i wish to join twitter (not for socialising just info on what's coming in the linux an mountain bike world)i have been googling away and the ones i have found like pino and gtwitter but these either need the massive gnome libraries or have dependencies that i cannot find with sbopkg, so does anyone know of a twiiter client that has hardly any dependencies and a clean interface (no fancy crap like facebook (as said earlier i am kinda against social networks as they are more anti-social than social e.g. i'm going to stay in an talk to friend rather than actual human interaction)
I've grown very fond of Gwibber, since the introduction of F13 as a Twitter-client. However since 5 daysGwibber is no longer updating the timeline. As the problem maintained, I also installed Pino and Twitux. But they seem to have the same problem. I've tried to uninstall and re-install them, but that didn't solve my problem.
I am searching for a way to broadcast a simple message from a server to the other machines (clients) on my local network every day at 22:30 (10:30pm) to warn users that the server will shutdown in 30 minutes (energy saving strategy). Basically, I was thinking to add a cron entry ion the server crontab to do so. before I go ahead with that, I tried several ways to accomplish this action. Then I tried simply "wall" and got a text promt to type in my message. At the end I pressed CTRL+D and got a popup displaying my message. So it worked but it was on the server's monitor. How can I send this message to a remote machine? Is wall the proper command to do so?
I also tried using paswordless ssh..It doesnt work. Basically I can login on the remote machine using passwordless ssh but when I issue either kdialog or xmessage, I get error "cannot connect to X server on diaplay 0:0" (or something similar).I tried also ssh 'wall 'message'' but it also says "cannot connect to X server on diaplay 0:0"So far I have several ways but nothing really works..There must be a real way to to that? All machines are Slackware 13.1 based.
I have done nothing with the system, but starting this morning, i experienced a strange condition on my desktop. I'm unable to open any applications at all. It will close instantly.
When i tried to run from terminal, it will give me an error like this:
Quote:
I checked using
Code:
And i got around 234 which is too much that it takes almost all of the open files allowed. Logging out to text and brings back X will solve the problem, but it's only a temporary solution until X opens more sockets again. I'm running -Current (32 bit)
It seems that there's a hackish solution in here: [url]. Dunno whether it's a nice solution or not, but i'm willing to try it.
I can still play sound through other programs, but ncmpcpp and sonata both stay stuck on 'paused'.I can kill mpd, then restart it, and verbose logging indicates success, but restarting either client results in the same behavior.'rc.alsa restart' has no effect, and modprobe -r snd* results in 'fatal * module in use' despite that i have no sound applications running but sound still works fine in audacity and other programs.
There is a program called Mikrotik to control wireless installations based on Linux, I wonder if I can get the same result using the Slack as a server, if there is a tutorial for this? I would do in my wireless provider, "bandwidth control, allows shares to clients or not." I have an excellent tutorial for using Slack with the server, but is missing from clarify the two issues with quotes and if I can use the Slack not the Mikrotik?
i was looking at tweetmypc - it looks so awesome to use my phone w/ twitter as a remote and send commands to my computer. then i found twitaction, but the problem with it is that it can only update every minute and i want something that is checking all the time.
Whats up with Gwibber not authorizing Twitter. I think this has to do with Twitters Oauth mechanism. I know there was a big fuss about it. I was sure that 10.04 received an update to fix this.
I use command line twidge for twitter, it gives a strange error on terminal, I don't understand. I tried to update, but nothing happens. Code: abhilash@abhilash:~$ twidge lsrecent curl: (22) The requested URL returned error: 401 twidge: user error (("curl",["-A","twidge v1.0.0; Haskell; GHC","-s","-S","-L","-y","60","-Y","1","--retry","2","-f","--user","abhilashm86:","[URL]"]): exited with code 22) It was working fine from starting, is anything problem with updates/ program?
I am looking for an interactive terminal based twitter client. It seems like there are a few around, but some of them appear to be abandoned. Does anyone have any recommendations of a good one to use?
I have openSuSE 11.3 + KDE 4.4 running on a Thinkpad t400. Knetwork manager recognizes my wireless networks and the icon shows that my computer is connected. However, I am not able to connect to the web - browser, chat, twitter app - nothing works.
having problem dealing with gnome-do, before this, I never have problem while tweeting with the tweeter plugin in gnome-do.Now, when I want to tweet up with gnome-do, the gnome-do suddenly crash and I need to open it back via Application to make it use back again.
Just an FYI for anyone who may be having this particular problem. A short while back, I was trying to attach a picture to a Twitter post, and dropped my network connection. No big deal...connection came back, and things went on. Next time I launched Choqok, it popped up a message saying "Server Error: This method requires authentication". It was puzzling, and didn't appear to impact my use...until I went to send a direct message, and it would give that error and crash. After quitting Choqok, the file (/tmp/ksocket-user/klauncherXXXXXX.slave-socket file) was still present. Deleting that file manually cleared the error up. I've seen this mentioned in a couple of other forums, but none with a solution posted.
