I have been making the soundtrack with audacity and using various other programs to create a "slide show video" then adding the soundtrack. I would like to know which programs you would recommend for doing this easily and quickly. At the moment I would really like something I could add photos to set timing and transition effects and add a sound track to each invidual image.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have installed ubuntustudio 9.10 on my dell dimension 1100 desktop and im trying to setup raid-1 because i'm constantly worried that my hard disk is going to fail. i have 2 drives. one 40gb and one 80gb. so, i created a 40gb partition on my 80gb drive and i want to raid this partition with the 40gb drive. is this possible? and am i right in thinking that i can raid everything including /boot?

VirtualBoxHost hosts several Virtual Machines and has 2 interfaces. Wan-interface is not used by VirtualBoxHost, but is directly mapped to the Virtual Machine Endian Firewall.
What I want:
Access to VM's for the Wifi-clients AND access from WiFi-clients to VirtualBoxHost.
What I have tried:
- create bridge
- add LAN-interface to bridge
- create tap0
- add tap0 to bridge
Virtual Machine uses tap0
Wifi-clients are connected via LAN-interface, via bridge, to VM's. But my host-machine is not accessible from a WLAN-client and also I can not access a VirtualMachine from my host-machine. A WLAN-client can connect to a VirtualMachine without problem. I think with my bridge the local LAN and the VM's are now connected. How to put also my host-machine in the LAN? As a LAN-client.
I was wondering if there was any way that I could add a launcher for an application that has to be launched from a specific directory. Not particularly a Desktop launcher, but perhaps under the Applications/Games tab in Gnome at the top. I want to be able to drag that launcher down to my AWN dock.

Im creating a PHP application for my company. The application its going to be used by around 500 people in the network. I've always used Windows Server for my PHP applications, but I want to start using linux. I've heard its faster and more secure.
I want to knwo, what type of computer should I use? Is does linux work better on Intel Xeon or AMD? I need the application to work fast.
Am I going to have any problems with incompatibility if I get a Dell server?
I've used Ubuntu, just to check it out, but I've heard Centos is better for web servers, is that true?

I can't seem to get the Menu - File - Send Link to work nothing happens.
Also for Preferred Applications the only thing available for the Mail Reader is the choice custom. I removed Evolution earlier.
I suspect that if I populate the Mail Reader with the proper command line it should fix my problem.
I am using CentOS LiveCD i386 without internet access. I would like to make the application sys_basher, but make is not installed and I cannot find how to add packages without yum.

* When I run gstreamer-properties and do an output test I get a test sound through the headphones plugged into the front audio socket of the machine using the 'Analogue Headphones' setting in Sound Preferences. (This rules out dead headphones.)
* When I try to play audio through any app I get no sound through the headphones, but if I change the setting to 'Analogue Output' in Sound Preferences I get audio loud and clear through the speakers which are plugged into the audio socket at the rear of the machine. how the gstreamer-properties test is getting audio to the front socket I guess I'd be getting somewhere.
I'm trying to use an application (e.g., mplayer) to play sound that comes in my sound card (via the mic jack). (What I'm really trying to do is sync a sports broadcast by putting a delay on AM audio, as described here. I'm stuck at the part where it says "this shouldn't be too difficult".) I've seen some hints that there might be code-heavy solutions using LADSPA or some JACK SDK, but there's just gotta be a simpler way. I'm hoping for something like

I like Unity, and I appreciate Canonical's work in making the desktop cleaner-looking and more intuitive.I think that being able to customize the top/application(?) panel would be very powerful. I am using OMAP-L138 chip which has ARM 9 core and runs linux. The device which I am making stores some data. I have to retirve that data using USB interface. For this, I have to make an application which communicates with the device drivers provided by the ARM linux(which comes with the OMAP L-138 *) so that we can transfer the data stored in the device to a computer.
My question: Suppose I make such an application which makes the host Linux computer detect my device connected at its USB port and then transfer the stored data to the computer. Will windows computers be able to detect my device? What should I do so that my device can transfer data to both Linux and Windows pc?
I dislike dependency ridden applications or applications that do something useful designed for a specific window manager. So I am starting a thread specifically for requests for applications in Gnome and KDE that aren't immediately available in XFCE, Fluxbox,Blackbox, IceWM, LXDE etc. For instance, I am personally creating a graphical sudo application for the lesser window managers. What other applications would you like to see? this is NOT a request for applications for Linux is general, ONLY ones already available in Linux.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I play large HD videos in mplayer, the video and sound frequently get out of sync, and the video plays a little strangely (occasionally speeding up and occasionally slowing down).
I think it's because mplayer is only running on a single core. As I've got a quad-core processor, it seems inefficient. I've seen that there is theoretically a way to get mplayer to work with multicore setups, but it requires compiling with different options. That'd take me a little while to work through.
Ideally there would be a pre-compiled version in the software centre, or a player which has support built in (again, ideally in the software centre). Is there such a thing available?

Now, I've found the tutorial that says how to use the right filter with avidemux, but I was wondering what the easiest way is to create the file for that filter to read. Is it just a matter of manually writing it up in my fav text editor? something that looks like

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 64 bit computer with a 64 bit distribution of Ubuntu. The driver for the onboard video card wasn't supported beyond 8.04, so I didn't upgrade. Yesterday, I bought a NVIDIA GeForce 210 video card. I installed it and Ubuntu detected it and worked, but the resolution was limited to 640x480 (I think). I figured this would be corrected by updating, so I updated to 9.04. When I had to restart, the option to select which OS (Linux or Win) came up, I selected 9.04, and the ubuntu symbol came on. The status bar went to the end and the screen turned black, flickered 5 times, turned black and stopped progressing. The xorg.conf file is:

View 7 Replies View RelatedI decided to try Ubuntu 10.10 after I had enough audio driver errors on my Acer netbook ( it came with windows wtf why errors) to drive me crazy. Anyway since I installed Ubuntu its ran better then when it was new my question arises here tho. I need to do some basic video editing (combine a few avi files, add transitions, add effects, etc) I don't need some end all to do all editor. just something basic like the windows. Video editor thingy was. So far I've tried pitivi which crashes, open soft which also seems to dislike me, and kdenlive which shows some promise but seems to be slow and needs libmp3lame.
I tried to install it and while my software manager thing says its installed kden says its not. I wanted to try lives editor but my terminal abilities are almost non-existent. Is there an editor I haven't tried that could be what I'm looking for? Is there a way to fix kden? I just want to edit the video and put it on Facebook. I'm willing to learn and I'm not a computer idiot just a Linux one. I really don't want go back to windows cause ill have to reinstall it and even when I do that with the disc Acer sent me windows makes a screeching noise even when then sound is off and locks up.

Then I get a superuser file manager that does allow me to open files for sditing with superuser kwrite.
I'd like to add the link (to "kdesu konqueror /") onto my KDE Panel so I don't have to hunt down the icon on the KDE Desktop to open it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedNew install from downloaded DVD. sound played after install. Installed rhymbox, which tried to install the various nonfree packages. I didn't have the keys installed so it failed miserably. From various websites I've used yum to install nonfree packages to support mp3. I now have both movieplayer and rhymbox which have no sound. Even more strangely, rhymbox 'slider' which follows the playtime remaining, simply doesn't move? Tried remove/re-install rhymbox to no avail.
