Ubuntu Installation :: Convert From Simply Accounting To Eqonomize?
Feb 23, 2011Our business is replacing Microsoft Windows with Ubuntu (Linux) but there is one or two problems with the main computer in the office. One the main computer is my Dad's computer and the only thing he does differently then the other computers is that he does his accounting which he uses Simply Accounting and I don't think Simply Accounting is compatible with Ubuntu/Linux.
I found a great, simple accounting program for Ubuntu called Eqonomize. It doesn't have to be that one, but anyone where we can convert are data from Simply Account to an accounting program with Ubuntu.

I can see no reason why centos-relese-notes should depend on centos-release when I try "yum erase centos-release-notes" I am told there are 72 dependancies including completely irrelevant packages such as tar all because of this unnecessary dependancy.
The centos-release-notes package simply contains a bunch of text/html files that nothing else relies upon, so why the dependancies ?

Sep 5, 2010I have a Sansa mini-clip MP3 player. Now that I am using Ubuntu I wanted to totally redo my play lists. So using the Sansa menu, I formatted the MP3 player to start fresh. Then I opened Rythmbox and was going to import my MP3 files from my hard drive. Only problem is all of my MP3 files are grayed out on the import files menu. Then I installed Banshee and tried to import the MP3 files and they are grayed out in that program too.

Dec 27, 2010It would appear that novell openoffice 3.2.1.4 on opensuse 11.3 fails to correctly import pps/ppt files. Slide transition data is lost and this results in presentations without sound. This problem does not exist in openoffice from openoffice.org. openoffice from openoffice.org will play pps files with sound which will not play with openoffice from Novell. However the openoffice.org version requires JMF.
JMF is old and 32 bit. I have tested openoffice 3.2.1 from openoffice.org with JMF on a 32 bit 11.2 system and it works. I assume that JMF will not work with a 64 bit JRE. I also assume that it would be difficult to get a 32 bit jre to work with a 64 bit openoffice FMJ is an alternative to JMF. It plays various types of audio including mp3 and wav. It is packaged for installation on 11.3. Does anybody know if this works in place of JMF with openoffice from openoffice.org on a 64 bit system?

Feb 10, 2016I've downloaded configuration files for my VPN, Kovurt, and they don't have a .ovpn file extension. Further, when I tried to enter the information manually (using this guide), I saw that the files only include the <ca> tags, and no <cert>, <key> or <tls-auth> tags.
Here is the content of one of the config files, simply named 'Tokyo' with no extension. (adding .ovpn didn't work either):

General :: Can't Make Clear On Most Manpages - Can't Simply Usebzip2 File?
Feb 5, 2010What they don't make clear on most manpages is that you can't simply usebzip2 thisfile.xxx that gives bzip2 free rein to include the original extension in the filename. You must use the -c tag (and better than that, the -c and -k tags, the latter of which leaves the original file untouched post-compression), then -if you wish- the level of compression to apply to a file (in the range of 1-9, with 1 being next-to-no compression and 9 the highest level of compression), followed by the filename/s to compress, then after a single space, a right-hand carat (">"), then another single space and the name you want to give the compressed bzip2 file, remembering to add the extension ".bzip2" (no quotes) to your filename.
Sounds pretty obvious, doesn't it? Well, I thought so too once I read a particular manual page and reasoned it out. Then I remembered the 15 or so minutes it took me to Google myself to that manpage, and I decided it was good Net citizenship to put up a little step-by-step like this one on an appropriate forum on which I was already a registered member.
It isn't just the C++ heads or the Python jockeys who need things broken down to their simplest bits for them from time to time. Newbies and near-newbies do, too. I took it as read that was the reason for this subforum, so here I went.

Feb 12, 2010I've looked all over the web, but don't see an answer to my particular case. I'm in GParted in Ubuntu Live CD 9.10 amdx64 To prep for Ubuntu install, I'm attempting to resize and re-partition my second hard drive which was FORMERLY my primary boot drive for Vista before it crashed a few days back. It is CURRENTLY my Vista User data file and is about 250Gb in size. The drive is a SATA 500Gb total.
But GParted now all of a sudden gives me several "Cluster accounting failed at blah blah: missing cluster in $Bitmap" error messages. Is there a good way to 'fix' these errors? (besides reformatting it) I deleted the long-winded background, so let me know if you need more info. Short version: I installed vista by reformatting my 120Gb data drive as the primary master now. Then I plugged in my 'previous' 500Gb Sata drive, and pointed Window's User folder to my old User folder, and voila, was back up and running in Vista... minus all my programs. but now, both drives are recognized by GParted as "boot" drives.

It's missing the data on bytes and packets transmitted through that particular connection. I had written a program that uses this information. Was this pulled out of the kernel on purpose or did I miss some option when compiling the new kernel for my box?

To make a long story short I stumbled upon SQL-Ledger and it looks like a very good application just what we're looking for... and low and behold its in the repositories! Anyway I installed the SQL-Ledger package but unfortunately there's no way to load or open this app. Synaptic shows its installed but there's no gui or and reference in the menu.
