Transmission bittorrent client on my computer doesn't seem to download any files...It just struks on 'downloading file'...When i checked out the preferences it says 'port closed', i'm using port no 18768....Torrents download fine with opera with the same port no...
I am using ubuntu 11.04. I want to know that how can I set proxy settings for Transmission bittorrent client?I fill the settings in network proxy but it won't work for bittorrent.
I have quite fast Internet connection, 100mbit, and I'm able to take advantage of the entire bandwidth that I'm paying for. When I, however, use Transmission as torrent client and download a torrent faster than, 7-8 Mbyte/second, my hard drive is spinning all the time and my desktop becomes sporadically unresponsive, load average gets high and I'm pretty much sure the Transmission-application is the cause to this, somehow. It must be some strange way it cashes stuff...I don't know.
I'm, either way, not experiencing anything like that with any other torrent client in Linux (or Windows for that matter). It's not that I'm tied to Transmission, in fact, I prefer rtorrent and use it anytime I can, it's just that some stupid torrent sites are giving me Transmission as the only client option when I'm using Linux, so I have to stick to it those times. I have quite fast system, Core Duo 3ghz, 4gb ram, 500 gb 7200rpm 16MB cache WD hard drive, etc...so the hardware certainly shouldn't be a problem.
Iam always downloading files using transmission bittorrent, the problem is my sister always keep pausing my all my downloads because it somehow slows her internet speed in her rooms computer, any way I can have a password prompted every time she pauses all my downloads in transmission?
p { margin-bottom: 0.08in; }a:link { } Is it possible to use Transmission BitTorrent like limewire?
If so how? I am not familiar with terms like associated 'torrent file and 'tracker' websites'' The help files at the Transmission website assume a high level of preexisting knowledge. Is there a way to learn this program starting from scratch?
I can only access the Transmission web interface while the Transmission-gtk client is running. When I close it, the web interface is no longer available. I try to manually start the transmission-daemon, but the process never shows up as running.
I have just set up the transmission bittorrent client on my server (using the web interface), and am trying to get the port forwarding right. After noticing low download speeds (and rare uploading), I decided to check if a port needed to be forwarded.
I found many conflicting sites, mentioning both the ranges 6881-6999 and the port 51413 (as well as TCP and UDP versus just TCP). My current configuration is to forward TCP and UDP port 51413 to my server.
I don't know what exactly I did to wreck the functionality but something did Deluge in. I've purged the configuration files and libraries and reinstalled them three times over and every time in terminal that I start it using deluge-gtk I get the following output:
Code:
ryan@ryan-PC-Ubuntu:~$ deluge-gtk Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/deluge-gtk", line 9, in <module> load_entry_point('deluge==1.2.2', 'console_scripts', 'deluge-gtk')()
I don't know what's wrong with my Ubuntu but everytime I open Transmission BitTorrent Client, the internet connection become unstable from time to time. Internet access run smooth without it but I need it to download file from torrent...
I used Dual-boot with XP and Ubuntu and I got no problem with 9.10 Karmic Koala but just got this problem after upgrading to 10.04 Lucid Lynx.
I tried Ubuntu, Kubuntu and now Xubuntu, all 11.04. I've also tried Deluge, Transmission and Ktorrent. With 10.10 everything worked fine (all variants). Also, in Windows 7 it's working fine. But now it drives me crazy. As soon as I start a torrent, the download starts but after 30 seconds or so the download drops to a zero. Also, I'm not able to browse anymore. The networkmanager tells me I still have a connection.
Some say it has something to do with the number of peers the client connects to, or it's my router. My router isn't the problem, as it's working fine with 10.10 and windows. So maybe it's the number of peers right? Question. Why can I connect with over 200 peers at the same time while I'm using 10.10 or windows, but can't do it with 11.04? Better put, what should I do to get this working fine again? Going back to 10.10?