If anyone else has that error, and this method resolves it, please let us know. I'm using openSUSE 11.4, but it should apply to any version/distro of Linux using Choqok.
I got sick to DEATH of Adobe AIR and TweetDeck screwing up constantly, and then Adobe announces there will be no more Adobe AIR for Linux. Fine, screw 'em, I'll switch to something else. So I hunt around for the options, most of which suck. Then I discover Choqok is already installed on my machine (11.4). Except the POS doesn't work.
To use it, I have to authenticate with my Twitter account. So I click Add, select Twitter, it pops up the dialog. I leave the alias as Twitter, click the authenticate with Twitter button. The Firefox icon pops up and bounces around - but Firefox is already running. So nothing happens! No Twitter access, no page loaded, nothing. I shut down Firefox, try it again. Same deal. As usual, no one bothered to test this POS software before releasing it. how to get this **** to authenticate to Twitter in the absence of ANY useful documentation for this junk?
I have just upgraded to Lucid on Ubuntu. I am a long time Pidgin user. I tried using Empathy with Gwibber, but I can't get Gwibber to update my IM status(es) in Empathy, so I want to go back to using Pidgin. (Additionally, I can't get Skype to work with Empathy.)I installed pidgin-microblog and pidgin-mbpurple, and they allow me to view my Twitter feed in Pidgin and update my Twitter status in Pidgin. However, in Karmic, I was also able to specify certain "status availabilities" (one named "Twitter-Available" and one named "Twitter-Away", for instance) to have the IM status message for these statuses become populated with my Twitter feed. This capability seems missing in pidgin-mbpurple in Lucid (and it seems to be the only thing missing from Karmic).
Is there a way to have pidgin-mbpurple update certain "status availabilities" in Lucid (and I'm just missing something) or is this no longer possible?Equivalently, is it possible to have Gwibber update my status message in Empathy? (I just want to be able to update my status once on one of my three computers - and have it propagate to all my other accounts (IM and social networking) and computers).
I am installed cUrl from http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/amd64/curl/download for my ubuntu 9.0 with php 5.2 ,Apache 2.0.It was installed by gkebi package installer. but when i display phpinfo() curl not found since i was attempt to use phptwitter class. what is the proble i have? When i am trying to install again package installer shows same version of curl already found, but phptwitterclass shows following error 'Method "curlQuery" of class "Twitter" reported an error: CURL library not installed.'
I'm setting up SUSE 11.4 for a Windows 7 laptop user who prefers Outlook 2007 which is a full-featured email client and I'm wondering what is the "closest" suse/KDE email client I can set up to make this person feel right at home.
Im having a problem with our pxe environment. We have around 200 clients per server to boot from tftp and when we hit 250 the service just freezes. So, our options are to either add more servers or move to a more robust protocol. Is this feasible?? How can clients boot from ftp?
I just installed DarwinStreamingServer. All seems normal in admin panel But everytime I try to play the file using QTime player...the play button quickly turn into "Play" again as I push it. Then I try to open it via my nokia phone, I got message "Disconnected" as soon as it connected to the server.
I need to set up a VPN between 2 clients but don't have the foggiest idea where to start. I have searched the internet in vain, I have yet to discover the steps I need to take.
Just something I've been curious about. I've been messing a fair bit with some of my own scripts, and in some cases, getting sent an IM would be useful to let me know when a task is done. the ability to set account information in a text file. It'd be okay if I can designate only a single recipient, or set recipients in the config file at the very least, jabber support.Be able to be controlled via standard shell commands - for example I should be able to pipe a message output into the program for example.
I've been using PUTTY to connect to several Linux-based development boxes via SSH on Windows. However, I'm often in a situation where I need several such windows open at a time. I'd like to be able to put these into a tabbed window, similar to how a web browser works. When I'm on a Linux box I just open gnome-terminal with several tabs and start several ssh sessions in different tabs there; but on Windows something like that is obviously not an option.
When I input xhost pt@pt-laptop:~$ xhost access control enabled, only authorized clients can connect SI:localusert SI:localuser:gdm SI:localuser:root wWo is gdm? Is he a hacker?
I administrat a school in Denmark, with around 40 clients runnig xp pro and a windows 2003 server, but i read about the possibility of running a linux server, with thin clintes that can run from the server, if it has network pxe boot.
I was wondering if anybody now any links to a good how to page, on what is needed on the setup side of the server, and clients. To make it work. And i have to use my dhcp from the win 2003 server. Is that possible.
