some suggestions that I've found online, that I have tried without success: I did a 'whereis ps' and found the file in the /bin/, and have checked that '/bin' appears when I do 'echo $PATH' I did a filesystem check which showed my hard drive as being clean I tried doing a 'sudo chmod 777 ps' but was told that I dont have permission. I don't think permissions for these files would have changed though (and I can't check as I can't run the 'ls' command).
I'm on a Dell Inspiron 6000. I installed i8kutils and it works. Fan speed reduces CPU temp from 50C to 44C. A start-up script invokes the i8k module: $ udo /usr/sbin/modprobe i8k force=1 which creates /proc/i8k. The man page for i8kctl is straightforward: a few simple commands to read info from the aforementioned file.So. I know nothing about writing even basic bash scripts. I gave it a go here but I know this is way wrong. Would anyone like to help a guy out? This is my starting point (don't laugh):
Code:
#!/bin/bash
# script to toggle fan speed low/high

Naturally i don't want to harm my system but I would like I shutdown via the terminal. I understand there are shutdown poweroff and halt commands. Which is the safe one (like as if I just did it using the GUI) at the moment I am just using shutdown now and that seems to work fine, I just want to check that it's not harming my system and that this command does everything it needs to ie closes all programs and shuts everything down in a safe way.

if you do the command conky in terminal, it starts conky ofcourse, but it also shows output to that terminal so you can't do any other commands to that terminal, Is their an option like you can do with the '&' sign in other cases? If you do the '&' sign with conky it still gives output, also the conky -d command gives output...
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am in the process of coverting some video files to motion jpeg (Wii) files with ffmpeg (great program by the way). I have been successful and so the majority of my work is over. My question is simple (I think) but complex to me so... here it goes. Is there a way on one command line to "batch" convert 8 or 9 files together instead of one by one. I just don't know what to put on the command line. I took one UNIX class a long time ago and the terms pipe and such come to mind... but I forget. Any takers? That was I can write what I want the computer to do in the morning and just come back after work and voila...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to 11.04 today and wanted to reconfigure so that I could have the desktop cube again. Once I started trying to switch my settings for the cube configuration compiz asked whether I wanted to turn off various features and apparently among them was the control bar on the side and top of the screen. Now I log in to Ubuntu and I get my workspace and that's it. No control bars, just the workspace. I need to know a few things:
1) Has anyone else had this problem?
2) How do I get into the terminal from keyboard commands?
3) What terminal commands do I need to bring back at least the main toolbar so I can access programs.
I have a question regarding terminal. I try to launch it from the "Startup Applications" by entering a script.Code: sh -c '/usr/bin/gnome-terminal'but it does not start.Also, when it does start I would like it to auto run certain commands: navigate to my project folder run "play test" open a new tab run "top".how can I achieve this?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there was a way to show all current actions I am doing in a terminal window? For example if I left a terminal window open on one of my desktops, could I make it display everything I am doing so that when I receive some general error in a program, I could jump over and get some more details. I could also use it to see what commands are actually run when I do certain things.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have created a stripped own version of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, and removed the screen saver and power management options from the desktop as we have turned off the menu. The reason for this is security as we do not want users having any other options then what shows on the desktop. What is the sudo command to get back to this or do I need to under the administrator profile Create a Launcher icon?