I have an internal network behind a server <10.0.0.1> connected to the internet that NATs my ip <10.17.11.88> only. NAT is not allowed to any other ip addresses. When I use Transmission Bittorrent client to download torrents, The thing is that this 10.20.0.244 is not my machine and doesn't have access to the internet at all. What is happening here? Can anyone help me?
I finally decided to give Ubuntu Karmic another chance after Jaunty->Karmic upgrades killed two laptops and a desktop. Fresh installs work better. Anyway, Along my usual post-install trawl through the available packages, a number of them stood out that I never really paid attention to before, and they've piqued my interests.
The three packages are: apt-p2p apt-transport-debtorrent debtorrent
If I understand them correctly, it's an alternate means to download packages through bittorrent instead of http transfers. What I want to know is, does it work? What sort of differences could be expected between bittorrent and http transfers when it's used?
this is not specifically a slackware related question, but since done on 2 slackware boxes... the situation is, i have one box for browsing and other desktop activities and another box acting as router/local server. what i want to achieve is that the router box would look on a nfs mounted folder for new *.torrent files (which i put there from the desktop box) and if there is a new file, it would start downloading it automatically. also a good thing would be if it would notify me when finished.so how would you go about itwhat torrent client would you use and so on? maybe someone has already done something like this?
Transmission is a simple BitTorrent client. It features a very simple, intuitive interface (gui and command-line) on top on an efficient, cross-platform back-end. This package contains the common files for the different transmission versions.
Changes
Changes for the versions: 1.75-0ubuntu2 1.75-0ubuntu2.2
Version 1.75-0ubuntu2.2:
* SECURITY UPDATE: fix arbitrary file overwrite via crafted torrent file - debian/patches/CVE-2010-0012.patch: adjust metainfo.c to check for '../' - CVE-2010-0012
So, I employed the update. Problem is, I do not see this as an installed application. TRANSMISSION is not listed in any submenu under the Applications menu OR Add/Remove.
I am currently using Debian Lenny and am having problems with my pptp vpn client. I can use the following software for as long as I like without my pptp vpn connection dropping out: (1) iceweasel (2) icedove (3) gtk-gnutella
If a use a bittorrent client, however, my pptp vpn connection drops out within a few minutes. I have tried these bittorrent clients: transmission, deluge, tixati. Enabling or disabling the firewall makes no difference.I have searched pptpclient.sourceforge.net and Debian User Forums but have not been able to find any suggestions on settings to change in a bittorrent client.
I've a plan to make Bittorrent Colocation. It like web hosting, the different is customer are rent space for download bittorrent. Because internet bandwidth in my country is very slow. So it have multi-user on this server What bittorrent client I use?
I have Ubuntu installed, using transmission client to download a torrent. The torrent is coming down at ~300kbps, but my internet connection speedtests @ 50mbps...how do I configure connection to utilize connection?
how to speed up torrent download with transmission in fedora, i find it very slow, also the speed is only 51 kbps not more than that i get, so how to increase the download speed to 128 kbps. i'm using broadband connection.
i install ubuntu for 2nd time, i use transmission app to download a torrent for my computer, but in this time that program block, and don't let me download waht i want. the program stay grey and not responding.
I have ubuntu-10.04-desktop-amd64.iso loaded in Transmission, which starts every time I boot up. Today, I booted up and got these weird error messages from Transmission with the ubuntu-10.04-desktop-amd64.iso file. The message is: Tracker gave an error "Requested download is not authorized for use with this tracker." - Idle.
I thought that maybe something was wrong with Transmission, so I paused the torrent and then removed it. I then reloaded it and pointed Transmission at the download directory. Transmission verified the downloaded data and then spat out the same error message at me - "Requested download is not authorized for use with this tracker."
I then removed the torrent from Transmission, exited from Transmission cleanly, restarted Transmission, reloaded the torrent file, pointed it at the current download location, it verified the file was completely downloaded, and then got the same error message. I have a firewall running, and it has ports 51413 and ports 6881-6999 open for both TCP and UDP connections. These are the same settings that I had yesterday, and there was no error message spat out by Transmission yesterday.
