I've got a perl script which generates an html file. What I'd really like to do is send people to just one page (the perl page) which then generates the html and shows the html page in question. Thus the whole transition will be invisible to the user, they'll just have an html page.FYI the perl script generates a list of the users who last logged in to the system, it needs to be up to date (by the second).Let me know if this isn't clear, I understand it sounds a bit confusing...
View 4 Replies View RelatedToday, the power was suddenly cut off in my house, then my home Ubuntu Server restarted after the power on, but when I use my laptop to view my wesite, the index.html suddenly became blank page, I did clear the firefox cache, doesn't work, still blank, and I changed browser, to seamonkey, the index.html still was blank, so, I am sure that the problem is coused by the server, and then, I put the index.html file to a subdirectory, which under the /var/www/home/index.html, and then I put the address < [url] > ,then,I can view my website the main page index.html.

I was trying to have access from a browser to the squirrelmail configtest page in my server, making some changes, I accidentaly remove the directory webmail. After I replace it with a backup apache2 can not start. This is what I have. Syntax error on line 281 of /etc/apache2/apache2.conf: Syntax error on line 1 of [URL].. closed. But I am sure there is a ?> at the end of this file.Base on what I read on [URL]...-with-the-tag/ I test without the ?> also, but I got the same error.

I have a Fedora 12 64bit Server set up, and for the most part it's working Great. I have 3 VHost set up, and no problems with that.
My problem is I just moved my Wife's xcart store from Godaddy to this server. And the store works great. But xcart is set up to use Clean URL's, and this is what I seem to be having all the problems with.
In my "httpd.conf" file, I have "AllowOverride All" to use ".htaccess" and in xcart ACP I have it set to use Clean URL's. I added a ".htaccess" file to root folder, with this in it.

Then the whole site works just fine, just No Clean URL's. I'm at my wits end with this, don't know what else to try to get this to work. So I was hoping someone here might have an answer, or at least some ideas to try. This all worked just fine on GoDaddy's site, I left because it was just too dam slow. It took a minute and a half just to load the Home Page. On my server its less that 2 seconds. And every time I asked them about it, it would speed up for a few days then slow down again. But the same .htaccess file worked on that server. So I think my problem is in my "httpd.conf" file just don't know where.
I reinstalled fedora the other day, and it's been working just fine, apart from the internet. It shows that I have a full connection with the wireless network, but it's really difficult to actually load a page. 80% of the time it just fails and shows "Page Load Error". It's really frustrating because it is connected to the internet. In fact, the icon in the address bar even loads from the site I try to access, but websites just will not load.
I've tested my wireless internet with another laptop which is running vista, and it works perfectly on that. Also, I'm running Fedora 10 on an Acer Extensa laptop.
I used wget -r to get all the web pages that were linked from index.html. The pages listed in index.html are all chapters. After using wget -r, all the chapters are now in the same folder on my local hard drive. Is there a way to build the chapters in their proper order into a "long"/"full" web page, rather than simply having each chapter as a link/next link on a previous page?

I have tried with firefox,epiphany,opera with all the same results. I am sure that this is not a problem with my internet connection because i don't have these problems with windows.Also the network manager connection settings are correct
I also tried choosing the old kernel(2.6.32.24) to boot from but no success.The problem is the same as if i am using the 2.6.32.25 kernel. The strange thing is that i can download packages from synaptic with full speed. Last think.I have recently downloaded the recommended updates from the update manager but i don't remember what are the things that where updated.
I had Fedora 7 and Windows Vista dual booting on my computer. I just installed Fedora 10. When the live CD asked me where to install it, I chose "Remove all Linux Partitions and create default layout" The installation went perfectly, but now when reboot my computer, it boots directly into Fedora; GRUB does not load to ask me which OS I want to load. I know I did not overwrite Vista because I can still view my Vista files through Fedora. Here is my grub.conf file:

i just tried opening facebook in firefox on windows and it works fine. On Firefox in ubuntu on the other hand the connection resets while the page is loading every time. I think my laptop/browser is blocking the connection to facebook but since I'm new to ubuntu i don't really know how to solve this

I'm running into a very strange issue that affects all web apps on my server. This happened after a reboot.
Basically, I can fill out a form, submit it, and then the next page will never load, or it will load after several minutes. To reiterate, this affects every web app on this server, and many of my users are noticing it.
I've already tried restarting Apache and doing a repair of MySQL tables
I can provide server details upon request, but it's a basic LAMP stack running Ubuntu 9.x on a Linode.

