both avahi-daemon and netatalk have been added to the appropriate runlevels.
Basically, it is a Bluetooth scanner that is designed to do just one thing, scan for discoverable devices in range and record their MAC, name, and the time/date they were found to a log file. There are only a few options, it is pretty much a set it and forget it sort of thing. The only requirements are BlueZ (3.x or 4.x), and that your computer has a Bluetooth device that is supported by Linux.
Obviously you will also need at least one device to scan for, and the more the better. If you want to take a walk through your mall while running it and seeing what you found, I would be ecstatic. A word of warning, I am not a very good C programmer and I have no doubt that there are mistakes in the code and improvements that could be made. I was wondering whether there is an inbuilt logging system in UNIX?
I ran and installation and the program opened up automatically but I can't find the program executable.
If I could find a log then I could locate this file.
How you all doing, I've just downloaded a Java bluetooth API (JRS82) and I don't know how to add it to the Java path, or just install libraries.

My neighbors are starting to think I'm weird because I sit in my car for hours on end with my laptop screen shining on my face, typing away like a script kiddie.
I'd much rather configure one of my many Linux servers to act as a bluetooth RFCOMM device and allow me to connect to it (indoors, while I sit on my couch).
I imagine I have to start with something like

But then what?
I'm perfectly happy writing a perl app to handle the I/O, but I just don't know how to make the bluez stack accept connections and subsequently pipe that stream to a perl app.

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust picked up a Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Mouse.Whenever I try to pair it, my system hangs and I have to hard power it down. The mouse is Bluetooth 4.0, but my Bluetooth connectivity is provided by my Intel Wireless 3160 card which does support Bluetooth 4.0.I'm using Blueman as a front end, and one other thing of note is that it shows as "Unknown" after a scan.If I need to return it, I need to return it, but it seems like a good mouse and I'd like to keep it if I can make it work.

i have a bluetooth modem (BlueSMiRF) that is connected to Arduino Duemilanove. I am trying to see serial communication messages from the bluetooth modem.
I have Blueman Device Manager that enabled SPP (Serial Port) and it says :

How do I see the serial communication on this?

I'm using fedora 13 x86_64 on amd machine. I use usb bluetooth dongle. The bluetooth service doesn't start at all. When I click on bluetooth icon-preferences-turn bluetooth on, after some time it says, bluetooth is disabled. What should I do to enable bluetooth?

The bluetooth manager does not detect a bluetooth dongle .trying to use ndiswrapper to fix.I installed device manager and the results are shown below.i downloaded the windows driver suite. It has 4 .exe self extracting driver archives and a setupconfig.ini. The .ini file is below.I was able to extract one of the 32bit archives on a windows machine and it had about 8 .inf files that are titled weird and would not install properly using ndiswrapper probably because im using the 64-bit architecture. there are 2 64bit .exe's in the driver download, but how can i extract them in ubuntu and do i really need to install all 8 .inf files. also do i actually need to make a .inf file? if so how?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a IOgear USB bluetooth adapter and a Sony DRBT101/BLK bluetooth headphones to use with my computer.Whenever I try to make a call using these headphones with skype, I can speak for say 10 seconds and then the headset disconnects completely from the system. I then have to reconnect the headset by switching it off and on. I do not have this problem listening to music using A2DP. It works fine with my mobile phone.When I change the profile to Telephony Duplex (HSP/HFP), it shows up as hands free, I thought it should be headset in blueman manager. My friend uses Plantronics headset with is Dell laptop with built in bluetooth and he says his comes up as headset not hands free. Could this be causing the problem?

I need to put davmail in a better location than downloads but am unsure where to put it, Im guessing if I seperate some of the files/folders such as lib ill have to modify the davmail.sh file.
wheres the best location to keep this or should it remain in my home folder, I was going to put this in
/usr/local/bin
/usr/local/lib
But the jar count as a binary? the .sh certainly wouldnt.

My md5 program is located at "/home/ahuq/MappingServer/md5_program". So what I did was to put: "export PATH=$PATH:/home/ahuq/MappingServer/md5_program" in the running SHELL. This only makes temporary changes and lets me run the "md5" program from anywhere temporarily.
