I want BitTorrent client, similar to uTorrent.
1. I do not want crapware like Deluge or Vuze, who creates unwanted/unselected files and after downloading I must delete all of them.
2. I do not want to use WINE.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI don't know what exactly I did to wreck the functionality but something did Deluge in. I've purged the configuration files and libraries and reinstalled them three times over and every time in terminal that I start it using deluge-gtk I get the following output:

I used Dual-boot with XP and Ubuntu and I got no problem with 9.10 Karmic Koala but just got this problem after upgrading to 10.04 Lucid Lynx.
I tried Ubuntu, Kubuntu and now Xubuntu, all 11.04. I've also tried Deluge, Transmission and Ktorrent. With 10.10 everything worked fine (all variants). Also, in Windows 7 it's working fine. But now it drives me crazy. As soon as I start a torrent, the download starts but after 30 seconds or so the download drops to a zero. Also, I'm not able to browse anymore. The networkmanager tells me I still have a connection.
Some say it has something to do with the number of peers the client connects to, or it's my router. My router isn't the problem, as it's working fine with 10.10 and windows. So maybe it's the number of peers right? Question. Why can I connect with over 200 peers at the same time while I'm using 10.10 or windows, but can't do it with 11.04? Better put, what should I do to get this working fine again? Going back to 10.10?

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe config file is ambiguous, and keeps getting overwritten when you restart the daemon in Debian, anyway.
In /etc/transmission-daemon/settings.json, there are these options:
rpc-username
rpc-password
proxy-auth-username
proxy-auth-password
Every time I restart the daemon with:
/etc/init.d/transmission-daemon restart
It overwrites rpc-password, and the password it prints doesn't work anyway.
Does anyone know how to set the password properly? I don't want to disable it.
Is there command line BitTorrent Client in Linux? A PHP / Python script would be nice too.

When I use Transmission Bittorrent client to download torrents, The thing is that this 10.20.0.244 is not my machine and doesn't have access to the internet at all. What is happening here? View 8 Replies View RelatedI am currently using Debian Lenny and am having problems with my pptp vpn client. I can use the following software for as long as I like without my pptp vpn connection dropping out:
(1) iceweasel
(2) icedove
(3) gtk-gnutella
If a use a bittorrent client, however, my pptp vpn connection drops out within a few minutes. I have tried these bittorrent clients: transmission, deluge, tixati. Enabling or disabling the firewall makes no difference.I have searched pptpclient.sourceforge.net and Debian User Forums but have not been able to find any suggestions on settings to change in a bittorrent client.
Is there any mail software for linux that is like outlook express that works with hotmail without having to configure it for hours?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm after something simple to use similar to the XP fax client/fax printer. Hylafax seems an overkill. HPlip app seems to expect an HP printer/scanner or fax machine. Is it true that hplip is an HP exclusive? I'm using opensuse 11.2 with kde 4.3.1, but I would consider gfax. Gfax is not on my DVD. The docs for that on the hylafax site stop at 2008. Is an up to date Gfax a possibility? I see most of the hylafax posts in the archive get redirected to the hylafax website. I've been thru most of that stuff, but much it's out of date. Hylafax seems to be the basis for other apps.
I'm signed up for the Hylafax-user list, but I didn't see any hylafax archives to browse thru. If you are still with me here, I have an opensuse 11.2 with a dial-up internet. From the DVD I installed from I installed hylafax-4.4.4-19.3.i586 and client. That install load a bunch of fax tools at places the hylafax docs don't expect. Besides that their docs only go up to opensuse 10.2, tho there is some stuff or enterprise suse.
I am using Joli OS .Does anyone know why Utorrent is totally different here than on XP. On xp I simply download the torrent from Pirate Bay and Utorrent goes to work.On Joli there is this strange window showing extract file as if it was winzip. What gives?

It seemed to work fine with 9.10 but now I try it again and when I double click the utorrent launcher on my desktop it literally does nothing. Doesn't open anything, nor does it even report an error message.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've installed Ubuntu to take care of network intensive applications (read P2P). I've noticed what many others: uTorrent was faster than Deluge (and of course Transmission, et al). I know enough about how torrents work to understand that the client should not be THAT important, provided its stable and knows its way around. But still, uTorrent was beating Deluge hands down. Well, after fiddling with all the configuration options in Deluge, I think I could've found the reason for it being slower than uTorrent.
The problem was only evident with poor seeded torrents. I started by noticing that uTorrent saw way more peers, and - most importantly - some more seeds. Sometimes Deluge saw zero seeds and 2 peers, while uTorrent was seeing 2 seeds, and 16 peers. And that was the difference between one happy torrent, and a ditched torrent. But I'm rambling so I'll just say it : Deluge only uses one tracker from a multi-tracker torrent, while uTorrent uses all of them. So in uTorrent you just add the torrent and that's it, while in Deluge you have to force it to check the other trackers by changing the priorities of every one to that each one be at the top of the list long enough for Deluge to get the seed/peers from it.
I can't get uTorrent installed on my natty Ubuntu desktop pc. After downloading the file, I've copied all the files for the web admin to /var/www. When I run the executable, cpu load goes to 100% and nothing happens . When I go to localhost/ it says loading for a long time, and then " Can't talk to uTorrent client. Try reloading the page."