Flash doesn't load and the light at my webcam doesn't switch on at all. Things to note:Cheese works so I know my webcam in Ubuntu is functional. I've tried purging the flash plugin and reinstalling it. It doesn't work on Chrome and Firefox so it's definitely only a flash problem. I'm not using any medication so I know it isn't me just imagining it. Excuse me if such thread exists already, i carefully searched the forum so i wont create a second one concerning the following problem:So i downloaded (on my new fresh Fujitsu SIEMENS Li3710 running Vista the Ubuntu 9.04 distro.. im a complete Linux noob, but i wanted to give it a second try) so i downloaded it and burned it on the fast laptop, so there wont be any errors caused by low memory during burning I installed and then i went to the Ubuntu desktop - i had all drivers installed. Everything but Amarok sound worked, i turned off my laptop and went doing my job.. The next time i started up my laptop and went on the desktop .. a tradition is to browse the web, so i did that and i couldnt load a single page, except pages with direct IPs i had Skype working just fine and i had a friend there running SuSe and asked him for help. We identified it as a DNS problem, but because of my noobness i couldnt deal with it and i HAD TO switch back to windows, wich i regret so much.
I know that im a noob, but if i have an internet running at its best i can look at forums and resolve my other issues, so im asking for a screenshots on DNS settings so i can fix it the next time i install Ubuntu.Also! I was using cable via PPPoE (and the only terminal command i know is "sudo pppoeconf" ), now im with router, connecting my laptop directly via WI-FI, will i have the same problem and will i have to make settings so i can connect to my router? I just upgraded my server from 9.10 to 10.04. I have ISPconfig installed on it and worked like a charm until the upgrade. Now when I point a browser to my site the page just hangs as if it is trying to load it but I never get an error nor does it load the page. I have tried to restart apache using /etc/init.d/apache2 restart in which I receive an fail error:

I have been having a couple of problems with various programs, and though I have read some threads that addressed the issues, they haven't solved myproblems.Keeping in mind for this, I have the 10.04 lucid version of Ubuntu.Now, a few days ago, Transmission decided to stop downloading songs. Transmission says that a port is closed, and I'm not entirely sure that that is the problem. Still, I attempted to go into my modem, and it didn't work. The page wouldn't load. I tried to get into my firewall, and I couldn't figure out how. A friend of mine who also has Ubuntu gave his Transmission a try, and it worked. When he checked the port, it also said that it was closed. So, I have no idea what the problem could be.Second, I have a Creative Zen Mosaic EZ300, and have been trying to get software to use it on my computer. I can sync to it, and add songs, but I can't delete or edit anything. I tried gnome, but it didn't recognize the player.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded and installed Ubuntu a few days ago (on my Windows Vista Laptop), played around with it, did some trouble shooting (got my wifi card working!)... and am generally enjoying it.However, I am having issues loading my Yahoo Mail. I am using the newest version of Opera (which I also run on windows), but have tried Firefox as well. I am having absolutely no issues with Yahoo mail when I use Windows (in Opera, firefox, chrome, and IE), but can not get it to load at all with Ubuntu. Basically I can get to the Yahoo home page no problem, and can access any of the links etc., except for Mail. When I click it, I just get an error page (as if there was no Internet connection). I have not had problems with any other sites.I'm thinking its some kind of scripting/application conflict, but like I said this whole Linux thing is brand new to me. Have only ever really used Windows in the past.I'm hoping to get these minor issues hashed out, and eventually just drop Windows out of my reality.

My internet connection is up, but the download stops and goes, and when I try using firefox, it takes a minute to even start to load any page. I have the system monitor up and it is telling me that the network is not receiving anything except for these bursts of data aprox. every 30 seconds.

At Panera, and other places that have free Internet access but require signing in on a page they load, I cannot get on to the Internet. Their sign-in page comes up on my iPod Touch but does not come up on my DM9. This happens no matter which browser I have running on my DM9 (I have Firefox and Chromium). And since I can't sign in, I don't get onto the Internet. Initially I am connected to their router and the signal is strong but because I don't sign in (I'm assuming here), I am disconnected. What do I need to do to see their sign-in page so I can get connected. At locations that have no sign-in pages I have no problems whether or not a password is required.
